Encounter with Linda

One day, our team welcomed back Linda, a former colleague who had returned from the States after completing her master's degree. Our supervisor introduced her, and I was tasked with working alongside her on a new project. I shared my ideas with Linda, and she suggested adding her own insights, which I thought was a great collaboration with two weeks of knowing ourselves.
Felix congratulated us on our successful project execution and announced that we would be handling the company's biggest project of the year. I was thrilled, and Linda jokingly asked if I could afford to celebrate at a five-star hotel. Felix overheard our conversation and offered to sponsor the celebration.
At the hotel, I noticed that Linda and Felix seemed to have a close relationship, and I later found out that they were childhood friends. I felt a bit left out, but I didn't let it ruin the evening.
The next day, Susan called to inform me that she would be relocating to the States to pursue her master's degree and help her father with his business. I was saddened by the news, and Lili was already in tears. Susan promised to visit regularly, but I couldn't shake off the feeling of loss.
Two weeks later, our team was assigned a new project, and Linda and I were tasked with working together again. We decided to work individually and then combine our ideas. Felix visited me that evening, and we had a great conversation, but I forgot to start working on the project.
When Felix received an emergency call from his dad, he had to leave abruptly, leaving me without an answer to my question about his relationship with Linda. I spent the entire weekend working on the project alone, as Linda didn't show up or respond to my calls.
On Monday, I met Linda, and she apologized for not contributing to the project. She begged me to cover for her, and I reluctantly agreed. I submitted my idea, and the next day, we were scheduled to present it to our head supervisors.
