Chapter Thirty-One

212 Words
It was the evening of the pack barbeque. Serena would be officially introduced to her new packmates. She met a few of them unofficially over the past couple of days. Everyone had been friendly and welcoming to her so far but for some reason, she was a nervous wreck now. Nerves were getting the better of her and she was trying her levelled best to channel some of her wolf's badassness. She stood in front of the mirror in her bedroom and analyzed her appearance. The act, in and of itself was foreign to her and spoke to how out of sorts she was over attending the barbeque. Unsatisfied with what she saw, she growled under her breath and pulled the dress over my head. It was the only one she’d own. She wasn’t really a dress-wearing type of girl. She was in her former life, but since turning into a werewolf and constantly having to be on the run, she’d stopped wearing dresses. They were too inconvenient, especially when she had to fight. She’d practically given up all aspects of her femininity in the name of survival. She wasn’t sure how she felt about it; she didn’t know if she regretted having to give up that part of her identity. In the grand scheme of things, it just didn’t seem as important. Now though, as she prepared for the pack barbeque and her official introduction into the pack, she thought that wearing a dress would give her a softer approachable look. She wanted them to see her as warm and friendly. But she’d looked too awkward in the dress and felt too self-conscious to be relaxed in it.
