The escape: CHP1
Chp 1: the escape
Once upon a time my family believed that I would attend the best schools, attend the smartest college and be the best law enforcer. That was before they decided I was too much trouble and cast me out from the enriched tanglement of vines they caught me in. The money, fame and generous serving of “love” was enough to lure any person into their life. However once you see behind the scenes of their lovely facade you’ll lose all the appetite you had until then.
My story begins in the midst of a cloudy fall night. The faint moonlight would have been a sight to behold if I weren’t on the run from my once faithful hounds. Shadows blinking between each window and heavy breaths scratching throughout my throat left my eyes bloodshot. Glancing every which way trying to find an escape route my eyelids grew dry preventing my vision from clearing. The vicious hounds grew louder like sirens crying for their prey to come closer.
An unfortunate maid had come into my lane of sight helplessly minding her own business trying to make ends meet with the small salary she was granted in her position. Dashing past her with a swift snap against her skull she fell to the ground falling victim to the bloodthirsty beasts chasing me. Only one of the three massive dogs stopped to devour her flesh leaving me to the other two.
One of the dogs chasing me was my best friend for the first 12 years of my life. I never would have imagined that I would let his fangs be the last things i see before my death but he grew closer by the second. Finally a window that had not been barred yet was maybe three meters away. My strides grew longer while using the last strength I had rushing to break through it’s glass.
As I was crashing through the glass, yelps came from the halls echoed throughout the entire mansion, waking every guard that was not already awake lurking through the mysterious place I grew to fear over the past year. My bloodied body managed to twist mid fall helping my pain to lessen upon contact with the cold snow below.
The guard tower spotlight honed in on me giving me the biggest disadvantage I had ever seen. Guards came pouring out of the garden doorway. Quickly limping to the gate was not enough to escape this hell. The overwhelming sound of chains hitting each other combined with deep booming voices caused my head to go blank. My body collapsed, staining the snow with warm sticky blood. The booming voices slowly changed to screaming. Something was coming this way, something bad enough to give me a second chance to crawl out unnoticed.
Their screams were like music to my ears, every one of those fuckers deserved the death that awaited them from within those gates.
