Chapter 11: Crimson and Confessions "If we make it out of this alive, princess, you are never leaving my side. Do you understandme? Never." — Dante Chapter 11: Crimson and Confessions The red laser dot traced a burning, agonizing path across the nape of Elena’s neck, a silent deathwarrant ticking down in real time. Before the trigger could be pulled, Dante moved with terrifying, predatory velocity. In a singleexplosive blur, he pivoted, his left arm wrapping like a steel vice around Elena’s waist to yank herflush against his chest, while his right hand whipped his automatic pistol upward. *Bang!* Asingle, deafening gunshot shattered the heavy air of the maintenance stairwell, striking theunseen sniper’s weapon and sending a shower of sparks flying into the dark. "Clear the flank, Marcus!" Dante roared over the echoes of gunfire, his voice vibrating with lethalfury. Marcus didn't hesitate, laying down a suppressing wall of lead toward the upper catwalk whiledragging them both deeper into the absolute shadows behind the reinforced concrete pillar. Butthe narrow corridor left zero room for escape. They were pinned—cut off from the transportvehicle, surrounded by hostile crossfire, and trapped in a suffocating pocket of mortal danger. Dante slammed his back against the rough concrete wall, completely shielding Elena’s body withhis own broad frame. His breath came in ragged, heated gasps, the adrenaline of the firefightsurging through his veins, transforming into something far more volatile, dark, andoverwhelmingly possessive. He looked down at her. In the dim, flickering amber glow of the emergency backup lights, Elena’schest heaved against the ballistic vest. Her hazel eyes were wide, shining with the fierce, intoxicating thrill of survival, yet entirely fearless. She had stood in the line of fire, she hadtrusted him with her life, and right now, she was breathing for him just as much as he wasbreathing for her."Are you hit?" Dante demanded, his voice dropping an octave, thick with a raw, desperate edgethat he rarely let anyone hear. His calloused, trembling fingers cupped the side of her face, histhumb tracing the curve of her cheekbone as if needing physical proof that she was stillbreathing. "I'm... I'm not hurt," Elena whispered, her voice trembling slightly, not from the bullets whistlingpast their heads, but from the unbearable, electric intensity radiating from his touch. "Dante..." Hearing his name on her lips—soft, pleading, and utterly trusting—snapped the last thread ofrestraint holding back the mafia king's control. He didn't just kiss her; he claimed her. Dante crashed his lips down onto hers with a fierce, burning hunger that eclipsed the roaringgunfire outside. It was a kiss born of blood, adrenaline, and desperate, consuming passion. Hishand slid from her cheek down to the back of her neck, tangling fiercely in her hair, pulling herso tightly against him that there was no air left between their bodies. Elena let out a soft, breathless gasp against his mouth, a sound that drove Dante completely feral. Her hands instinctively flew up, gripping the lapels of his tactical jacket before sliding upward torest against the broad expanse of his shoulders, feeling the rippling tension of every muscle. Herinnocence wasn't a fragile thing to be broken; it was the sacred flame that kept his dark, frozensoul alive, and in this chaotic, smoke-filled hell, she surrendered completely to the heat of hisembrace. The kiss deepened, turning bruising, possessive, and wildly consuming. Every stroke of his lips, every heavy, ragged breath he exhaled against her mouth was a silent vow: *You belong to me.Only to me.* The contrast of her soft, untouched purity against his ruthless, scarred underworldpersona dissolved entirely into pure, intoxicating fire. For a few stolen seconds, the bullets, the Vanguard syndicate, and the war raging outside ceasedto exist. There was only the fierce, thundering rhythm of their hearts beating as one against thecold concrete walls. When Dante finally pulled back just a fraction—his chest heaving, his dark blue eyes blazingwith a molten, hypnotic intensity—his lips hovered mere millimeters from hers. He rested hisforehead against hers, closing his eyes as if trying to anchor himself to the only pure thing left inhis world."If we make it out of this alive, princess," Dante murmured, his voice a gravelly, intense vow thatsent shivers straight down her spine, "you are never leaving my side. Do you understand me?Never." "I wouldn't dream of it," Elena breathed back, her fingers gently tracing the hard line of his jaw. Suddenly, the heavy steel door behind them shrieked as explosive charges were slapped againstthe exterior hinges. The blinding flash of a thermal breaching torch cut through the lower seamof the door, casting a fierce, orange glare across the floor. Marcus swung his empty rifle magazine out, slamming a fresh one home with a sharp click."Boss! They’re using a magnesium cutter on the rear bulkhead! We have ten seconds before theyflood this room!" Dante’s expression hardened instantly back into the ruthless Rebel King. He slowly stepped back, keeping Elena securely behind his shoulder, and pulled a heavy tactical flash-bang grenade fromhis belt with his teeth. "Get ready to run on my mark," Dante ordered coldly. With a deafening *CRACK*, the heavy steel rear door blew inward, hinges snapping like dry twigsas a thick cloud of white smoke billowed into the room. Through the clearing smoke, a pair ofpolished tactical boots stepped across the threshold, followed by a tall, imposing figure wearingthe unmistakable insignia of the Vanguard high command. The figure slowly lowered a smoke-obscured tactical visor, revealing a cold, twisted smirk. "Well, well, Dante," a deep, chilling voice echoed through the smoke, stopping both Dante andMarcus dead in their tracks. "Did you really think your own blood would let you keep her?" Dante’s eyes widened by a fraction, his grip tightening instantly around his weapon as he staredat the face emerging from the smoke
