Chapter Three

711 Words
Norman I've always wondered where Jennifer goes to late in the night, but I decided not to question her, so she doesn't get mad at me. I know I'm just like a liability to her. No matter how hard I try to stand up for myself, I end up failing miserably. I hate to see her hurt, yet she keeps getting hurt because of me. I could see the pain in her eyes when she saw those guys beating me up, but she kept her cool, something she hardly does. I immediately knew she was up to something, which is why I decided to follow her to wherever she was going that night. Tracing her wasn't easy. Jennifer has always been an observant lady, so she could easily figure out that I was tracing her. She entered her friend's car and by the time they got dressed, they were dressed like the notorious "white gangs". We do see their pictures flying everywhere. I almost peed on my pants. "Jennifer and her friends are members of the white gang?" I asked myself. Oh wow. They all entered a gate, I jumped over the fence and stood beside a widow, looking at them. I was really stunned to see Jennifer like this, but I became unhappy hearing them mention my name. "I pushed my sister into this" I muttered unhappily. The gangs are the most wanted gangs in the city right now... "What would happen peradventure she got caught?" I reasoned. I couldn't wait to see whatever they were doing to the guy any longer. I needed to get home before her, so she didn't question my movements. The thought of Jennifer being a member of that notorious gang scares me a lot. I was grateful we were almost in our final year, so we would leave this city immediately we are done. Losing our father was enough pain. I don't want us losing Jen too, so I'd better do something real quick, I thought as I finally slept. The next day came, and we went to school together. She never acted as if something had happened the night before, and I made sure not to make her suspicious. "So Jen, I was thinking... Why don't we leave the city when we are finally done with school?" I asked. "You know Norman, I had that thought too, but I think you and mom will leave first, then I'll come meet you. I can't leave my friends like that" Jen said. "Come on sis, we still have like a year, why don't you just inform them now, that way you do all that you want to do before we leave," I argued. "Fine, fine… I'd think of something" she replied, sighing, and took her face to the other side, staring out of the window. "Thanks sis" I answered and concentrated on driving, not wanting to say something that would offend her. We got to school, and we headed to our different classes. Getting to class, I was approached by the guy who hit me the last time and I got frightened instantly. Taking his seat beside me, "calm down... I am not here to hit you or anything. I just want us to be friends if you do not mind." "Friends?" I asked. I immediately knew it had to do with Jen's visit to his house, thankfully they didn't touch his face. "Yes friends, it wasn't my intention to hurt you yesterday, but I was under peer pressure" he muttered the last part quietly, then stretched out his hands for a handshake. I was really happy since this was the first time I'd ever had a friend. "Sure, sure," I said, and took his hands. "By the way, I'm Daniel. I'll see you later. I have class at five" he said, and dashed out of my class before I could reply. "Hmmm Daniel, I just hope I do not regret this decision to be friends with him, but then I won't be seen working alone any longer, and I've gotten a game partner", I mumbled to myself, smiling. I would also ask Jen for her opinion. I don't want her to suspect that I know if her involvement in Daniel coming to befriend me.
