One Week

TANNER POV

Laina and I have been marked and mated for one week. It's been great so far. Every now and then, there's things that have taken me by surprise. After we woke up that first day, she forgot she sent everyone away, including the omegas. She seemed upset she would have to work. She seems a little different than she did those first few times we met. It's like her caring and humble side has disappeared, and pack work is something that is now untouched. I've had to step in and do it for her.

Leith is leaving today as the rogues have just completely disappeared, so he's not really needed around here anymore. Laina doesn't seem like she cares very much that her brother is leaving. He told me he plans on coming back in the future as a surprise to her and that he won't even tell me when he's coming. Dustin has started to avoid Laina, ever since they had an argument about her recent behavior, and she had him sent to the cells. We were all shocked. When I asked her about it, she just said she was tired of being treated like a pushover because she's a female leader. She would go visit him every few days. After five days, she let him out, and he makes a point not to be wherever she is. Damien and his mate are coming to visit this week. He wants to catch up on pack work, but also see his friends.

Once I finished going over the pack warriors reports of the day, I decided it was time to head to bed. I can't wait to cuddle Laina all night. I walk in our room quietly so I don't wake her. When I turned around from closing the door, I was surprised to see her on the bed, wearing a very revealing piece of black lace lingerie.

"So, Alpha. I've been needy all day, and I need you." She says seductively as she trails her fingertips over her body. I lick my lips and start moving towards her, taking off clothes with every step. I reach her and flip her onto her stomach. I grind into her from behind while reaching down to massage her sweet little bud. She begins whimpering, and after a little more sweet torture, she begins begging for me. I pulled her hips up a little higher and slammed into her from behind. She's so responsive to my every thrust. I feel her start to tighten around me until she screams in ecstasy. After a few more thrusts, I pull out and shoot my load all over her pretty back covered in black lace. We both collapse next to each other and fall to sleep. As I was falling asleep, I thought I heard some whimpers and crying like someone was in great pain. So I pulled Adalaina closer and kissed her shoulder blades, kissing away her pain and sadness.

When we woke up in the morning, we got ready and headed downstairs. We found Leith and his men already packed and ready to leave. We said our goodbyes and watched them head out of the territory. Almost as soon as they went to our sight, we saw Damien and his mate driving up. They went up to Damien's room and then came back down where breakfast was waiting. The two sat across from us at a table.

"So," we look towards Damien as he breaks the silence. "Can the pack members come back yet? They miss their homes."

"Not yet." I turn to look at Adalaina as she just shrugs and says not to bring the pack back yet. She looks up at all of us and then continues. "We should make sure the rogues won't come back first now that the alpha king is gone." Ashlee sends Damien a look.

"Well, Laina, we should go to the spot and catch up some." She looks at her beta.

"Oh yeah, of course. We can meet down here in an hour and head out. It's been a while since I've been there, and with the rogues, I wouldn't want to go alone." She sounds a little nervous.

"Well, Addy, I'd love to catch up with you later, as just us girls." Ashlee smiles at her.

"Of course we need girl time." Laina beams.

Damien and Laina take off to the spot, wherever that is, and as soon as they are gone, Ashlee turns to me.

"Where's Dustin?" Her look tells me it's urgent.

"Um, probably where he always is lately, the library."

"Thanks." She turns and walks away.

After about two hours, Damien and Laina show up, and she and Ashlee went to have their girl time. Damien stayed behind with me and asked questions about how it's been around here, how it was with Leith, and how Laina's been since she went missing. Something seems weird to me.

I stayed in the office, telling Laina that I had a lot of paperwork to do and that I didn't know when I would finish and come to bed. After a while, there was a knowck on the door. They didn't wait for me to tell them to come in, but when I looked up, I saw Dustin, Damien, and Ashlee were all standing there and heard the lock click.

"What's going on?" I ask concerned.

"I don't know who that is, but that is not Adalaina." States Ashlee. The two men nod in agreement to her statement. I lean back in the chair.

"What are you talking about?" I raise my eyebrows.

"First she was upset the omegas weren't here to wait on her, she won't touch pack work, she sent Dustin to the cells and even went to visit him while he was down there, she didn't care that Leith left, Damien said she didn't seem to know where she was going when they went to HER favorite spot this morning, she didn't react when I called her "Addy" at breakfast." She lists of the reasons and puts emphasis on the spot issue. Before I could respond, Damien continued.

"I don't know who that is, or if the rogues did something to her when they had her, but she is not acting like herself." Dustin clears his throat, steps forward, and opens his mouth to speak. All of the sudden, there's frantic knocking on the office door. Damien opens it, and the warrior is standing there shaken and out of breath.

"Alpha, Beta, Gamma. There was blood, and a few of us went to investigate since it was just outside the border. Everyone was dead, but King Leith was, he was..." I cut him off as I was annoyed and worried.

"Spit it out." I demand.

"King Leith is missing. All his men are dead, but he is nowhere to be found."
