Chapter Twenty-Six

212 Words
The drive back to the motel was silent. Both Serena and Sasha were too wrapped up in their own feelings and thoughts about what had happened to worry about the other. That changed when Serena finally parked in front of her room at the motel. I can’t believe it was that easy. Sasha remarked. I felt good vibes coming from the alpha. This may be it for us. Serena blew out a deep breath and patted the sides of her hair that was in a bun. I know. It’s almost too good to be true. I’m afraid to trust it. I’m honestly scared we’ll be disappointed when everything is said and done. I know it hasn’t been easy for us in the past but this feels different. I’m confident about this. I can sense that this will be good for us. Trust me. Serena stared out the windshield at the door to her room, imagining the Silver Lake pack being the place she could finally call home without worries. For our sake, I hope it is. Sasha was quiet for a few minutes before she spoke up again. It’s pretty lucky the first pack we’ve tried in this country has accepted us and seems to have friendly pack mates. We can finally start to enjoy life. Yeah, they did seem friendly enough. I mean, Aiden seemed nice, and I know he said his pack would feel the same way he does, but does he really know? He can’t guarantee how every wolf is going to react to us. Do you not want to give them a chance? Serena shook her head in an effort to dispel her doubts. No. We have to join. You know we’re out of options. I’m just not ready to let my guard down yet, you know? She felt Sasha nod in agreement. Yeah, I hear you. I think we went about it the wrong way before. I know we are obligated to let the pack know our wolf status and we have informed the alpha and beta. But until we know it’s really safe here and they are as friendly as they seem, we should keep our status a secret from the rest of the pack. That way they can get to know us without preconceived ideas or ill-informed judgments. Yeah, I got it. Once they get to know how awesome we are, finding out our wolf status will be a blip on their radar. Serena blew out a deep breath and unbuckled her seatbelt. Okay. Now that we’ve agreed, let me go pack up what little stuff we have for the move. She climbed out of the truck and unlocked her motel room door. She’d all but forgotten her encounter with Caleb.
