Chapter Twenty-One

212 Words
Serena didn’t know what the hell was going on, but she knew it all stemmed from the man sitting in front of her. She couldn’t wait to get back to her motel room so she could freely question Sasha. Although she was puzzled as to what was happening, Caleb seemed reluctant to acknowledge that something was indeed happening. The vibes he was exhibiting said he was anxious to get back to his book rather than spend any more time talking to them. Thankfully, it seemed Aiden hadn’t noticed anything because he clapped his hands together and said, “let’s go take a look at the rest of the pack lands. I can show you where your house is and then let you get back on the road so you can prepare to move in tomorrow.” Serena smiled at him, but she could feel how fake it was. “Okay, sure. Sounds good,” she babbled. As Aiden led them through the kitchen, Serena couldn’t help but toss a glance over her shoulder at Caleb. He had already returned his attention to his book. Serena was disappointed. It was obvious he wasn’t as affected by what they’d just shared as she was. She couldn’t comprehend how something so intense could be one-sided. She shook her head slowly as she continued to follow Aiden.
