“I don’t like this plan, I’m not in agreement with this plan at all, in short, I am totally against it” Damien argued persistently, it had only been two days since Adrian joined them, and to Damien, he was already instigating bad ideas, he had initially argued that Adrian was bad company, a bad influence to Ryoka, he had sounded like a whining overprotective elder brother.
“C’mon Damien, what’s there not to like? It is a totally foolproof plan, a quick get in get out job, even Ryoka agrees with me” Adrian responded slyly, he had brought up the plan at breakfast, and as planned by him and Ryoka, although they made it look like she was oblivious to the plan, they were to execute it before dinner time, and the time was fast approaching.
Adrian and Ryoka had devised not to tell Damien of any plans they had until it was too late for him to try to stop it, they had both also agreed not to tell Damien about Adrian knowing the locations of WIC holdings, Ryoka brought this idea partly because she was still suspicious of Damien and also because Damien was being too overly careful despite being in agreement with her to hit back at the WIC Inc.
Damien was all about being careful, being well planned and well prepared, being kind of complacent especially with the fact that they are not achieving anything except perfecting the art or running and escaping from the WIC over and over again, a kind of good defense is best offense mentality he lived with and is still imposing on Ryoka despite her wish to clash with the WIC Inc.
Ryoka didn’t want that, she didn’t want the kind of complacent incompetent lifestyle Damien is leading, she wants to make a mark, not just any mark, not a dent, but rather a serious blow at the WIC, she wanted to hurt them as they had hurt her family, they are even still hurting her after all she is still on the run, unable to live a normal life as a normal person with her family, her dad was far away and her mother could have been nonexistent as it stands, so it is only right that she hurt them back.
The closest thing Ryoka had to a mother was the entity that plagued had dreams and demanded she be called Mother, lately the dreams had been shifting, changing in style and pattern, especially since after the WIC laboratory facility hit, now the scenery showed more of how the dragon continent had been, and the kind of life they lived, Mother showed her the way of life of Eldrians in clips and slides of images and memory run through, it was as if she was learning by watching videos.
The more convinced Ryoka keeps getting about hitting the WIC, the more Mother seemed to get pleased with her in the dreams, now she was demanding Ryoka bring Adrian into the link, Ryoka guessed that she must mean the link they shared where they could communicate via dreams like this, but then she had absolutely no idea how to add anyone into the link, it wasn’t as simple as cable subscriptions like Netflix where you could just add anyone else to share with after all.
That very night that Ryoka and Adrian had made the agreement, Adrian had suggested they hit one of their warehouses first, so they could grab lots and lots of provisions that they would need, this included weapons that would be needed as well to help them in their fight against the WIC, and Ryoka had gladly agreed, she was at least glad to have Adrian who was a person of action and had the same conviction and determination as her.
The only issue about the plan was that they needed their dragon forms, especially to be able to carry all that they snag from the warehouse in terms of provisions and weapons and also because Adrian had a speculation that they might have a dragon on standby but he was fairly sure it would be a dn mutant a new generation, nothing they couldn’t handle if they worked together.
This became slight of an issue because for the next two days, Ryoka tried shifting again and found it right back to its usual difficult state, it was infuriating for her to say the least, and out of a total of about eight tries, she was successful just twice, this bothered Adrian a bit but bothered Ryoka even more, granted that she had been on the verge of sure and instant death before she could finally shift into her dragon for the first time, but then that first time should have just paved the way open thereby making the shift easy and usual, but then, here she was back to square almost zero.
Damien had also been suspicious of the two within those two days of rigorous training and bonding and synchronous battle sequences that his two wards were doing, to him it was too specific and way too detailed to just be a normal round of training, and it wasn’t until they told him about the plan to hit another WIC place that it now made sense to him, at first he had wanted to be suspicious of why they did not let him in on the plan till it was late, but then he figured it must because of the fact that he wasn’t a shifting dragon like they are, and then obviously he would try to stop them, so it was understandable that they’ll act as teenagers and leave the adult out of it.
But of course they had been training for that, they had prepared the battle sequence using what Adrian knew about the warehouse, the layout and its security system as at when he had last scouted the place, which hadn’t been too long since ut was the last place he scouted and planned on hitting before he got caught and locked up by the WIC.
They had prepared to fight as both of them in their normal human form, that is if there wasn’t any dragon to be seen on site, and they would only use their dragon to pack the provisions and weapons away, and then they had also prepared to fight with Adrian as a dragon and Ryoka in human form, should in case she wasn’t able to call her shift successfully at the time of battle, this plan had Adrian carrying both Ryoka and the stuffs they gathered back and that meant they would carry fewer stuffs.
Then lastly they had planned and prepared to fight with both of them as dragons, they had worked on this the most as at the two times Ryoka had shifted successfully during training, Adrian actually needed for this particular plan to work because only then would the rate of the chance they would have for success be higher, it also meant that they would get to carry even more things away from the warehouse, but either ways, he was prepared not to let the warehouse remain standing either they were successful or not, and there was no way he would allow the WIC to successfully capture him for the second time, one long moment of hell was enough.
Ryoka had been dead calm when Damien argued against the plan as they told him about it that morning she noticed he was also pained that he hadn’t known about it earlier, but to her, that only meant he had rightfully suspected that they had made the plan earlier, even though they had played it as if it was a spontaneous idea and plan build up by Adrian.
Ryoka was determined to keep up the ruse that they had just made the plan that very day though, so she and Adrian had all through the day before it was time for the hit pretended to prepare and plan for the hit, crafting and planning and suggesting and making battle plans.
She was determined to root out why she was so suspicious of the guy despite her tender feelings towards him, she decided to trust her gut feelings this time though, she chose the gut feelings over the heart feelings, that way if the gut got hurt, she would still be able to recover unlike if the heart got hurt.
“Ryoka, think about this, this is just being reckless, I know you want to avenge your family and the other families that the WIC had wronged, but I believe we can be more rational about it, it would do us and the families no good if you were to die, who would avenge them then, and if you die how would you do the avenging that is needed to be done uhn?” Damien said to Ryoka as she and Adrian did the final packing up of the few weapons and extra clothes that they would need and then they as well packed a whole lot of ropes, the better to tie up crates and bags for easier carriage by dragons.
“Damien, you want to remain careful and rational, that is the main reason we are not having you come for this hit, not even as a getaway driver this time around, so don’t you worry, and if I die uhn, stay true to the objective, find someone else to take up the cause and then use me as an example whenever the person is being reckless and irrational” Ryoka responded to Damien.
“But right now though, I am only and all about destroying the WIC however I could even if it is by pinching them, I know that surely if I keep doing it, eventually I’ll make them bleed” she said to him and hefted her bag, following Adrian who was already out of the door.
