Chapter Twenty-Two

212 Words
“Holy s**t, did you see the hot new chick?” Caleb ignored the irritating voice and continued to read the text in front of him. He was about to start working on a possible vaccine for wolves who had canine distemper and he needed to verify some of the information before he started. “Caleb. Dude, did you hear me?” Caleb reluctantly looked up to find Alistair straddling a chair opposite him. He wasn’t even sure when the pack’s resident playboy had gotten there. “What’s up?” Alistair smirked. “The new she-wolf. Did you see her? Despite the button-down shirt, she is a total hottie.” Caleb frowned. He was unsure what exactly had given Alistair the impression he was interested in this conversation. Instead of answering, he said “go away. I’m busy.” Alistair huffed out an irritated breath. “Dude, sometimes I worry about you – I question your sexuality. Prime p***y enters the pack and you’re oblivious. You need help. Better yet, you need to get laid.” Beyond being annoyed by the unwanted distraction, Caleb raised his head from the journal he was reading. “I’m busy, Alistair. These locker room conversations are not for me. I have better things to do with my time than screw every willing female within a twenty-mile radius. Go bother someone else.” “Don’t be a hater,” Alistair said, cutting Caleb off. “Anyway, that just means more p***y for me. I mean she’s not my usual type, but she is exotic enough that I would want to at least sample once.” Caleb’s wolf, Wilder growled within him. “I didn’t think you could be a bigger asshole than you were, but I guess I was wrong. Now I’ll tell you for the last time, I’m busy.” Alistair shrugged and walked off.
