ADALAINA POV
I've been told that it's been a week. I received very little food this morning. Two slices of bread and a water bottle. It's the first thing I've eaten in three days. The pain I've gone through has been horrible. I feel them together every day, sometimes multiple times a day. I know he's marked her, and she's marked him. There's a constant burning on my neck where the mark would sit. I can't help but start to hate my so-called mate. I know we had very few interactions, but how could he not notice it's not me? My only hope is that Dustin notices, or Leith.
I know that Dustin got locked in the cells for a few days. Sammy, my dad, and Will came to tell me all about what was done to him. They used silver knives on him, tortured him, and starved him. He was only let out once he was healed. I hope he's OK, and if I ever get out of here, that he won't hate me.
My clothes are dirty and torn, my hair is a mess, my body aches, and my skin is even more pale than it normally looks. My eyes, I'm sure, are constantly puffy and red from crying. How could this happen? Why are they doing this? The sound of footsteps breaks me out of my thoughts.
"Addy, I'm here, my dear." Will says in a sing song way.
"I'd rather be alone." I say, void of any emotion.
"Now, don't be like that, my love. Once the pain of your mate constantly betraying you breaks you enough, we'll consider removing the chains so you can get cleaned up some. But that's not why I came." He paused, probably hoping I'd respond to him. "I came to let you know that in the next few days, you'll have a guest." My eyes snap to his, and a wicked grin covers his face as something flickers in eyes. Once he realized I wouldn't answer, he turned and walked away. Almost as soon as he left, I felt the familiar burning sensation begin in my stomach as it made it hard for the rest of me. Screaming and crying do nothing, so I only whimper and cry as quietly as I can. All I can think is that may be Tanner will somehow hear my whimpers and cries and realize that it's not me.
For the first time in a week, I was in so much pain and exhausted enough that I fell asleep. I don't know for how long, until I heard footsteps and talking again. I opened my eyes and looked in the direction they always came from. It was Will and my dad, half carrying, half dragging a large body that was trying to move, but they probably put so much wolfsbane in his system that he can't do anything. Once he's chained to the wall across from me, I realized who it was. With wide eyes, I look towards Will and the man who I can no longer call a father.
"What did you do to him?" I turn my head back to the chained figure. "Leith! Leith, can you hear me? Leith, wake up!" I'm well aware that tears are rolling down my face, and our captors laugh.
I didn't even notice when they left, as I just stared at my brothers bloody and bruised body. After what felt like forever, he began to move and try to wake up. His head suddenly snapped up as he began to look around and pull at his chains.
"It's no use. I've tried, granted u don't have the strength of an alpha king, but they have witch they're controlling. There's some spell that blocks us from our wolves." He looks at me like I'm a ghost.
"Laina? Is that really you?" He says like he can't believe it.
"Yes, Leith, it's me."
"Where are we?" We both look around, him trying to figure it out, and me tired of only seeing these walls.
"A cave somewhere. I woke up here, chained the wall after Tanner blamed you for the rogues. What happened to you?" If they got him, they must've had some help taking out his guards.
"We left you and Tanner." I scoffed, cutting him off. "Well, fake you and Tanner. We had just made it out of your territory when a tree fell in front of us suddenly. Then rogues came out of nowhere, but they were stronger than they should have been. Probably the witch you mentioned earlier. We all started fighting, and I felt a sharp pain in my neck, and then it was dark. Now I'm here." He looks around again.
"Well, if you're here, that means all your men are probably dead." Before he could answer, there was some slow clapping as Will, and my father came out of the shadows.
"Neves?" Leith asks, sounding very shocked.
"Drop the glamor, I can't wait to see his face." Snickers Will. The glamor falls to reveal my father as himself.
"But...how?"
"Magic." Says my father in a mocking tone. "Enjoy your stay, Your Highness. I hope your accommodations are to your liking." He says as he exaggeratedly bows. Then the two turn and walk out.
