Chapter 3:Gavin

1234 Words
Gavin’s Pov I watched Judy sleeping soundly in the Emergency Room. Dried drops of blood coated the floor, leading to the bed. After she fell into my arms, she didn’t refuse coming to the hospital for a check-up. Her pale legs were covered in scrapes. Her hands, legs, and elbows—all bruised. I leaned against the wall, a cold cigarette stuck in my mouth, as I watched. I had already paid the bills and decided to check on her. It had been a long time since I last saw her. The once vibrant, outspoken, and proud girl I knew lay on the hospital bed looking so thin—pale-faced, with faded lipstick and fragile. I could only wonder what she had gone through all this while. After the invasion, I didn’t hear about her for a while. “Your girlfriend’s fine,” the nurse said, disrupting my thoughts. “The knee wound is deep, but there’s no bone damage. She’ll be awake by tomorrow, but you’ll have to bring her back in a week for a check-up.” I nodded, not shifting my eyes from Judy. The nurse smiled, completely misreading us. “Don’t just stand there. Go sit by her side,” she said. Since I came in with Judy, she thought we were a couple. Even though that’s not true, I had no interest in telling her otherwise. I am the Pack Alpha, and she should be aware of my status—maybe she’s new here. I walked into the room, and she watched me drape the blanket over Judy. Judy shifted in her sleep, getting comfortable under the sheets. “Did you both fight?” the nurse asked. I didn’t answer. “Couples fight sometimes. But now she’s hurt, all she needs is care. Get her some porridge when she wakes up, she should eat something light starting tonight. Like I said before, she should rest for a week—a stay at home would be good.” I nodded, and she walked away with a smile. I held Judy’s hand in mine as I glared at it. How time flies. The once pampered Alpha Daughter had fallen to an Omega. I chuckled bitterly as memories flooded my head. I remembered when she rejected me. When she didn’t want me. It took all the strength I had to move on from her rejection—the mockery, the humiliation I received. I closed my eyes as I recalled those painful memories. ~~~~Flashback~~~~ “The Alpha's daughter mates with Beta's son!” “Really?” “How will an alpha daughter be mates with him? Do you think she will chase after him?” “Gavin's quiet and timid. But I do know he has had a crush on Judy since forever. He is always following her like a disciple.” “I guess this is his dream come true.” “More like his nightmare,” they joked and laughed. “How can she be with someone like him?” ~~Flashback ends~~~ They mocked me. Told me I wasn't worthy of being with her. How much I loved her—my Judy. I went closer to her, placing my hands on her cheeks. She slept soundly, her breath fanning my skin. My thumbs made round circles on her cheeks as I watched m y Judy sleep. “Long time no see, Judy.” ~Judy's Pov~ I turned my head in discomfort as I opened my eyes. The smell of antiseptic and the drip filled my nostrils. I lazily got up, propping myself up on my arms as I sat upright on the bed. I was in the hospital… How had I gotten here? The sharp pain hit my head instantly. f**k, it hurt. I rubbed my temples as the events of yesterday swarmed my mind. Wait… Gavin! Oh my goddess, he was the one who hit me! It was his car! I had never felt so embarrassed as I did yesterday. Worse, he brought me to the hospital after I blacked out. I glanced down at my feet and glared at my bandaged ankle. I moved and winced as the pain shot through it. I have to leave here before Gavin returns. I can't let him see me like this. God no, that would be way worse than yesterday. I got out of bed, gradually removing the drip syringe embedded in my flesh. Suddenly, I heard footsteps…they were so close. I have to hurry! I limped to the door, wincing with each step. The door flung open, and I froze, my eyes meeting his black ones. “What are you doing?” he asked, stepping further in. His scent filled my nostrils—manly, rich cologne, and is that cedarwood? “I-I… uhm…” He c****d his brows, questioning, while I stuttered and made a fool of myself. “I wanted to call the nurse,” I lied. His eyes raked me from head to toe, stopping at my injured ankle. “You aren’t healed yet. If I may, I would like to pay for the damage and emotional distress I’ve caused you. I didn’t see you on the road last night, and I hit you. Will fifty thousand dollars be enough?” “Yes,” I answered, taking in his black dress shirt and pants, the top three buttons undone. He was different now—muscular, with a tattoo peeking out from under his shirt. He didn’t look a day like he did before, and somehow, that made me feel bad. “Here is a check for that amount,” he said, handing me the white paper. I stared at it, speechless. This money would help cover the hospital bills for my mom, but it felt wrong to take it, considering how I had treated him before. “Since that is all, I'll take my leave, ma’am.” Ma’am? Why would he call me that? Why not Ms. Gonzales but ma’am? Do I look like a ma’am to him, or is this his way of pushing me away? I was about to speak when he turned around and walked out of the room, leaving me with a pained leg. After what felt like hours, I limped out of the room into the hospital hallway, holding onto the walls for support. The nurse saw me and helped me back to the room. She administered some antibiotics through the drip, and I lay down quietly, watching her work. “This is the last drip you’ll get, and then you’ll be discharged. It’s a miracle it was only your leg that was injured,” she paused, looking down at my feet, “But it’ll be okay, don’t worry. It’s best if your boyfriend takes you home later tonight, and with a wheelchair, because you’ll need one.” Is she talking about Gavin? “He is not my boyfriend,” I said softly. “Really? Are you sure, or is this because of the hit you took on your head? Your boyfriend stayed in the room, watching over you all night. I’m pretty sure he didn’t even sleep. He wanted to keep you safe, I guess. He was so scared you were hurt when he brought you here.” I shook my head as I listened. “He’s not my boyfriend. He’s nobody. ” He is no one to me—he’s just Gavin.
