“So this is where you will be staying. A few of the women cleaned it for you and tried to make it as homey as possible. If you need anything else, don’t hesitate to ask. ” Alpha Aiden said as he dropped the box he had helped Serena carry into the house onto the floor. There was a wide, genuine smile on his face that immediately put Serena at ease.
She’d arrived on pack lands around seven o’clock that morning and Alaric had been waiting outside with a key for her. He’d given her a similarly warm welcome before leaving to fulfil his beta duties.
A few minutes later, while Serena was unloading her truck, the alpha had shown up.
Serena was shocked that such a busy person would take the time to ensure that she was settling in well in her new home.
“Aiden thank you so much for giving me this chance. You’re a good man and alpha,” she said.
His smile widened. “It was my pleasure, Serena. I believe everyone deserves a fair chance in life to succeed. Can I come in for a moment? I know you must be busy unpacking, but I’d like to get to know you a little better.”
It was ironic he’d asked to come in, since technically he was already in the house, so to speak. But Serena appreciated his consideration for her feelings. So she quickly stepped aside and gestured for him to precede her to the living room. It was strange being a hostess. Serena couldn’t remember the last time she’d had space to herself. It proved again how fortunate she was to be given this opportunity. She vowed she would not screw it up.
“Can I get you something to drink?” she asked as Aiden took a seat on the couch in her new living room.
Thankfully, the house had come furnished and the kitchen was well stocked because she didn’t have anything in way of furniture and hadn’t thought to stop at a supermarket to buy groceries. Because she was constantly on the move, she had learned early on to only pack the essentials and to travel extremely light.
“No thank you, Serena. I’m not here to trouble you nor will I be staying long. I just like to get to know all the members of my pack and I wanted to make sure you were comfortable in your new environment.”
