Painful heartbreak

Right after the conversation at the restaurant, Ethan left the place without thinking twice, the couple arrived home separately and I know you probably wondering why, since they went on a dinner date together.

Well have you ever heard of frustration? That's the exact cause of it. Ethan had stormed out of the restaurant after asking his girlfriend why she never discussed her career journey with him, more so that now it even lead to moving abroad.

When he arrived home, he went straight to his study with a glass of chilled wine he had just got from the pantry.

Wait, I mentioned the study but silly me, I never mentioned Ethan's current job position right?. Ethan worked in a Law firm, he had studied Law in his early 20's after his sister got assaulted by a group of men. His main aim was to study law so he can one day seek justice for his lovely sister. At this point they didn't stay together because his sister was brave enough to venture out of the country to start her life and adventures in a different continent, Africa. She had love for wildlife and she knew the only way to live her best life was to go stay where wildlife was plenty.

She was staying in Botswana, very far from her brother but thank God technology is advanced. They called everyday to update each other about their daily lives and it was a great bond between the two.

Now Ethan was just working on building his own life, while persuing his love life on the side, the current career situation between him and his girlfriend was making him question his life direction, he was hoping to talk to Ashley once he calmed down on his own.

He was someone who would never want to solve problems with a hot head because he knew words are like spilled milk, once said they can't be taken back.

While he was sipping his wine, his phone rang and that was his sister. "Hi Anny let me get back to you, I'm in the middle of something important", he said with a heavy heart because stressing his sister was the least thing he could do . His sister just said "Okay get back to me" and hung up, right after hanging up Ashley walked right into his study.

"We need to talk, i can't believe you left me alone in that damn restaurant!", she said banging on his study table. Ethan's eyes widened, his heart pounded a bit because he wasn't expecting that," woah woah woah, calm down Ash...take a seat and talk to me", he said in a very calm voice because shouting to his girlfriend was never gonna happen. He respected his girlfriend in every situation so he knew the only way to deal with his angry bird was to talk to it calmly.

"I'm not sitting down, you have to explain to me right now! Is it because I said I wanted to study abroad? Is it because you want me to be a slave housewife who is restricted to do anything for herself? Wait, are you actually selfish like that?, shouted Ashley without giving herself a minute to breath.

His boyfriend just paused for a moment in disbelief, his mind questioned if that's how his girlfriend looked at him. After a few minutes he looked straight into his girlfriend's eyes and said "I love you to a point where I'll never make you feel forced for something you don't want , I will never make you a slave, I'm not against you studying abroad". He just needed a moment to digest the current situation of which he was not given the chance to, now he was already drowning in a one sided argument.

He just wanted to know why his girlfriend never told him about her future plans even though he shared his with her all the time.

Ashley was acting like a mad goat, she didn't even listen to herself before speaking and in a split of a second came the harsh words Ethan never imagined he could hear anytime soon . "We are over, I'm gonna call Chen and tell him I'm applying for the scholarship...if you don't want me to go then suit yourself, I'm out of here", said Ashley. Tears rolled down Ethans eyes as he was caught offguard, he then tried by all means to change his girlfriend's mind but nothing worked, her decision was firm.

Ethan never said he didn't want his girlfriend to study abroad, all he wanted was to talk it out in a calm mind and see if they were relocating together or they were gonna agree on a long distance relationship.

Ashley went to their room and started packing her bags, poor Ethan was begging her to stay but she was busy doing her own stuff. She had 2 suitcases with her filled with make-up and clothes . She went downstairs with her bags and stood right in the centre of the lounge and pulled her phone out of her purse. She pressed a few buttons and in no time the ringing phone was picked up."Hello? Is this Mr Chen?", she said with a bit of smile while looking at Ethan who came following her downstairs. For some reason she was giving the "revenge look", at least that's how Ethan interpreted it. She then proceeded to book an appointment with him while her boyfriend was listening or let me just say her ex boyfriend since things had already took a turn.

After her call, she took her bags and left the house in her red mini cooper , she had bought with her college savings while she was working part time in a cafe.

Ethan was just standing there, as if he was being a mute spectator to a football match, guess that's was just him trying to accept that it was finally over between him and his girlfriend. Love is strange right?
