ADALAINA POV The day after Tanner left with Dustin and what remained of my pack, I was in my office with my brother and our head warriors. My phone rang, I saw on the caller ID that it was Tanner. "Alpha Tanner, what can I help you with? Is everything alright?" I put the phone speaker so I could still look at the maps effectively, and so my brother could hear. "Everything is fine, Luna. I just wanted to call and warn you." "Warn me? About what?" I stop and look at the phone. I saw out of the corner of my eye that everyone was listening intently. "Your brother." I look up meeting the gaze of my brother. "What about him?" "I think he's behind the rogue attacks on your pack." Leith looked pissed, and the rest of us were shocked. I start laughing. "Very funny. That was a good joke. You almost sound serious about that accusation." "I am serious. Think about it. The rogues haven't attacked since he's been there." "Would you attack while the alpha king and his men are around? No, probably not. Leith wouldn't do something like that. Who did you speak to that out that ridiculous idea in your head?" "Councilman Neves was here a bit ago. He spoke to me about his and the rest of the councils suspicions." He sounds so sincere, but Neves has always been a snake. There's something not right about him. He was out in to replace the councilman my father was paying to turn a blind eye to his actions. "Cute theory, really, but it's so far from the truth." I hang up the phone, stand, and ask that we meet later before running out to the clearing. I got to the clearing, I sat down by the water and began crying. How could my mate think my brother would do something like that. I was so immersed in my thoughts that I didn't hear someone come up behind me. I felt a sharp pain in the back of my head and then darkness. I haven't been able to open my eyes yet, but my head is pounding. It's quiet, but the position I'm in isn't very comfortable. Whenever I try to move, I can't. After willing my eyes to open a few times, they finally do. It takes a few blinks to adjust to the lighting. It looks like a cave, dimly lit, it's cold, and my hands are chained to one of the walls of the cave. I try to stand and then realize my shoes are gone, and the way my hands are chained makes it impossible to stand up all the way. I can't feel my wolf, and I feel weak. I hear laughing from one end of the cave. Slowly, a woman steps to where I can see her and sets a lantern on the ground by her feet. "Who are you?" I spit, trying to sound less nervous than I am. "You don't remember me? You told the omegas not to make me a special breakfast because I wouldn't say please. You didn't even acknowledge my insults or attack. You walked away like I was nothing." I don't say anything, I won't reward her with words. "Because of you, I got kicked out of my pack, and Tanner said he won't see me anymore. I worked hard to be luna, I made friends with that pitiful little sister of his." She sneers. "The consequences of your actions are not my doing. They are yours and yours alone." She laughs again. "Oh, that's cute. Well, whether they be mine or not, they're about to be yours. Can we do this already?" She turns slightly back to where she came forward from. Out comes a man. Once he stands to where I can see him, I turn expressionless. "Neves." I state. "Oh, Adalaina, if only not showing emotion would work on me." He steps closer, making me uneasy. "It's Luna Adalaina to you." I spit at him. Suddenly, there's a sharp pain on my cheek as my head snaps to the right. "You would do well not to disrespect me. You can come out now." He calls behind him. How many people do they have in here? A man comes forward with a wicked grin I never thought I'd see again. He kneels down in front of me, and he caresses my face. "Hello Addy, it's been a while. I've been looking forward to seeing you again. You won't escape this time." I have to stay calm, I can't let him scare me like he used to. "I thought I killed you when you tried to r**e me Will. How are you still alive? There was so much blood." "Oh my dear, magic can do anything, even bring someone back from the brink of death. It can also make some appear different than they are." He stands up, smirking. Another woman comes forward, and she reeks of magic. "Is this her?" The woman asks, looking at my sadly. "Yes, it is. We plan to keep her here, while dear Sammy here, will go back looking like Addy." Neves grins at me smugly. "No one will believe it. They'll know it isn't me." I say. There's no way Leith won't know that it's not really me. "Oh, my dear daughter. They won't even doubt that Sammy isn't you. You will feel the pain of your mate with another as often as she chooses. You will be left here, knowing that your friends won't even notice you're gone." Says Neves as he steps closer towards me before leaning down. I turn my head away as he reaches out to touch my face. "My father is dead." I state. There's no room for argument there. "Amber." He calls over his shoulder, and the witch comes over to him. "Remove the glamor for a moment." His eyes haven't left mine. Slowly, he morphs into the man who tormented me for years, the man who I saw die five years ago. My eyes widen. "No no no no no no." I repeat as I try to get closer to the wall and away from him. My childhood and all of the times I was a****d coming to my mind. Tears slowly fall down my face. "Don't cry, dearest daughter. You'll finally serve your purpose. You have a claim to the throne of your dear brother, but only if he and his mate die. Will won't touch you in any way that your mate will know that it's not you. But your mate will touch Sammy in ways you would only wish for, but you will only feel the pain of betrayal." He laughs like the funniest joke has been told. "Now, make Sam look like this piece of trash." I watched as the witch began chanting, and blonde hair and hazel eyes were replaced with my dark brown hair and green eyes. Her height shrinks till she's as tall as I am. She looks almost exactly like me. The Witch can't see the scars hidden further under my shirt, just the ones that can be seen through the torn sleeves. Should anyone who knows me see, they'll notice that it's not me. Unfortunately my mate won't know at all. The witch flashes out, leaving behind a puff of purple smoke. Then slowly, the other three leave. Leaving me to sit in silence, chained to a wall, and waiting to feel the pain of betrayal. I don't know how long I've been here. I've gotten very little sleep, and I haven't eaten or had anything to drink. I still can't reach my wolf, I think that since they're working with a witch, there's some kind of spell to keep me from her. I suddenly started to feel a pain in the pit of my stomach, and it slowly grew. I felt like I was on fire, screaming in agony, but there must have been no one around to hear my screams. I knew that the pain was, and I knew it wouldn't be the last time I felt it either.
