CHAPTER 7   The Ring               I got awake a little before 3:00 p.m. and slid out of bed.  I would let him sleep ten more minutes yet.  I went in and freshened up and took a look at myself in the mirror.  Shawn see’s something in me that I don’t see myself.  I should take my own advice; I need to start believing in myself too.  Just then he walked into the bathroom and stood behind me in the mirror and wrapped his arms around my waist.  “Beautiful.”                I could feel myself blush.  “The Dr. will be here soon.”                He turned me around to face him and took his hand and cupped my face.  He leaned in and soon his lips found mine.  Soft and tender, then passionate as his tongue found its way into my mouth, and I reciprocated the same need.  He started to kiss my neck and for a minute I lost myself in the passion of the kiss.  My hand traveled up and I wrapped my fingers in his blonde hair.  I could feel his hands doing the same as they started to move over my body.  He whispered, “Leigh…”  I pushed away from him catching my breathe.  “I’m not sure what just happened here but you are getting company and we can’t be doing this in the bathroom.”               A tricky smile came across his face, “Well there is always the bedroom.”                “Good grief.”  I rolled my eyes.  “Focus here for a minute.”  I then walked out of the bathroom.               Dr. Chang came to the door and knocked.  I answered it, “Good afternoon.  You must be Dr. Chang.”                “Ah, and you must be Leigh.  Lilly told me about you.  It’s nice to meet you.”                He stepped in the door and looked at me, “How is our patient doing today?”               “I said better than last night, he did eat lunch, and he took one of the prescribed pills you gave him.  He also got some rest this afternoon.”               “Ah, good, good.  It’s a start.  Maybe we should hire you full-time,” he said smiling.   I laughed and then said, “I need to get some herbs and supplies from town, is there a shuttle that can take me there and back?”                “Yes, there is, I will ring over to the main house for you.”                “Let them know I am headed over now.  It was very nice meeting you but I have to step out for a bit.”               Shawn moved forward, “Are you coming back?”    “Yes in a few hours.  I need to get a few things in town.”                I waved goodbye and headed over to the main house.  I would love to be a fly on the wall in there.                When I arrived at the main house, they had a car waiting for me.  I stepped into the car and the driver said “Where Too?”                “Can you take me to the Lakeview Mall please?”  The driver said “Sure thing Miss.”               It was about a 20-minute ride.  As we pulled up, he asked, “What time shall I come back to get you?”                “What time is it now?”  He said, “Well it’s a bit after 4:00.” I replied, “Ok, how about 6:00 that should give me enough time.”               “I will meet you here.”               “Thank you”               I got out of the car and went into the mall.  First thing was first, I needed a jacket.  I found a bomber jacket and some T-Shirts, and a few pull overs.  I had packed at least a week worth of undergarments and socks so at this point I just needed a washer.  I went in another store and found two pair of jeans and a pair of sneakers.                There was a cheap jewelry store where I found a watch to wear.  I killed about an hour doing that.  Now there was supposed to be a*****e in here for herbs and crystals called the Dragons Eye.  I walked a bit further and found it.               Wow, this place had just about everything.  I wanted to find some black tourmaline stones, to put around Shawn's cabin to ward off that entity and help protect him.  I knew I wasn’t going to be here forever.  I needed to do whatever I could to help him not slip backward when I left.  Ah, there they were.  As I was looking them over, the owner came over to me.  “Can I help you find anything?”  I looked up; he was tall and slender with black hair and dark eyes.   Very handsome.  I would guess him to be in his late 40’s.  I said, “Actually I found what I was looking for, but do you have any dried lavender and bay leaves.”               “Yes, I do, over here you will find an assortment of dried herbs.”  “Thank you” I replied.  I walked over and grabbed a few things that I thought would be good for Shawn to drink in hot tea, and help with the shakes and anxiety.  I grabbed some sandalwood candles too.                I took my purchases up to the counter.  As the owner was ringing my things out, he glanced down at my hand.  “Where did you acquire that lovely ruby ring?  Is it real?” I said, “Yes, my grandmother gave it to me when I was very young.  It has been in our family for years.”               “The ruby is a very powerful stone.  It’s called the King of Gemstones.  Is it also your birthstone?”               “Why yes, it is?”               He looked at me intently, “Then that explains the aura around you.  You have been blessed with gifts, use them wisely and don’t ever let that ring fall into the wrong hands.”               I weighed his words.  I really needed to talk to Diane, she needed to find out the history of this ring.               I wanted so badly to ask him a few more questions, but I needed to get going.  I nodded to him and said thank you.  As if reading my mind, he then gave me his card and said, “While you are staying here, should you need anything or have any questions I can answer, contact me and I will be sure to help you.”  The card said The Dragon’s Eye, owner Samuel Black.  There was something about him I liked, in fact he would have been a good match for Diane.  I smiled to myself at that thought.                I waved goodbye and headed down the main courtyard to get my ride.  My new watch said 6:00.               Right on the button, there was my ride.  “Hello Miss, I see that you were able to find a few things.  Let me put those bags in the back for you.”               “Thank you very much.”                “My name is Nathan, if you need anything while you are here, I would be glad to help.”                I smiled back, “Thank you Nathan, my name is Leigh.”  He said, “I know, I have heard Ms. Lilly talking about you.  She said you are special.”                “Well at least its all good,” I said with a laugh.  I was anxious to get back to Shawn to see how he was doing.
