CHAPTER TWENTY-SIX Steel and Tony arrived at the apartment where Amber was found. Steel took the keys from his pocket and headed for the lock. The guard was gone, but the police tape remained. He looked over at Tony, who had a wary look on his face as if he really didn’t want to go in. “If you can’t do it, I will understand,” Steel said in a soft, reassuring tone. Tony felt almost insulted at the accusation. But the more he thought about it, the more he realised he was angry with himself, for if he couldn’t bear to go into his dead girlfriend’s apartment, he was letting her down.
