chapter 12~ it's not mine

alex's pov

my mind went blank at what she said. there is no way in hell that baby is mine. I used a c****m when we marked and mated, and on the safe side, I slipped plan b into her food the next day. you can call me whatever you want but I never wanted to be with this woman in the first place.

'axl buddy, you there?'

'yeah'

'Can you tell if it's ours?'

'it's not ours. the heart beat is to shallow to be our pup. if it was ours, it would be stronger, and she would be showing more sings'

'Does she really think she can trick us!'

'apparently so. I want her out of this damn house'

I was beyond p****d off. if she thought for a second, she could pin this on me. She has it all wrong. this is not my pup. I haven't touched her in months.

"Leyla, listen, very, and I mean very closely. I know the pup your carring isn't mine. I know you've been sleeping around with the unmated wolves. would you like to tell me who's pup your carrying.

I watched her face drain of all color, and she looked panicked.

"Alex, the pup is yours. The doctor said I'm about three months along. that matched up to when me and you mated.."

"No b******t I know that pup isn't mine, and no way in hell are you three months along. do you think that I'm stupid or something!? I used a c****m when we mated. the heartbeat of the pup is to week to be mine. I'm not f*****g stupid Leyla. I know you've been sleeping with anyone you can. who's g*****n pup, is it?"

"Alex, it's yours! I haven't slept with anyone else but you! why don't you believe me?!"

"Because I know you, Leyla! I know how you are! I didn't care that you were sleeping with other people because I never wanted you! You're not my mate. Hell, I didn't even choose you as my chosen mate. You were forced on me! get the hell out of my house right now! I don't want to see you or hear from you! I'll have some omegs take your stuff to the pack house, but you're no longer welcome here! we're done!"

I watched as tears filled her eyes and fell down her face. she looked completely shattered, but I didn't care. she was trying to ruin my relationship with my mate by trying to claim me as the father of her pup.

"You can't do this to me! what will the pack think of me!"

"I don't care what they think of you. You should have thought about that beforehand. now leave."

she looked angry and hurt as she left the house. she made sure to slam my front door as hard as she could as well, probably hoping she would p**s me off or break it. I didn't care, though.

before I knew what I was doing, I ran outside and shifted. Axl was angry and needed to get some of it out. running has always helped us calm down in extreme situations, and this is one of them. I still can't believe that she would do this. I mean, I knew she liked me, but I didn't think it went borderline obsessive

we ran around the pack borders, checking in on the nightly patrol before making our way back to the pack houses. I was still so upset that I didn't realize where axl was taking us until it was too late.

we stopped at octaviea's front door of her little cabin. I knew Axl just needed to be near his mate, but I didn't want to push her too far, but Axl was refusing to give control back to me.

he walked up to her front door and started scratching at it, letting out small whimpers. I could hear octavia shuffling around inside before opening the door.

she was standing there rubbing her eye with one hand and the other holding the door open. she had crazy bed head and looked mildly confused and irritated.

when she opened her eyes and saw us, she looked a bit surprised. Axl wasn't a small wolf, he. was actually quite big standing taller than octavia in her human form.

"Why, hello there big guy. is everything okay?"

before I could shout at Axl to give me back control, he leaned forward, rubbing his face to her mid section, causing sparks to dry through us. he let out a half sigh and half purr when his face made contact with her.

"Whoa there buddy at least take me to dinner first. but on a serious note, why are you here? it's like three o'clock in the morning."

Alex let out a whine when she pushed him back a little. he hated having to wait for his mate. he just wanted to be near her.

I forced open a mindlink to her. being an alpha wolf, I can create a mindlink with anyone if I wanted to.

'Octavia, I am so sorry. some stuff happened with Leyla, and Axl took over control. I'm so sorry for waking you up.'

she looked a bit surprised that I could link with her but quickly responded.

'it's okay, Alex. do you want to come in and talk about it? I'm sure I could find a pair of basketball shorts or something around here. '

'That would be amazing if it's alright with you. I don't want to push you.'

she gave me a sleepy smile and brushed her hand through my fur, making Axl purr in response.

'It's okay, Alex, thank you for thinking about me. plus, I don't think Axl will take no for an answer.

'No, I will not mate'

she chucked at Axls' response and opened the door wider. Axl had to crouch down and squeeze, though, because of how big he is.

octavia disappeared to her room, probably looking for something for me to wear. sire enough, she came out a few minutes later with a pair of shorts in hand. she dropped them in front of me and turned around.

"I'm gonna make us some tea. I have a feeling it's gonna be a long night."

with that, she left the room and went into the kitchen. with her gone, I quickly shifted back and put the shorts that she gave me on. when I was done, I made my way to the kitchen where she was setting the kettle on the stove.

when she turned around and spotted me, her eyes went wide. her eyes traveled all over my body before landing back on my eyes. her face flushed red, and she quickly looked away from me.

"octavia, I am so sorry. Axl refused to give me back control. I didn't mean to wake you up, I can leave if you want me to."

although the thought of leaving her hurt me, I wouldn't put her in a predicament where she was uncomfortable.

"No, it's okay. If it helps, Ash has been going crazy with everything going on. she's been fighting me to go to you.. she doesn't understand, then I'm not used to all of this anymore. I wish.. I wish I was so that we could be together.."

I could see tears welling up in her eyes. I could tell this was hurting her as much as it was me.. and I hated it.

"hey its okay. I understand. we will take it slow until you're comfortable. it takes time of getting used to this after being on your own for so long."

I walked up to her and wrapped my arms around her. at first she stiffened but soon she relaxed and hugged me back. it felt good to finally be able to hold her in my arms even if it was just a hug. I'd do anything to make her happy and feel safe.

eventually, the kettle started whistling, and we pulled apart so she could finish making our tea. she was right it's gonna be a long night ahead of us, and I knew as soon as she found out what really happened, all hell is gonna break loose. it reminded me of a storm where it was quiet before it got hectic.
