Chapter Thirty-Six

He ushered Serena forward and she let the subject drop for now, but it still weighed heavily on her mind. She didn’t like the idea of anyone being a potential threat to the pack she was beginning to think of as family. She wanted as much information about this possible threat so she could do everything in her power to protect her pack mates. “Come on, let me introduce you to a few of my other cousins,” Aiden said as he led us into the mansion and toward a table full of blondes. Serena’s eyes instantly zeroed in on Caleb, and the closer she got, the harder something tugged deep within her. She wasn’t sure what the pull was, but it felt as if she was deep underwater the pressure was weighing her down and she couldn’t breathe. “Although it’s just you and Alaric as siblings, you really have a large extended family. That must be nice,” Serena murmured. “No kidding,” Aiden said, the humour clear in his voice. When they arrived at the table, he did the general introductions. “Ladies, this is Serena,” he said, nodding at the new she-wolf. “Serena, you’ve already met Caleb. These are his sisters Cameron and Cameal. They are triplets.” Serena’s eyes widened upon hearing that. She glanced first at the two women he mentioned, but her eyes quickly found Caleb’s after and didn’t stray. He was in a tight black t-shirt which did wonders for his abs, and he’d paired it with dark blue jeans. Her messy head of ash blonde curls was a severe temptation. Serena’s fingers itched to run her hands through it. Disgusted with her train of thought, Serena averted her eyes. She really needed to make time to see the pack doctor. Something was undeniably wrong with her. This was way out of her character. She was definitely coming down with some sort of wolf illness. There was no other explanation. “So, are you single?” Cameron asked while Cameal snickered next to her. “Um, yeah. Why?” “Don’t mind her,” Cameal interjected, “she just likes to play matchmaker.” “I asked because Caleb happens to be single too. And since he’s passed up on all the she-wolves we presently have in the pack, I’m thinking new blood is exactly what we need so to speak.” “Cameron!” Caleb growled, finally breaking his silence. Aiden chuckled. “Good luck with these two. They are a handful, just ask Caleb.” “I resent that. We are not handfuls. You guys just don’t know how to deal with independent strong-minded women. It’s not our fault you’re stuck in the Stone Age,” Cameal retorted.
