Chapter 29 Tori's POV This sh*t happened way too fast. At first, I didn't know what was going on, but Cord was out here before Rachel was. He was talking to his friends. I saw Rachel coming out of the house toward us. When she got closer, she didn't even come over to me; instead, she walked over to this girl. I knew this girl; her name was Packer. She has been a member of my brother's pack for years, though she had never been to a collection with us before. Mainly a warrior, she fights the rogues. What did my sister want to talk to her about? But after they talked, the girl walked toward the guys. Everything happened so fast. Cord looked over at my sister, then at that girl. They went a ways from us to talk, then he came back. That's when I heard them rejecting each other in the kindest of ways. Then, he looked at her. I was trying to tell her to tell him to stay with her because he looked like he didn't want to go with the other girl. I think Cord was in love with my sister but didn't want to say anything. When she didn't say anything, he gently let go of her hands to go to Packer. I saw my sister leave the training grounds. I walked away from the training grounds and slowly walked home. I wanted to leave her be for a few minutes. When I made it to the house, I saw Cord's bag on the table waiting for him. Shaking my head, I knew my sister needed me; I could feel it. So I walked upstairs to her room, knocking on her door. "Sis, it's me. Let me inside, okay? I know you need me." I heard footsteps and the lock being unlocked. She opened the door, letting me inside, and then she closed it. "Honey, are you okay? I know this has to be hard, but I promise you will get through this." When I looked into her eyes, I knew she loved that guy. She let him go, but why? "Sweetie, if you loved him, why did you let him go? He was waiting for you to tell him to stay with you. He loves you." I heard her sigh, then she cleaned her face off. "Because I didn't want to be selfish. They are true mates. I didn't want to be the reason he didn't go to her. I wanted him to go so he could be truly happy. I'll be okay. It's going to be hard seeing them around the pack, and then we will move with Bear." Well, honey, you're going to be his Gamma, so you're going to be busy with a lot of stuff. You won't even have time to think about Cord and that girl. I know they will be in the same pack, but everything will be okay, I promise. We were so busy talking that we didn't hear anyone coming inside the house, but we did hear footsteps on the stairs and then a knock on the door. "Listen, it's him. Just say your goodbyes, okay? You need this, Rachel. I'll keep his mate busy. I'll give you thirty minutes, okay?" She nodded, and then I opened the door to let him inside. Cord's POV: I knew my mate was here this morning. I didn't know where she was when I first got here, but I knew she was here this morning. I got out of bed, took a shower, and then headed outside. I didn't see her at first, but when the guys came outside, I walked over to them, acting like everything was okay. I saw Rachel coming out of the house, and I was tense. I didn't know how to tell her that I found my mate. However, I loved Rachel. These past few days that we spent together, I fell in love with her. I knew she saw me talking to my friends, so she walked over to where her sister was. I was nervous, but then she opened her mind up so I could read her thoughts. She had told my mate to come to me, letting me know it was okay. I slowly turned around to look at her and then at my mate, walking over to her. "Hey, let's go over there and talk, okay?" My mate nodded, and we walked a few feet away so no one would hear us talking. "Listen, I know we are mates, okay, but I can't just leave her like this. I need to speak with her, if that's okay." "I know you do. My name is Packer, and I do accept you as my mate. I was hoping she wouldn't, and this would be so easy. I could stay with Rachel, but she accepted me as her mate. So, I did the same with her. But again, I told her I still needed to speak with her. Like I said, I can't just leave her like this." She nodded, and then I walked away from her to go talk to Rachel. When I got to her, I held her hands in mine. I wanted to tell her so much. I wanted to tell her I was in love with her. I didn't want Packer; I wanted her. But the words just didn't come out. The look on her face, I will never forget when we rejected each other. I held her while we went through the pain. Then I walked away to go back to Packer. I would learn to love her, maybe I could. When I got back to Packer, we went to her house and talked for a while. All I could do was think about Rachel, how I just left her standing there. This is not right, not right at all. Packer stood up and stood me up. "Listen, you two need closure. You need to go get your things from her house. So go talk to her, but make this the last time, okay? I know it's going to be hard. I went through this before when I picked a chosen mate, and he ended up finding his mate. Trust me, it's hard, but we will get through this, okay?" I nodded, then I softly kissed her. I rushed out of the house and went to get my things. I was hoping I could go up to the room to pack, but when I walked inside, I saw my bag on the coffee table. s**t, she's not going to get away from me this fast. Walking upstairs, Tori opened the door. She told me thirty minutes, and she would be back up there. I nodded and said okay. I walked into the bedroom, shutting the door behind me. Rachel was on the bed with her knees pulled up. Walking over, I sat down beside her. I couldn't hold it back anymore. She was my first love; I needed to make sure she was okay.
