Chapter Forty-One

212 Words
Caleb had planned on skipping the barbecue all together and it would not have seemed out of place for him to do so. Everyone knew he was anti-social and preferred to spend his time in his lab rather than around others. In that regard, he was basically a lone wolf at heart. His sisters often teased him about his lone-wolf ways. He was an introvert while they were extroverts. So he'd much prefer not to have to attend the social. But in this instance, he’d had to come. Partly because Aiden had informed everyone there would be a mandatory meeting attached to it and there was no way he could justify skipping out on a pack meeting. More importantly, however, he was compelled to see Serena again. While he knew deep down they were mates fated to be together, he still held out hope that he was mistaken. That infatuation he felt… this attraction… this connection was all in his head. He prayed to the moon goddess that he’d blown their innocent meeting way out of proportion. He held hope that when he saw her again he would feel nothing just like he felt nothing for every other she-wolf he’d ever met.
