Chapter 19

Joy stood in front of what used to be her Coffee shop. Someone had called her and asked to see her there. And she had gone without telling anybody about it Because she felt she had nothing to lose.

She stood there for an hour and was already getting impatient when a white sports car pulled up in front of her.

She watched as the handsome werewolf came out of the vehicle, he was putting on a black suit and had dark glasses on too. His hair was neatly trimmed and some parts of it fell forward, touching his eyebrows.

It was the beta!

"Beta..uh...hey...I don't...I never expected to see you here." Joy stammered.

"Yeah, I'll be quick, I don't have all day." Beta Hogan said.

"Were you the one that asked to see me?" Joy asked in disbelief.

"Of course. Why else do you think I'm here?" Beta Hogan asked back.

"I.. don't... know." Joy stammered again.

"I came to deliver a package from the Alpha." Beta Hogan said and passed the small bag he was holding to her.

"He heard about what happened and wants to give you this. And also to tell you bear with him, as he is carrying out a series of investigations to find out the culprit as it wasn't Sassy. That is the sum of three hundred thousand dollars. We heard your two hundred thousand dollars got burnt in the fire. So, the Alpha decided to do what's right as Sassy is also his former mate and because someone is trying to get back at her for something but because she had nothing, they decided to get you. We promise to find the culprit soon." Beta Hogan said.

Joy opened the bag with shaky hands and she almost screamed.

"Thank you so much, Beta. Tell the Alpha, I said thank you too. This means a lot to me. I'll also cooperate with whatever investigations you carry out." Joy said.

"Alright, my job here is done. I'll take my leave now." Beta Hogan said. He got into the car, started the ignition, and drove off.

Joy just stood there in a daze.

"So, it means Sassy had no idea what happened? She was telling the truth all along? Let me see the results of the investigation first." Joy said.

She looked into the bag to confirm the money was real, then she jumped in excitement. She quickly tossed the bag into her car and drove off.

Sassy was healing very fast, and her wolf was also beginning to respond. If her wolf had been responding all this while, she would have been healed completely.

She could now walk and perform other simple tasks.

She was in the living room watching TV with Anna, who turned out to be very nice and kind unlike how she was when they were kids.

Delight rushed into the house out of breath.

"You guys won't believe it." She said excitedly.

"Believe what? What happened?" Anna asked.

"Sassy, guess what?" Delight said.

"What?" Sassy asked, staring blankly at her.

"C'mon guess already." Delight probed.

"As you can see, we were watching a show on TV. We would kindly love to go on with that, please madam." Anna said impatiently.

"Okay, okay. The Beta asked to see my sister." Delight said and squealed excitedly.

"Okay?" Anna and Sassy said at the same time.

"And, he gave her three hundred thousand dollars as a replacement for the money that got burnt in the fire." Delight said.

"No way. That is so nice of him." Anna said.

But, Sassy looked confused and she stood up.

"Did you say the Beta? Beta Hogan?" Sassy asked.

"Yes, Beta Hogan." Delight responded.

"Okay. This means that the money was actually from the Alpha, right?" Sassy asked again.

"Yes, it is." Delight replied and Sassy frowned.

"It's a good thing, Sassy. What's with the face?" Delight asked.

"Yeah, I see where you're coming from, Sassy. Why would the Alpha do that? Why is he trying to help you?" Anna said.

"Yeah, why? Does he want something from me? He already rejected me." Sassy said.

"No, stupid. I think they've also gotten a lead on something. According to my sister, she said the Beta told her someone was trying to get back at Sassy for something. And he also told her Sassy was the Alpha's former mate. Y'all relax." Delight said.

"It still sounds suspicious to me. Murphy isn't that nice." Anna said.

"Yeah, he isn't nice at all. Why is he even getting involved in all this? Megan might hear of it and tell her crazy mother and the next thing, they are planning another evil thing against me. He should know when to stop already. I don't want anything from him." Sassy said.

"On the bright side, my sister now believes you." Delight said.

"She would have believed anyway. All it needed was time and the truth would be out in the open." Sassy said.

"You're so difficult. I thought this was going to make you feel better." Delight said and sat on the couch next to Anna.

"Thank you, Dee. I appreciate your efforts, I'm just trying to view things from different angles." Sassy said.

"Yeah, whatever. I just don't want you going rogue, please." Delight said.

"Delight, I thought we already talked about this. I said you should let her do whatever she thinks is best for her. You can't live your life and live hers too." Anna said.

"But, what if she finds happiness being wild? Is she just going to leave me alone just like that? Sassy, don't leave, please." Delight pleaded.

"I already made up my mind. I'm sorry." Sassy said and Delight sighed.

"Okay." She responded.

"What else did the Beta say?" Anna asked.

"I wasn't there." Delight replied straightforwardly.

"Dee, please speak," Sassy said, caressing her hair.

"Well, he said they are trying to find the real culprit. That's all. Don't ask any more questions. I feel sleepy." Delight said and walked inside to sleep.
