Chapter 16
Jenna came awake with a start. Something was wrong! She couldn’t hear the rasp of the Vision’s life support, though she could feel the slight thrum of the engines even on her bed.
Damn it! Why hadn’t an alarm gone off to warn her? How bad was the air? Did she need to grab a mask before she did anything else?
She sat up, reached out for the portable lamp… and stopped in shock as dim lights came on in response to her movement. That was impossible! The lights in her cabin hadn’t worked for three years and she’d stripped out all the wiring to repair something else at least a year ago.
Was she dreaming? She reached out for the light control beside the bed, noticing it wasn’t quite in the right place, and turned the lights up.
