The Elemental Journey

I sat there, against the wall, blood was clumped in my mouth. I couldn't move anymore. But I could still see what was happening in front of my eyes, as I stared with a horrified expression as the throat of my father was pierced with a long dagger as he was held in the air by his hair. They turned to me... I changed my expression and looked directly in front of me to make it seem like I was dead already. It worked, they all left... I waited until i heard the echo of the front gates closing, before i burst into tears. I cried until I couldn't cry anymore. I still couldn't move, and it felt like an eternity before I had built up enough strength to at least get to the bathroom. I took my shirt and pants off and stared at the handy work made by the soldiers of that wretched kingdom. I never bruised easily, but I was covered in them. I had been stabbed in the stomach and beaten until I couldn't move. They threw me against the wall like a child having a tantrum-throwing their toys. I took my undergarments off and got into the semi-warm water. It hurt like hell. After I got all the blood off of me and washed my hair since it was spit on multiple times, I got out and started to bandage myself from the neck down. I went to my room and put on new clothes. My hair had quite a few tangles in it, so I brushed my long sleek black hair and put it in a braid. I wrapped the braid in a bun so it wouldn't get in the way. By now it was nightfall. I stared at the stars through my window and wished on a shooting star that this was all a dream... I never wanted this to happen five weeks before my 18th birthday. Just three days after my special day, there would have been a grand celebration of me becoming the queen of Bronzalis. But the next thing I knew, I had awoken beside my window on the windowsill.(AKA the bed below the window) I jumped in excitement down the stairs to my parent's rooms to greet them for breakfast as I always do, it was quiet... not like the usual morning I was used to. "Mom! Dad! Good morning! Only 29 days till my birthday!" I squealed the last part of my sentence. Then, to my horror, my parents were still lying on the floor. Covered in blood. My father still had the dagger in his throat. I screamed. And then I saw red. My expression changed as I walked back to my room sternly. I changed out of my robe and into my hunting clothes. a dark brown long-sleeve shirt with a tank top underneath. I had on my tall black boots with the thermal socks my grandmother had gifted me for my birthday the year before. I also had on black pants with a belt over it that had holsters which I filled with throwing knives if I ever needed such things. I packed a bag filled with the most needed things, such as clothes and peppermint herbs for cleaning my teeth. I put my bow on my back as well as my quiver and set out to find who will hopefully be my new allies... As I walked through the vast forests surrounding the borders of the Empire of the earth elements. The great kingdom of Acker holds host to the most beautiful displays of nature, hence being the source of all nature. I walked to the border. I thought the gates looked like the gateway to paradise. I looked at the guards in front of me, who smiled and asked my name. "My name is Thana, I am the heir to the Kingdom of Bronzalis," I replied, looking at them calmly. "We welcome you with open arms, princess." The guard on the left said. They led me to the gate behind them. And I stepped into the soft glow it gave from behind the bars. It was the most beautiful thing I had ever seen. Huge trees with houses up and down them, and markets were thriving on the ground level. Lights were strung over every branch. It looked like there were fireflies everywhere... I was led to a wooden ladder that was held together like a bridge across a cliff. I slowly climbed up the ladder. It was connected to i ring of trees that went above all the others. I got to the top and was greeted by someone who looked right about my age. "My name is Adair, the heir to the throne of Acker. I am here as your guide while you are here." The prince introduced himself. 'just the person I was looking for!' I thought excitedly. "I need to speak with your queen" I replied. The reason I only said queen, was because the king had died in a war a few years ago. I hope she agrees to allow me to take her son away from her for a while. Then again, I am very good with people, despite being around spirits all the time haha.
