True Power

Gilbert rose up slowly as large amounts of power rolled off of him. The whole forest was surpressed just by his mere presence. Rufus was pushed back by the force of Gilbert's power. He stumbled back a bit but was able to compose himself. He had a look of shock and disbelief on his face as he stared at Gilbert. He was shocked to his core. "Wh-what?... Gilbe...rt.... How? Wh-when did you get this powerful? When did you reach level 12!" Gilbert slowly rose up. He had a solemn look on his face. "I was about to tell you in the tent. But all you wanted to do was steal from the Hovering Sands Merchant Guild." He lifted his head up and stared straight into the eyes of Rufus. "Stop this nonsense Rufus. You can still turn back from this. I'll even help you convince the guild!" Rufus stared at Gilbert in disbelief. This was one of the reasons why he truly loved Gilbert as a brother. A sworn brother who would do anything for him. But not this time. He needed this brother dead. "Hahahahahaha... You fool! I just killed all your servants and you still want to help me?". Rufus narrowed his eyes. "Even if you have reached a higher level than me, you will lose here today!" Immediately after saying that, Rufus wasted no time. He threw his hand up. As he did so, his mana exploded forth. A blue smoke like aura surrounded his body and strengthened it. His power begun to rise. He looked towards Gilbert with a strong killing intent. "Even if you have reached level 12, I have achieved the innate mana ability. I can easily handle you" Gilbert sighed in sadness. "It seems you have still not understood the difference in levels. If you do not want to change your mind, I'll beat some sense into you" Gilbert crouched on the ground. A red aura begun to emanate from him. Of course this was not the same as the innate mana that Rufus displayed. Innate mana was a form that drastically increased one's abilities. It came from the core of a person. In other words, it utilized the life force of the user. Even so, innate mana had levels and various ways it could be utilized. Most people utilized innate mana without having any damage to their life force. Others on the other hand, drained their life force. But what Gilbert was displaying was a powerful berserker skill. Yes, Gilbert was a berserker. Rufus' eyes widened. 's**t! He's going to use that!" "Berserker skill, Overdrive!" Gilbert roared out. Instantly, surges of power blasted out in all directions. Gilbert's muscles enlarged. His veins popped out and became visible. His skin became a shade of red as his irises turned completely white. Overdrive was a basic berserker skill that greatly enhanced the users physical capabilities. Even so, depending on the level of it's proficiency, it could destroy mountains and overturn rivers. Those who trained this skill to great heights were classified as heaven defying monsters, and Gilbert was a talent with that much potential. He shot towards Rufus with a monstrous speed. He instantly appeared at Rufus' left side and pulled back his right arm Woosh! Smash! Gilbert smashed his fist hard into Rufus. Boom! The ground beneath Rufus caved in. The pressure from the collision pushed back everything in it's path. Bane, who was watching the battle unfold, jumped back from their battle. He landed a few meters away from them and perched on a tree. "Ah! This battle seems like it would be really interesting!" Gilbert looked down at Rufus. "Oh? You were able to block that punch?" Rufus was half kneeling on the ground. One knee was on the ground. His two hands were lifted. Rufus had casted a protective spell at the last minute to block Gilbert's attack. It was a large blue projection that covered his hand. Crack! The projection begun to brake apart. Rufus immediately counter attacked. "Trench Fire!" Rufus called out. A roaring blue flame burst forth from him and attacked Gilbert. Gilbert quickly jumped back before the fire could touch him. The moment he was in the air, Rufus attacked again. "Flame palm" Two giant palms made out of blue flames emerged and barred towards Gilbert. 's**t! I can't change my direction since I'm already in the air' Smash! The hands smashed into Gilbert. "Urgh!" Gilbert grunted as he smashed into trees and collided into a hard rock. Rufus heaved a huge sigh as he saw this scene. He pulled himself up slowly. 'Damn it! Is this the difference in strength because of our levels? The punch didn't even touch me but I have internal injuries!' "Hohoho... You are as powerful as I remember Rufus" a voice boomed. Rufus lifted his head and looked in the direction Gilbert had fallen. Gilbert's tunic was torn of. He walked calmly towards Rufus. Strangely enough, his fat begun to reduce. His belly was slowly reduce. Steam begun to emit from Gilbert. 'Tch. He's barely injured. I can't give him any chance to attack.' "Thorn field". A large tentacle of thorns erupted and attacked Gilbert. Gilbert pulled back a fist and punched out. Boom! The wave wiped out the thorns. ....... Bane sat on a tree which was a few metres away from the battle. "Rufus, that fool. Did he not say that Gilbert was a level 11 berserker? Well, it is not my problem. Rufus has already paid me and I have fulfilled my mission. I'm leaving" While Bane was thinking, something hit him. 'Wait! If Gilbert is a level 12, how did I capture him? Did he intentionally allow it?' As that thought passed through Bane's mind, he shivered. "Tch. Damn it. It isn't my problem. I'm leaving. This battle is already over!" Bane said as he hurried to leave. "Hmm... You are right. This battle is already over. I mean that mage is no where near the power of that fatty!" A voice said behind Bane. Immediately all Bane's senses stood on high alert. He quickly jumped onto another branch. 'Urgh! What the f**k? I didn't even feel the prescence of anyone behind me? Was there anyone that powerful in the merchant caravan?' As he thought this, he raised up his head to see who had spoken behind him. What he saw shocked him to the core.
