‘Belinda,’ said Dr Randle, ‘from what I can see you would be a perfect candidate for the surgery. If you are willing to give it a go, I can book you in for tomorrow morning.’
So soon.
It was crazy. This was what I wanted, but I hadn’t expected it to take place so quickly. Excitement thrummed through my body at the thought I might have my eyesight back in less than twenty-four hours.
‘The procedure will take at least two hours, and you must realise there are no guarantees. What I am proposing to do could have no effect on your eyesight at all, or it might lead to only partial improvement.’
‘Even partial improvement would have to be better than not being able to see at all,’ I said.
‘So you want to go ahead with the procedure? You understand the risks involved?’
