Nevertheless, Caleb found himself yearning to hear the new she wolf’s voice. While he struggled with his wolf and was silently chastising himself, the voice he was longing to hear rang out in the space between them.
“Nice to meet you too.”
Jeez. Even her voice was captivating. It sent tingles down his spine as he kept replaying it in his head.
“Nice to meet you too.”
“Nice to meet you too.”
“Nice to meet you too.”
If Serena was really about to join his pack, he was in deep trouble.
His cousin had spoken up next and he silently thanked him. “Now, let’s go take a look at the rest of the pack lands. I can show you where your house is and ….”
Caleb had never been more appreciative of Aiden in his life.
If they’d stayed at his table any longer, he might have been compelled to act on whatever it was that was gripping him so tightly.
Thankfully, they’d left moments later, and his heart was able to slowly return to its normal pace.
For some reason, he’d felt as if he had just been in the fight of his life. He was winded.
Caleb was notoriously known for being single-minded and having a one-track mind. Presently his mind was supposed to be on his research and that was the way he preferred it. He was too busy with his work to pay attention to anything else, especially entertaining ideas of dating.
As he tried to return to his reading material, thoughts of the new she-wolf lingered. Caleb knew immediately that was going to be a problem, which meant he’d be spending more and more time at his lab rather than the packhouse for the foreseeable future.
