Chapter Thirty-Four

212 Words
A couple of days after Serena had moved in, she’d finally gotten the chance to try out for the enforcers and thankfully, Alaric had welcomed her onto the force. It was a relief to know that, not only would she be doing something to repay Aiden for his kindness by protecting his pack, she was also receiving an income for it. She’d finally be able to afford some of the finer things in life. She fluffed her hair she’d decided to wear down one more time before making her way out of the bedroom and house. As she made her way up the gravel road toward the mansion, Serena couldn’t help sending up a prayer to the moon goddess that tonight would be a success. “I know I’m not one of your creations, but since I’m a wolf now I consider myself to be one of yours, and I hope you are looking out for me.” She walked in silence the rest of the way, and just as the mansion came into view, so did her new alpha. He kept surprising her with his thoughtfulness. “Serena, I’m glad to see you,” he called as he walked over and engulfed her in a hug. “I’m sorry I haven’t been by again this week.” Serena frowned before responding. “Don’t worry about it, Alpha. I’m getting along fine” she remarked. He nodded absentmindedly. “And how has it been working with the other enforcers? Have you encountered any problems?” “No... no problems. It’s been great. Everyone has been so cool to work with.” His eyes were still on the woods in the distance. “That’s good. I’m glad to hear that.”
