Ben took Nancy’s hand and ran. She did not protest but instead was soon outrunning him. She had learnt to sprint from a tender age when she discovered the woods outside the city. She did not even have much trouble when she took the test to be an adventurer. The Adventurers Guild administered a fitness test if one wanted to join them. So her life as 23, her adventuring name, only maintained her fitness. Ben let her run in front of him. Whoever had shot them down had given chase and Ben began to fear. ‘Could it be the wolves?’ he could only think. That would be bad. Today there was no Wonderbee or the dogs to back him up.
