8 years have passed since my mother's death, and although I have been treated well, some of the pack members blame me for my mother's death. She was the sweetheart of the pack before she found her mate, my father. I sigh as I look at myself in the mirror. I've grown since then. Looking at myself, I am about 5'8 blond hair down to my butt, crystal blue eyes that put the oceans to shame. I look so much like my mom, it's not even funny. I wear natural light make-up and head to the ball room to meet with my uncle, as my birthday party has started. I walk in just as my uncle announces me, and I blush, everyone claps just because my uncle is present, or at least the ones that blame me for my mothers death. its about 9pm and I will be shifting for the first time tonight, my wolf is currently wagging her tail in the back of my mind and prancing. "I can't wait to get let out, I know how hard its been for you over these last few years and I will make sure your never alone again" my wolf sapphire said to me, I smiled inwardly knowing I would never truly be alone as long as she is with me. "thank you sapphire, I am so happy to have you" I said back as I made my way to the stage to stand next to my uncle.
My uncle turned to me with a smile along with my aunt, " Happy birthday moonbeam". They both shouted and hugged me tightly. I hugged him back, as at least I know my family will always love me. Suddenly, I get the most intoxicating scent, and start to follow it. My aunt gasps, knowing exactly what is happening. My uncle smiles ear to ear. I followed the scent to the hallway, and there my crush for the last 3 years, but never had the nerve to tell him, the soon-to-be beta of the pack, Alex Monroe. My Wolf sapphire is going crazy in my head yelling "mate" as he turns and walks over to me, my heart is fluttering inside and my stomach is doing flips. He was tall, handsome, brown hair gelled back, brown eyes with a face like a movie star. His abs were an 8. He was tight in his gray shirt, he was wearing black dress pants, I smiled inwardly as CI took in the site of my mate walking toward me. The sparks hit and my wolf purred as he touched my cheek, rubbing his thumb back and forth, causing my cheeks to heat up. He was looking at me lovingly at first, then his eyes turned cold, hard, unforgiving.
"Of all the females in this pack, why in goddess's name did it have to be you?" Alex said to me in a dry, harsh tone. I looked at him on the brink of tears. "w.....what do you mean?" I asked, trying to keep the pain from my voice as I looked into his blue-gray eyes. "of all the mates I could of had, I got stuck with the one who let her mom die." He sneered at me as he pulled away from me. "thats not what happened, you weren't there....." I said before he cut me off. " I Alex James Monroe hereby reject you as my mate and beta female, Kira Rose Williams" I fell to the floor as my chest felt like I was on fire, and hundreds of swords where stabbing into me. The tears wouldn't stop flowing as I cried. I was a fool to think that any male in this pack would choose to love me when so many people thought I was the reason my mom was dead. As if feeling my pain and heart ache, my aunt came to me. "Kira, what happened?" I looked up at my aunt, my make-up was ruined and she lightly dabbed my face with a tissue trying not to make it worse. "he....he rejected me auntie" I said my voice so broken. I curled up into my aunts arms, as she comforted me. After about 20 minutes, she fixed my make-up and we stood up. "Whoever he was, he didn't deserve you, now you need to show him how strong you are, and show him he didn't deserve such a wonderful girl like you. I smiled at my aunt as we walked back in and I took the stage with my aunt and uncle beside me. It was time for my first shift. A Curtin was lowered to shield my naked body from everyone, even though wolves are social creatures and nudity doesn't bother us, our first shift is special. I sighed as I looked out at the crowd, before whispering the words I didn't want to but needed to. " I kira Rose Williams, hereby reject you Alex James Monroe, as my mate and beta." When I finished I looked out at him as he cried out in pain. My aunt had a knowing look on her face, and my uncle seemed confused, so my aunt told him she would tell him later, as I smirked at my now ex-mate. Suddenly the pain of shifting started, and I collapsed.
My first shift was painful, and my vision kept going in and out. After what seemed like an eternity, my vision cleared and I was looking through Sapphire's eyes, as she was in control. I looked down and saw beautiful royal blue-colored paws, the curtains dropped and everyone gasped, including my aunt and uncle.
Uncle Scott's pov:
As I stared at my Niece's Wolf, she was a royal blue with white socks on her back paws, and a white patch on her eye reminding me of a full moon. Her eyes were almost crystal white, slightly blue in color. She was gorgeous. Suddenly, my sister's words rung in my ears.
Flash back:
I heard screams coming from near Luna's lake and my sister mind to me that rouges were coming, so I shifted into my wolf Arrow and we took off to deal with the rouges along with at least 50 of my warriors, I saw my niece running toward the pack house screaming for help and a rouge hot on her heals, I bounded over her and caught the rouge by surprise, Before he had a chance to react I had his throat in my jaws and ripped it out, blood splattered and covered me, and my nieces face but I just kept going my sister was in danger and on pack lands no less, how how did they get in I thought to myself. My sister was trying to hold of 4 rouges and losing, when I finally got to her. I charged, head first knocking one rouge into another before my warriors took them out, and soon it was me and my sister back to back like old times, but before I could react, I heard the painful whimpers of my sister's wolf Rose. The rogue in front of me took this as an opportunity for me being distracted to attack. I dodged him and we started to circle each other before I made the first move, going for his throat. He, however, dodged me and got a bite into my back leg before I turned and snapped his neck. My warriors took out the rouge that had gotten my sister. I shifted back and ran to her as fast as I could, but there was no way to save her. Her last words to me were, " don't let them have her." I was confused by this. My sister was the mother, she always was protecting her daughter and trying to save the pack. I let out the most mournful howl possible. I was heartbroken having lost my sister and I knew my mate would be as well. They have been best friends since childhood. "Take her body back. We will give her a proper burial, as for the rogues burn their bodies." I said to my head warrior, Eric. He nodded and went to work with the other warriors, disposing of the rogue's bodies as I went to my niece who was now with my mate, my beautiful Evangeline.
-End Flash back-
My sister's words kept ringing in my ears, " don't let them get her". Now I realize what my sister meant. My niece is a special wolf, while not unheard of. Most special wolves weren't outside of the ordinary colors. But now I know why the rogues attacked. Somehow, they figured out my niece was a special wolf, and one with great powers based on her coloring. Now everything is making since. My sister's pack was attacked by rouges, and almost the entire pack wiped out, why the rouges attacked the day my sister took her to Luna's lake, why my sister was dead, and why with her dying breath she made me promise to protect her. I was snapped back from my thoughts by my mate Evangeline, "It's time for the pack to run, my love, she is now officially a wolf and must run with the pack. " Evangeline said to me. I nodded my head before turning to the pack," it is with great pleasure that I get to introduce to the pack my niece's wolf, and it is now time for the pack to run as one." I said in a booming voice for all the pack members to hear. Everyone started to remove their clothes and shift. I opened up the entire glass wall on the left side of the ballroom and shifted into my wolf arrow. My mate's wolf came up to me, rubbing her head against mine. She was a light gray wolf, barely up to my shoulders and I let out a howl, and led the pack on our run, with Sky, Evangeline's wolf right next to me, and Sapphire, my niece's wolf right behind us. Behind Sapphire was the rest of the pack. We ran the entire length of the territory as a pack before heading back, grabbing our clothes. We made our way to our rooms before crashing out on our beds, tired.
