Chapter 8 Anna’s POV Opening my eyes, I realize I am back in the room I was put in, I don’t remember much about what happened but I know I have anxiety now. I want to go back to the city, but I have a feeling it's not going to happen. I know if I try and force the doctor to release me, he might not do it. He might make up some excuse to keep me longer. My body doesn’t hurt as much as it did, which is kind of nice. But then I am reminded that they said I am part wolf. “Part wolf?” I said out loud. “That’s not possible, did they give me something to force me to believe that I could shift into a wolf?” I don’t know how things are going to be, but if they think I am going to believe I am a wolf then they have something else coming. I am going to try and get out of here without them knowing about it. I don’t know how well-guarded this place is, but I know they have guards at least closest to the house. I don’t know if going out at night is going to make this easier for me to get away, but I guess it's going to be something I am going to try, I know if I fail they are going to have someone watch me even closer. I don’t know if there is a guard outside my door, part of me wants to see if he is still standing there but I don’t want anyone knowing I am awake. When I opened the door the guard was gone, but that didn't make me feel any better, I slowly made my way down the stairs, the house was quiet so I didn’t know if anyone it there. Part of me wants to go out the front door and run for it, but I feel like I am too weak to do that right now. “You’re feeling better.” a man spoke. I spun around. “I don’t know about feeling better about anything,” I said shaking my head. “But if you mean the pain is better then I guess so. I am looking for the doctor, I want to go home.” “Well he and the Alpha have a few things they are doing right now, but I can let them know you are moving around and if you want I can take you to the kitchen to get something to eat if you want.” “How do I know there isnt something in the food,” I said shaking my head. “Sorry with everything not making sense, I am beginning to wonder if I am being drugged.” He chuckled. “I know you think what you learned last night is because of drugs.” he sighed. “But you belong with us, we don’t know how it happened but you are Darius’ mate, and when he gets back he wants to talk to you more about that.” “I don’t know what that means, but it can't be good. If you say I am going to change into a wolf, then what else is going to happen?” I sighed. “All of this is overwhelming, I just want to go home and forget about all of this.” `” I don’t know if you can run from any of this, I know it's a lot worse than it sounds but it's not. When you shift for the first time you will hurt and it will become nothing after that. When you get your wolf she will help you with it, but you have to be open to wanting her.” he sighed. “We’re going to help you through all of this I promise.” As much as I wanted to believe what he was saying, I didn’t know if anything was going to happen. I hope when I get back to the city I can forget about all of this and I won't have any more issues when it comes to wolves if they even are real. “Come on let's go and get some coffee, you look like you could pass out again,” he said walking towards a door. “I promise no drugs,” he said before he disappeared behind the door. Part of me wanted to go for the front door, but I couldn’t resist the coffee that he offered. If he isnt going to drug me anyway. I slowly pushed the door open and scanned the room before I noticed he was near the coffee. All of this sounds completely insane, I know for a fact that I won't be turning into wolves. Maybe if I play nice and let them think they're winning this, they'll let me go. I still don’t know why that other man thought I was someone else, this is insane. I slowly made my way into the kitchen, and he kind of smirked when he noticed I was creeping in. “You don’t have to be scared Anna, we’re not going to bite you,” he said pouring coffee. “Do you want something to eat?” “I don’t know,” I said sliding onto the chair. “I don’t know if I can believe what I heard last night, werewolves are real in movies, this isnt a movie.” I sighed. “I know a lot of it seems like it's not real, but the humans don’t like our kind. They made movies to make us seem fictional, but we are a living and breathing race. You will get to see firsthand the shift and all of it, you are going to understand a lot more than most humans.” As much as I wanted to believe all of this, I couldn’t. “I don’t even think I can shift,” I said taking the coffee. “Maybe this isnt my life, I know it wasn't when I was kidnapped and that guy tortured me and threatened to do a lot of harm to me and he didn’t know who I was.” “You are safe here Anna, you won't be safe out there. Yes, Darius can protect you but if you stay here it will make things a lot easier for us, for you. You are going to shift whether or not you believe that, and we all want to ensure you do it safely, if the humans find out about you, they will kill you.” he sighed. I didn’t say anything because this isnt real. I am not going to shift, I need to figure out how to convince them that I won't say anything about what happened and I hope they let me go. I close my eyes and think about what I am going to tell the police if they have found the man that I stabbed. I know he didn’t live through that. “Do you know if the police found the body?” I asked. “What body? You mean that man you thought you killed?” he asked. “Well yes, I hit him in the throat, I don’t think anyone is going to survive that.” I sighed. I didn’t want to kill anyone but he didn’t leave me a choice. I know I am going to have to answer for it, and I don’t know how I am going to do in prison but I guess we’re going to have to see what happens when it comes down to it. “I doubt you killed him, if you were taken by the rogue king you most likely tried fighting a wolf and he is fine.” he mused. “But I will send word into the city about it and see if there is anything about it, if there is a dead body somewhere we will find it, but I am sure there isnt.” I didn’t say anything, he can't be sure it was a wolf, but maybe it was. Wait wolves and men don’t exist, I have to figure out how to get out of here without them thinking I am not believing this. “So when is the Alpha going to be back?” “He should be back soon, don’t worry Anna you aren't going to be forced to stay here if that is what you are worried about, your mate and your pack want you to know you are loved here, and if you want to go back to the city then I guess that is where you’re going to go.” he sighed. “But I hope you think about staying here, we can protect you better.” I didn’t say anything, I didn’t need protecting, it was just a bad night. I knew I shouldn’t have gone out for that walk, but I did and now I see why they warn us not to go out at night. “I don’t plan to go for walks at night anymore, you can be sure about that.” I sighed. “I couldn’t sleep and that almost got me killed.” He didn’t say anything, his eyes glazed over kind of oddly. “Alpha should be here soon.” he smiled. Good, maybe he will let me go.
