Atlantis

2013 Words
For exactly 3 days Eli and Vici worked side by side on repairs to the accessible systems, her knowledge of where the parts they stored aboard the ship impressive as they let the robots do their work. They had deployed 5 of them near the rear of the ship so that they would focus on Engineering first, Eli realizing that life support was going to be the biggest issue. She was also teaching him to speak Alterran, which he learned was the basic language for the 13 clans of their culture. When they opened their eyes in Atlantis, she was amazed that the architecture was clearly of her clans influence. "This is Lantean?" she asked him. "Yes, it is. Doctor Rodney McKay, I will be helping you with your research." he told her. "You can understand me?" she asked amazed. "The communication stones essentially translate for you." Eli told her as she nodded amazed at the progress her people had made. "This city, is it powered by the new ZPM technology?" she asked as Rodney led them to a station in the control room. "3 of them. How long exactly were you in hibernation for if ZPM's are new to you?" he asked as she began using the Ancient interface with the computer instead of the laptop. "According to my men, 42,375,672 years since Destiny left Avalon." she told him. "Where is Avalon?" he asked as Vici got to a screen that had been blocking him for months. "Damn, I was afraid of that when a basic search didn't return any results." Eli laughed as he looked at it before he began entering in the Master Code for Destiny. As soon as he pressed enter the entire system flashed and began scrolling more data than Eli could process before it stopped into a searchable format he recognized just as easily as Vici did. "Holy s**t!" Rodney said as the files he had been trying to access for years suddenly opened and began downloading unencrypted. He activated his radio before he continued. "Colonel Sheppard to the Control Room immediately." he said only once knowing he would be coming quickly. "What Rodney?" Eli asked as he and Vici began looking at potential upgrades they could deploy to the various systems with what they had on board. "You just unlocked the Ancient Council Code and fully unlocked the database." Rodney said as he also realized that it had unlocked a previously hidden manufacturing facility just above the star drive section. "Scratch that, you just unlocked the motherlode of Ancient secrets and technology. The entire city is accessible now." "What does that mean?" John Sheppard asked as he walked in. "Eli just cracked the Master Code in 10 seconds flat. The entire encrypted database as well as all previously sealed sections have been opened. That includes a manufacturing facility apparently, but I won't know what for until we get in there and look at everything." Rodney told him. "Eli right?" John asked and he nodded. "Do you need Rodney anytime soon?" he asked as Eli shook his head no. "Great, we'll be right back." 6 hours later General O'Neill beamed into the conference room where Eli, Vici, Rodney and John were all waiting for him with the doors closed. "Let's hear it." Jack said as he sat down. "Which part sir?" John asked him. "Let's start with unlocking Atlantis shall we?" he asked them raising his eyebrows. "The Destiny files were locked beyond a code with the same lock that Destiny itself had been locked down with. It also happened to unlock everything else here too." Eli said innocently. "Sir, the manufacturing facility has the hyperdrive tech, drones, ZPM's, shields, battleships, everything we could possibly imagine is down there to build everything they had. The full database is now being transferred fully decrypted with all the information we have been lacking before. It will take about 6 months to process everything." Rodney reported. "Eli, Destiny?" Jack asked him. "We have found a simple modification to the FTL modules that will convert them into basic hyperdrive modules. It should increase our speed by about 10 times what we were capable of before. We also found upgrades for the shields and weapons, and now that the subspace link has been repaired, the entire database is being downloaded as we speak. We are also uploading the designs to Destiny. "As for the repairs, the robots estimate it will be 4 weeks before we can enter Engineering to begin the process, and then it will be at least 6 weeks of repairs to get FTL functional again. We should have everything prepared just before power levels reach critical General. Supplies however will be an issue, we could really use a supply line." Eli told him. "Langara is not to keen on cooperating with us right now." Jack said honestly. "Is there a planet capable of dialing Destiny in this galaxy?" Vici asked him. "Yes." Jack answered honestly. "Please ask them to speak with me then. If they could assist us, we can assist them." she said brutally honest. "We need to be careful with what is offered, they-" Jack said as she looked at him. "I am a proper Lantean Clan member of the Alterran species, I am likely the last person alive that can make a direct claim to this city and everything within it. Eli has shown me how far you have come in a short time, most definitely ill prepared for what you encountered." she said as Jack nodded. "I will extend the offer. Give us 3 more days." Jack said before the stones disconnected. Eli and Vici returned via the communication stones, Engineers taking their place to continue repairing everything inside the ship they had access to while the robots worked on repairing the hull. They both opened their eyes in the conference room, surprised to see everyone was already waiting for them. "Administrator Quinn, Ambassador Ovirda, may I present Eli Wallace and Commander Vici of the Avalonian Exploration Force." Jack said using her official title. "Wasn't Avalon a myth?" Jonas asked familiar with the story from his time on Earth. "No Administrator Quinn, it is the name my people gave Earth when we first settled it. Who you all refer to as the Ancients, is just the Lantean Clan of our Race. There are a dozen others that once lived here as well after we fled the Ori and their persecution." she said knowing her own history. "Please, call me Jonas. What is it we can do for you?" he asked her. "I understand your planet is one of the few capable of establishing a connection to Destiny. I wish to negotiate the use of your planet to establish a supply line." Vici said bluntly. "Our scientists have not yet determined it is safe to tap our planet for that kind of power." Ovirda said stubbornly. Vici just smiled at him. "Ambassador, have your people even designed a basic spaceship yet?" she asked him. "No, we have not." he told her indignantly. "Well I have, the most recent one was improving a ship capable of flying into a star itself, collecting the Stellar Plasma created by it to power engines capable of faster than light travel. All while experiencing not one bit of turbulence from the various factors when flying into what is essentially a nuclear reaction on a cosmic scale. I think I can handle simple planetary dynamics to ensure that your planet experiences no danger in tapping the planet for the necessary power. The question is, what is it you are requesting from me in return to do so? There is a lot of technology aboard Atlantis that we just unlocked that will be able to improve your systems far more than you could ever imagine possible. Especially as I am told you have experienced first hand the potential consequences of handling technology improperly." she said without a hint of sarcasm in her voice as Ovirda looked at her. "What kind of technology are you offering?" he asked her bluntly. "Well first would be power generation and Stargate connectivity as I was informed you have disconnected it from drawing directly from your core. That will actually allow us to install multiple safety devices between the Stargate and your planetary core which will eliminate the risk of explosion. General O'Neill, if we reach an agreement can we count on Earth to supply the necessary personnel and equipment for rapid development?" she asked him as Jack nodded. "Earth will honor any agreement you reach, you are one of us, even if you have been asleep for over 40 million years." Jack said as Jonas Quinn and Ovirda opened their eyes wide in surprise. "Gentlemen, we have 10 weeks to prepare your planet for the first dialing attempt using methods far beyond anything that has been offered before. It will be personally designed by be, but built by the people of Langara and Earth. In exchange, we will improve your people's understanding beyond anything you can imagine." Vici said. "We have schools here your people could learn from to improve your education levels even faster." Jack offered them. "All we ask is you let us help you make this as safe as possible for you. We have no desire to see any harm to the people of Langara, with someone even older than the Ancients, how can we go wrong?" he asked as she showed them the details she had drawn up on her previous trip to Atlantis when Eli told her of them. It was detailed instructions on how to improve their current generators efficiency to over 80 percent when they were lucky to be getting 15. It would also only take their teams a few weeks to deploy, and would create more than enough power for them to store it and use it to dial without creating any dangerous energy spikes. It was so simple even Jonas could tell that the math worked as they would install what were essentially massive capacitors capable of handling more power than he could imagine as he looked at the number of Jules. "This is your plan? Why give us all this information if we haven't agreed to say yes yet?" he asked as it even showed the minerals and alloys they would need. "To show the offer is genuine and serious. Either way you were just given the knowledge to increase your own technology to efficiency levels you could never dream of reaching. It will take 5 weeks to recharge the capacitors to dial again, but it is a system that will enable dialing without drawing any more from the planet than you currently do anyway." Vici told him. Even Ovirda knew it was a gift horse they couldn't ignore. "What exactly will the danger levels be?" he asked. "None, because the capacitors will have diodes restricting the flow of power, if anything happens it will sever the link and power down the Stargate until it is repaired. Instead of drawing massive amounts of power, we will increase your efficiency and store smaller amounts of power until we gather what we need. The part that takes the most power is the connection, once that is done the excess generation once these upgrades are installed will be more than enough to maintain the wormhole for 22 minutes at a time." Vici explained to them as Ovirda finally nodded as Jonas looked at him. "Commander Vici, General O'Neill, you have a deal. We will complete the upgrades detailed in this so long as you provide the equipment and personnel to assist in building a secure area to store all of this tech at. In addition to the agreement we already have for protection." Ovirda said as Jack leaned forward. "I can have 1,000 Combat Engineers on Langara tomorrow and ships of supplies there in 4 days. I assure you that when we get ready to dial you won't believe the difference." Jack said to them both before they shook hands.
