Chapter 44

1432 Words

Meredith's POV “Dad, you can't keep me in the dark, what's the plan? You need to tell me, stop keeping me in suspense,” I said looking at the old man before me who drank up the cup of wine he had just filled. “Darling, father has always taught you to be calm and collected no matter what. I can't tell you anything now. I have to be sure everything works out perfectly just as planned—” My father said with a warm smile. I felt a surge of frustration and anxiety as I watched my father sip his wine, his eyes avoiding mine. He was hiding something from me, something big and dangerous. I knew he was involved in something, he had been meeting the ministers secretly but he never told me the details. I was already burning with curiosity. He had instructed that I not intervene in the maid case.
