Vannellapishia’
“The Best Time of a Lifetime”
Chapter 2.
Vannellapishia was enjoying the warm temperature and the bright sunny day. She actually thought to herself how amazing it was to have the day off from work. As Vannellapishia continued to gracefully dance along the sidewalk, she accidentally bumped into Fancy, an ex-friend and a ballerina attending the same dance school, Madam Walker's School of Dance.
“Hey, watch it!” Fancy said in an angry tone. She shouted so loud that passbers on the sidewalk heard her.
“My apologies, Fancy.” Vannellapisha reached down to pick up the fallen book, but Fancy stomped on the ground, almost stepping on Vannellapishia's hands.
Fancy hissed, “You need to watch where you're going tramp!”
“...and you need to check your attitude,” Vannellapisha replied.
Fancy was more than an ex-friend of Vannellapishia. She was a sell out and a now rival dancer. Fancy's real name was Ferocious Johanssen. She transferred into the same school as Vannellapishia during high school. The two girls bonded quickly over their love of dance, music, and their hopes of someday traveling together… But after a haircut, a makeover, and a new outfit, Fancy tried hard to impress the popular kids. She traded her imaginative and playful spirit in to be a popular bully. They lost their friendship, but their similar tastes in dance and music remained.
“I can't wait to beat you in this Summer’s audition for the role of Amarella. I was always destined to be a royal princess anyway.” Fancy released her competitive spirit, bulked up her shoulders, and scooter closer into Vannellapishia’s personal space as she crossed her arms. She aggressively and sternly starred into Vannellapishia's eyes as if it were a staring competition.
Vannellapishia replied, “Who said you were going to get the role? You're not the only one practicing, tirelessly, all day and all night.”
“...And obviously, some of us don't know when to stop practicing. My mom, dad, friends, and all of the other students in school know that I am destined for the role of Amarella! …With an already perfect plie, jete, and leap, I am already a superstar!”
“...And I am going to rehearse until I get every step right. I am meant for greatness, and have every right to perform the role of Amarella!”
“As if…?”
“I am.”
“Whatever! See you at the audition, Vinilie.” Fancy intentionally messed up Vannellapishia's name, as she yanked her book out of Vannellapishia’s hand and resumed walking away on the sidewalk.
Vannellapishia tilted her head up high, put her hands on her hips, and resumed twirling on the sidewalk, until she heard a sound.
“Phssst…”
Vannellapishia was confused as to where such an odd sound could be coming from.
“Phssst…”
The sound continued, but Vannellapishia continued walking until she reached the front doors of her apartment, a three story apartment filled with many loud and noisy tenants inside, chilling from the hot weather of the Summer. Moments later, the sound continued.
“Phssst…”
Assuming she could hear where the odd sound was coming from, Vannellapishia quickly looked off to the side of the building. In the corner, standing two feet tall, was a tanned rabbit dressed in a fine, embroidered, and elegant green suit.
“Hello, my beautiful Vannellapishia,” the rabbit spoke as he bowed to her. As he began walking towards Vannellapishia, she fainted in disbelief.
