Adalaina POV
I got back to the pack and went straight to my gamma Dustin. We rushed into my office, where he left the note on my desk. We both sat down and I opened the envelope.
Your father made a deal
You will be mine, my little silver wolf.
Not even your supposed mate will
Be able to help you
-RAK
Damn it. Dustin came around my desk and read the note. I was in shock. What deal had my father made? What did it have to do with me? How did they know I was a silver wolf? The last recorded history of a silver wolf was over a hundred years ago. They had spectacular powers. I only have a few of the same ones.
"What do we do?" Dustin asked while putting the note back in the envelope.
"I don't know. It explains why the attacks have focused more on us than the others."
"We need to get Damien back here."
"No, not yet. This might go south really quickly. I don't have the ability to stop mass attacks. So, just in case, let's leave him to spend time with his brother without worrying."
"OK, Laina."
"The number on priority is the pack and its members. If the rogues manage to get to me, just leave me. Take care of the pack."
Dustin sighed. Before he could respond, the alarm signaling rogues sounded. After hours of fighting, the last rogue left, and destruction was left behind. A few hours later, Tanner called about visiting. I warned him about it possibly being a mess. The rogues attacked everyday, keeping up with the aftermath was hard.
The week went slow, and Tanner arrived just as he said. Damien had called, saying he wanted to spend another week with his brother. At least there he's safe. I ran down to the front of the pack house right before Tanner pulled up and got out of his car. Man, oh man, is he fine. His six foot seven inch frame looked like it had gained more muscle since I last saw him. His black shirt and black pants hugged him tight enough to show his muscles. His blue eyes stood out against his choice of clothing color and black hair.
"Alpha Tanner, welcome to Silver Crescent." He walked up the stairs.
"Thanks for having me, Luna." We walked inside. The pack house was a bit more minimalist than most others were. I didn't want people to think that my home was more important than theirs, even though more than just me lived in it.
"Sienna, could you show Alpha Tanner to his room, and if he'd like to eat, get him some food, please?" I asked with a smile. She smiled right back.
"Of course Luna, anything else?"
"I'll be in my office. Once he's situated and has eaten, could you bring him to see me?"
"Of course. Right this way, Alpha. Are you hungry?"
Dustin and I spent the next hour or so going over the budget for home reconstruction, clean up, and aid to the families in the pack. There was a knock on the door, and I called for them to come in.
"I didn't mean to interrupt." Tanner said, looking worried.
"Not at all. We were just going over some budgeting for the pack. This is my gamma, Dustin." Dustin stood and shook his hand.
"I'll leave you two to talk. Luna, Alpha." And he walked out. Tanner sat in the seat Dustin had been in. Right when he was about to speak, the rogue alarm went off again.
We ran outside to see blood splattered around, the bodies of dead rogues and dead warriors on the ground. Without a thought, I ran to join in the fighting, and to my surprise, Tanner joined in, too. We fought and chased them to the border. When we followed the last one across, there was a giant black wolf with gray eyes. The eyes looked familiar, and we just stared at each other.
"Do you know him?" Tanner asked. I didn't take my eyes off the retreating wolf.
"I don't know. His eyes are familiar for sure." I turned to him when the wolf was out of sight. "Come on, we need to get to the pack house."
We ran back and instantly found Dustin first, and some of the top warriors were with him, helping get the injured medical treatment.
"Dustin, status report." I say as I walk alongside him, helping whomever I could.
"We were able to capture three. Two of them died like the others, some pill thing they broke in their mouths. One is in the cells waiting for you. His hands are bound, so if he has one of those pills on him, he can't take it. We took out a great number on their side. We lost ten." He paused. There was something else.
"What else?"
"One of the warriors we lost was Ashlee's mate." I froze.
"Was she injured?" He didn't say anything. So I turned and ran in search of my friend. I didn't realize it, but Tanner had followed me. We made it to the medical wing where the worse off were.
"Nurse, Ashlee, is she here?"
"Luna, she's over here." She started walking, and I followed. "Luna, I don't think she'll make it. Even with your help."
"I have to try." I push past her and open the curtain. My friend was lying there, bleeding from a large gash on her side. There was no way she could heal on her own. I walked over, put my hands over her body, and closed my eyes. I will save her, I have to. I could feel the energy draining from my body, I would fall unconscious soon, but I had to save her. For her children, for the pup, she's growing right now and for herself. Maybe a little for me, too. I opened my eyes, and she was healed but still unconscious. I walked out of the room slowly.
"Nurse, could you have Ashlee moved to my room with everything needed to monitor her, please?"
"Yes, Luna."
Tanner and I made our way slowly back to the pack house. Once inside, I called for everyone's attention.
"Silcer Crescent!" They turned to look at me. "We have fought hard every day for the past week. Thank you all for your hard work. We will have memorials for those that we have lost. I know that many of you have lost your homes in the attacks. In order to provide you with a place to live and to increase the safety of everyone, everyone will be living here in the pack house until further notice. I know it'll be a tight squeeze, but we'll make it work if we work together. If you have any questions, please seek me out." With that, everyone took off getting to work. All extra beds, cots, couches, and floor mats were pulled out and used.
Dustin and Tanner followed me to my office. I sat down with a sigh. Dustin looked at me, I picked up my phone and called Lyle.
