Chapter 23

It was an awkward dinner that night, the night if the WIC raze, Ryoka, Adrian and Damien all sat at the table all looking at the meal in front of them, it would take some getting used to before Adrian’s presence would stop being awkward, Ryoka guessed, she also acknowledged the fact that she was now the only female amongst the two male.

“So, do we say grace before eating or something” Adrian asked breaking the awkward silence and inactivity, Ryoka actually felt for him, he must be so hungry, she was sure, after all they couldn’t have fed him well enough at the facility, although he wasn’t really looking worse for wear, but the sunken parts were visible to notice that he had been underfed.

“Well we don’t usually but if you want…to” Ryoka said but didn’t finish her statement before Adrian said “Oh good then” and then dug into his food and started eating, gobbling through the food as hungry as Ryoka had suspected him to be.

Damien rolled his eyes and also started to eat, he had been blatantly open when Ryoka brought Adrian and had rejected Adrian even while he was there, right to his face.

“It is difficult enough for us two to get along without our heads on the line, we always have to stay under the radar and run for our lives whenever we are exposed, how easy do you think it will be if we add another person?” Damien had argued to them both when the got out of the car as they arrived from the facility hit and rescue job.

Adrian had been silent, although on the ride home he had told his story to Ryoka while they were both seated at the back of the car, Ryoka’s eyes had glistened with tears as she listened but she had hid it.

“We can’t abandon him now, where would you suggest he go? The WIC will definitely be looking for him now, he might as well join us because they will definitely be looking for us as well even if they don’t know us yet, they soon will, he joining us means two dragons in our arsenal, special gen. dragons at that” Ryoka answered rightly arguing her point as well.

Damien tightened his knuckles together in frustration till they whitened, then he relaxed finally giving in, she is so stubborn after all and they would only keep arguing on it till he still gave in to her wishes at the end of the day, Damien could really see the family trait in them all.

That moment had been crucial for Adrian despite the fact that he did not say anything, he had only one thought and one wish, for him to be accepted by this unlikely duo, in all honesty he had been surprised to see Ryoka come in to save him and burst up the facility all on her own and all without using her dragon, only the dragon’s abilities, he for one isn’t really good at that.

When he got to know she had just one person in support and the person was just a getaway driver, he got wowed all the more, her determination was just way off the charts and this was exactly what he needed, after all he was after the very same thing she is after, that is the end of the WIC Inc.

After dinner Ryoka sat outside, she was looking up at the night sky and was just reminiscing on nothing in particular when Adrian came to sit beside her and for a short while they just stay there in silence.

“Did you really run away from home just to try and fight and get back at the WIC for what they did to your family?” Ryoka asked him breaking the silence between them.

“I did, my mother didn’t understand, she was too docile, scared of what the WIC could do to us if they find us, but then why don’t we do something to them before they have the chance to do something to us? I would always ask her, but she would always tell me it wasn’t time to fight yet, she and my elder siblings, all six of them were just too soft” Adrian said still angry at the fact that his family was weak.

Ryoka looked at him for a while, “So what were you able to finally do to them before you got caught?” she asked him, she didn’t get the full gist in the car as they were coming, now was a good chance as any for her to really get to know who Adrian is.

“Well, I wasn’t able to achieve much” he replied “For months, I cut off their resupply and restocking efforts, I’d burn up the vans and trucks they used, sometimes especially when I had just newly started, I would he able to get the provisions and deliver them to places in actual need of it like the orphanage and elderly homes” he said to Ryoka who nodded as she listened.

“One time, they were able to trace the supplies back to the orphanage I took them to, and caused a whole lot of trouble for them, and then packed every last provision they had there, I blocked them on their way back to the WIC and dealt with them all, then I returned all the provisions, after this though, I started taking the provisions even farther away so to trace would be harder” Adrian continued.

“Wow you’ve really done so much, and you were able to help the community as well, that really is something” Ryoka said and placed her hand on his shoulder in a reassuring way.

“Naa, all I managed to do was pause their activities, they still kicked back from the damage I caused them I’m sure, but you, with the damage you did, even if they will kick back, it will take a while and will definitely not be easy” Adrian responded to her.

“Well, it was a one time thing, It really doesn’t matter, I found the address to that place by, call it fate or luck, so I had to make it worthwhile, since I couldn’t do it again from lack of knowledge of their facilities locations” Ryoka said and signed.

“You really want to hit them back uhn?” Adrian asked her in a serious tone, this is what he himself wanted, the perfect partner to work with in bringing down the WIC.

“Yes, I want to hit them, with everything I’ve got” Ryoka said also serious and stern.

“So what if you had the locations of their facilities?” Adrian asked again, he wanted to hear it from her, she had to say it for herself so it becomes more than a conviction, it becomes an objective, a goal.

“If I get the locations of their facilities, I won’t rest till I have saved those that need saving that I can save and then destroy the facility itself, I’m going to leave a trail of destruction and devastation for them” Ryoka answered, it was as if she already had this in mind, she didn’t even think about it before she gave the reply straight away.

Adrian smiled and nodded, if only his mother and siblings could see him now, they had thought it impossible for him to do any harm against the WIC, but right now, with one facility down, and almost every other location in his head, he could caused them serious devastation, just like Ryoka had said, well, with her help of course.

“Ryoka, I have nothing well over fifty locations of the WIC facilities, companies even warehouses and factories, right here in my head, those here in Japan and in other countries as well and I also know how to get more locations of where they are situated, even their black sites, my mother knows all of that, she had once worked with the WIC after all, hence why she is hiding from them, so what do you say to a partnership aimed like a spear to the heart of the WIC? Me and you especially, bringing them down to their knees” Adrian said to Ryoka who stood up smiling wickedly and then she faced him and stretched her hand out to him for a handshake.

“Let us agree to never ever go back on this, no matter what, not until we have succeeded and achieved the end of the evil reign of the WIC on this earth” Ryoka said and Adrian took her hand and they shook hands. “Deal!” Adrian responded.

By the window inside the room, Damien was peeping all the while they spoke and saw them as they shook hands, he hadn’t heard what they discussed but he knew that no good could come from such banding together of victims.
