Dragon Bound

Chapter 21

Dante and Dai had been one their own since they were very young, they roamed the streets of Tokyo and fended for themselves however they could, one thing they had going for them was that they always had each other’s backs, so there was no way you could cheat them or swindle them or bully them.

While growing up, Dante had a huge frame of a body build, he was bulky and as he grew, and so he exercised and pumped himself in the gym, then he as well started to learn the martial arts, his skill set included strength and power behind heavy hits and unexpected agility along with intelligence that was beyond his peers and elders, he figured these were skills he must have so as to conquer the streets, and by the time he was a teenager, he had done so.

Dai on the other hand was sleek, having a female frame and body build, but she did not let that deter her from building herself up as well and before long, even with her sleek female body, she could lift weights that would make grown men groan without she breaking a sweat. Her skill sets did not stop there as well, she also had extraordinary agility and flexibility along with speed and precision which she maximized with her hits and throws especially when it came to using weapons.

The siblings were know on the streets as Double-Danger, and woe unto whoever crosses them or chooses to go after them either to hurt anyone of them or to cheat or bully them in any way, no one ever comes up on top of the siblings, they were that ruthless.

Their renown was what got the attention of some agents who worked for the WIC, but as at then they did not bother to check them out, since their parents were unknown, they couldn’t trace if the kids had what they were looking for, the dn gene.

But then, what really got the full attention of the WIC was the hit that the Double-Danger made on them, the siblings hit one of their warehouses and stole lots of provisions and equipment, it was such a clean job such that they wiped the security detail off without any issues and successfully carried out their plan without any hiccups, just the two of them at that.

It was just one hidden camera which they did not take account of that exposed them, but even at that, it was very hard for the WIC to find them and get a hold of them, and even by the time they did, the siblings had already sold off most of the equipment for parts and had done away with most of the provisions as well and were even already planning to hit the WIC again.

This tenacity piqued the interest of the WIC and then they took them in and tested them for the dn gene only to find out that they were indeed Eldrian descendants and that they had the genes in absolute abundance, so much so it was reflecting on them as humans, this doesn’t usually happen, and it was because of this that the siblings could grow so much in self taught skills and abilities and at such a pace.

Without wasting any time the WIC experimented on the siblings and converted them, they both produced the rarest of the new generation dragons or dn mutants as commonly known, they were both diamond-backs, and with the same speed as of when they were humans, they as well maximized their dragon, getting near perfect within a short period of time, thanks to their determination.

They got inserted into the WIC force and there they rose through the ranks with such speed as expected from those who the Eldrian gene has favored so much, before long they were captains of different units, commanding a whole lot of other dn mutants.

What the WIC failed to notice though, was that the Double-Danger never stopped that operation, as soon as they were inserted amongst the ranks, they started hitting the company subtly in anyway they could, trying to clean the streets where they operated and even cripple their system as a whole.

They got successful a lot of times but there were times when they had to abort, gradually they started to bring in others who they trusted but only a select few and with that their network spread all through the network of the WIC itself.

That was what led them here now, facing the choice of either saving six kids or fighting an original Eldrian, a volcanis at that, so called because their specialty is breathing lava-like flames, liquid and thick that sticks to whatever it touches and burns it till its nothing but crisps.

After hiding the kids, the siblings came out to face the descending volcanis and held each other’s hands, whatever would go down her tonight, they would be in it together as they always have.

“What is the meaning of this?” the volcanis asked using mind speak as he descended, he was still in his dragon form he didn’t shift back to human form, ‘Playing it wise’ Dante noted to himself.

“Why are you here Dante, and Dai, this is way out of your section, so I’ll ask again, what is going on here?” the vocanis asked again speaking straight into their minds.

“Verne, my friend, I know you are not dumb as to believe any excuse we give to you right now, plain and simple, this is a rebellion act currently undergoing, we really just couldn’t stand back and keep watching the indiscretions of the WIC Inc” Dante answered.

The siblings knew the older dragon, he had a long history with the WIC and led a lot of revolts against them during his prime, but the WIC had ran the revolt spirit out of him and finally defeated his will, if only there was a way to resurrect that will, then maybe there wouldn’t have to he a fight tonight.

“Dante, Dai, you both really should have known better than act against the WIC, while hou were growing, I told you about my mistakes then and taught you to learn from them, but here I find you making those same mistakes” Verne said to the siblings.

“On the contrary, old man, your stories did motivate us to take this moves and we did learn from your mistakes, to you it nay look like it now, seeing as we’re caught, but believe me, the plan was never to get caught” Dante said to their old friend.

“Dai, you stayed with me longer and in a way, you’re still under my unit, are you in agreement with your brother, I know he has always been hot headed but you are more rational, think about this and stop this nonsense this instant, I’m willing to keep it to myself and forgo the whole incidence” Verne said to Dai.

“I’m sorry pa, but you yourself once stood for this because it is the right thing to do, you stopped because you were weak against them, you do say so yourself, we are not as weak, so why not let us continue, pa they have moved onto kids, they are not waiting for them to become teenagers anymore like during our time, please pa, reason with us” Dai said pleadingly to the old volcanis, she would really love to avoid fighting the man if they could, she felt it was just wrong.

Verne signed loudly, “Well, I always wished for an honorable death, if it would come from your hands then let it be so, nothing would make me happier, but if I win and I kill you both, then both of you would forever go on as my greatest mistake and regret” he said consigning himself to be against them.

“So be it” Dante and Dai replied, then taking an inch of a breath, the volcanis spurted out his liquid fire aiming at the siblings but then they weren’t there anymore, they were high above him in the sky, transformed in large obsidian dragons, supposing they could breathe fire, they would have roasted him from above with the time they had been above him.

Noticing this, the old dragon spurred into action as well and flew upwards to meet the siblings, it was a clash of claws and tails and horns in which the volcanis had the disadvantage, he was up against two of the most formidable battle only dragons after all.

He spurted his flames, but they did little damage to the creatures whose scales were as hard as diamonds hence their name diamond-back.

Before long, the siblings had tore into their old mentor and done him in, they gave him a swift death as he was deserving, he had put up a valiant effort of a fight after all, and they would both bear the scars proudly to honor him.

As both siblings stood over the dead dragon, a new idea spurred out of the mind of Dante, a new way out had just presented itself to them.

They would blame the incident on the old dragon, everyone knows him for his rebelliousness, it wouldn’t take much to convince everyone that he had been the orchestrator behind all the previous hits and this as well, but then for this Dai had caught him after a few suspicions and enlisted Dante’s help and together they confronted him but he put up a fight and in the process, burnt up everything in the container as well.

It was convenient and convincing, besides they had the battle scars to prove it, nothing was as evidential as battle scars, this had just become their saving grace, a way for them both to still be in the game although the game would have to pause for a long time for now.

And then as for the kids, Dai would still take them far far away, and she would take care of them on and off from WIC work now that she doesn’t have to take the fall anymore.

They both went back to the kids and welcomed them to the family, one day, the kids will also have to do their part in trying to save the world from its current major problem, the WIC Inc.
