It felt weird to hear Norman talk about leaving the city, but then again, I feel he's tired of the environment and constant bullying.
I was really happy I got to talk to Daniel to be his friend. I do not like seeing my brother act like a loner while I get around with my friends.
We planned on meeting at the school park, so we'd walk to class together. I got there earlier because Norman had something to do, and now I have to wait for them. I just hope they are not late though.
Sighting them from afar, I moved away from the car a bit and waved at them, so they could see me.
"Good morning ladies", I greeted them the instant they got to me.
"Good morning ma'am" Paige bowed dramatically while we all laughed.
"Thanks for last night babes, I owe you one" I told them.
"You sure do" Becky said, smiling, and then we headed towards our class for a lecture.
"So babes, I would love to talk to you guys after lectures today". I spoke up immediately. We settled in the class.
"I hope there's no problem?" Becky asked.
"Not at all, it just has to do with us graduating and everything" I replied.
"That's fine then, we will head to the cafeteria after lectures" Paige said, and we all brought out our notes to prepare for the class.
We always took our studies seriously, which is why I never regretted the decision to make friends with them.
After the lectures, we strutted out of the class tiredly and headed to the cafeteria where we ordered pizza and a cocktail.
"So, what's up Jen, why'd you want to see us?" Becky asked impatiently.
"Come on guys, it's really nothing serious, just that on our way to school... Norman brought up a discussion which I already had in mind before," I said.
"What discussion is that?" they asked, looking confused.
"He made mention of us leaving the city after our final papers, which is something that has actually crossed my mind before" I told them.
"Well, babes, if you ask me, that's a good idea... But do you think Seth would want to leave us? I had thought of quitting immediately after school too, but I feel it would be tough", Becky poured out her mind.
"I would also be leaving after our papers. You know I'm not from here. I'd suggest we inform Seth about our decision from now, so he won't say we are informing him late," Paige stated.
"I think we'll go with your idea, Paige. We will visit Seth tomorrow and inform him of our decision. At least we joined free will, we should be able to leave also," I said.
"Tomorrow's fine since we do not have lectures. We could go out and have fun after we've discussed it with him," Becky said, munching on the pizza.
I don't know why my guts keep telling me it won't be easy, but I pray if not, my brother and mom will have to leave first while I join them later.
I've heard of how gang leaders refuse to free their members. I just hope Seth isn't like that... Our leaving cannot affect the gang, since we are many in number.
We were all buried in our different thoughts as we ate, we all knew it wasn't going to be easy... Sky could give us a hard task before deciding to release us.
He never works, yet he receives his money steadily, he has assigned duties to each one, there are people who always rob banks weekly, there are people who sell drugs and the likes.
My friends and I haven't done any such work, though seeing we are the youngest, he'd just ask us to beat up people who disrespect either us or other members.
We joined because we needed to learn how to fight, we never knew there was a hidden agenda in the white gangs.
After classes, I waited for Norman in the car, but this time I sat in the driver's seat... I really wanted to drive. It's been over a year since I drove.
Norman decided to let me drive after lots of begging, pleading and promising.
"Please ensure you are concentrating. I don't want to die young" he muttered grumpily.
"Norman, you should be happy I am relieving you of stress. Let your mind be at rest... I promise to be focused," I said, and started the engine.
Staying true to my word, I focused on the road and didn't let anything distract me and in less than an hour we were in front of our home. I waited for Norman to come down to open the gate while I drove in.
"See, you should start having a little faith in me. Wasn't the ride home peaceful?" I said to Norman immediately I got down from the car.
"Yeah yeah, it was just hand over the keys please... I don't want mom finding out I allowed you to drive," he said, and took the keys from me while we headed into the house.
