"Aahh! It must feel so good to live in a place like this. "
Stephanie floated all around what was supposed to be Rebecca's room, admiring the tapestry, the art works in the room, the decor, the lighting, everything. It was majestic,to be honest.
" If only that prince wasn't crippled you know and if he had a sober temperament..."
Stephanie was talking to herself, admiring herself as she put on the crown and the jewelleries, that were on the dressing table , for Rebecca of course.
Just then, someone opened the door and she jumped up and put the jewelleries down.
Rebecca , rather Renne, was being brought inside.
She was being shifted, after Blaze was absolutely sure that she was in a coma and would not be able to communicate in anyway.
" Oh my poor sister... "
She immediately started performing in her character.
" My poor little sister. Look what happened to your beautiful face... on you wedding day... how you were looking forward to starting your new life.... my sister... I promise , I will take care of you in every way. "
There was something cooking in that wicked head of hers. She made sure everyone heard what she was saying, including Catherine.
" The sister wants to stay and take care of your wife, "
She reported, when she returned to Blaze.
" Were the cameras planted exactly like I asked them? "
Blaze didn't even look up. He was busy studying a map.
" Yes. I look care of it personally. We have two connections to monitor the videos and images. One on your device and one on mine."
She took Blaze's cell phone which was lying there on the desk, and opened the app to show him how the footage was working.
Blaze folded the map and turned towards the screen.
They could see Stephanie sitting beside Renne, holding her hand and sobbing as the nurses checked her saline plug and injected some medicine.
" Let her be. It will make uncle less suspicious and add credibility to our unfortunate story. "
Blaze looked like he was in a hurry.
He snatched the phone from Catherine's grip and shoved it down his pocket as he walked out towards the helipad.
" Blaze, are you headed somewhere? "
Catherine asked. Her voice was a little worried. She had seen the map in Blaze's hand for less than a fraction of a minute. But she was sure it was somewhere leading outside of Clovera, naturally she was a little worried.
After Blaze left, she went to the kitchen with small steps and sat on the empty stool, beside the Head Chef, Wolfgang.
The kitchen was empty but he was busy chopping some onions.
" Need a drink? "
He asked , passing her a bottle and a glass.
"Thanks, " she poured herself some and smiled at the man.
" Though day huh! Tell me, what brings you here? Is it that lad? "
They were supposed to discuss their masters but the 'lad' was what they thought, Blaze still was.
Catherine solemnly nodded and then sighed.
" I don't have the brains to understand what he is upto most of the times. I just hope he isn't too harsh on himself... "
She poured another glass as he talked.
" What did he do this time? "
Wolfgang asked as if they had this conversation everyday. He didn't look surprised or alarmed at all.
" I am not sure, but I think he went somewhere outside Clovera... "
This time Wolfgang looked up. He dropped his knife and tool his gloves off.
He went to the sink, washed his face and hung his apron. Then he came beside Catherine and pulled another chair.
" Pour me a glass... "
He asked Catherine, who nodded and obliged.
" Do you mean the Outskirts? "
Catherine didn't look up.
" I am not sure... probably not... I am just guessing. May be I am just paranoid... "
Wolfgang put his hand over her palm and pressed a little.
" You better be wrong this time. You better be... "
Then he looked like he was getting lost in his thoughts.
" The last time I went there, do you remember Catherine?"
Catherine pulled her hand away from his grip and looked around as if to check if anybody was listening. It was as if she was scared that somebody might have overheard their thoughts.
When she turned, Wolfgang had the entire bottle in his hand and he was chugging it down. He looked up and wiped his lips with a big,
"Ahhhhhhhh! His little cries still haunts me. His eyes... They still come in my dreams and ask me , 'why? '. "
Catherine was repeatedly looking behind her at this point. She was definitely afraid of some secret being spilled.
" It wasn't like I was being kind or anything. I didn't want to disobey. I f*cking love my own little life. I am no saint. Why would I disobey Catherine! But I couldn't. I just couldn't take his little life with my hands. "
His eyes were turning red as he went on with his story, while Catherine stood up and was trying to pull him up, gently.
" But I didn't want to leave him to the beasts as well Catherine. I---I was such a coward. I left him. He was holding this. ".He pulled the golden chain out from under his shirt.
" He was holding onto this for his dear life, nuzzling his little nose on my neck. "
He was starting to sob at this point and he was definitely getting very emotional.
" Catherine... Catherine I can still remember his scent. I can... I can... "
"I know. It's alright Wolfgang. You did the right thing. You did what you had to do. Gosh! I shouldn't have come to you to talk about this. Gosh, I am so stupid."
Catherine made a face as she sulked. Wolfgang was heavy and it was tough job to pull him along when he was all drunk and tipsy.
" Really Catherine... You had to come spill the beans about Outskirts with this guy, of all people... "
Catherine was gibbering. She couldn't blame herself enough.
