Chapter 40
Rachel's POV
After dinner, Cole showed me to my room. He told me that I would be in his room only when I was ready. He doesn't want to rush anything. John showed Mohawk his room. I didn't want Cole to leave just yet. I wanted him to stay. I wanted to make sure he was real and that he wasn't going to leave. My wolf was freaking out, wanting him to mate and mark us right now, but I told her no, not yet, just wait. When he was walking out, I asked him, "Could you just stay for a while, watch some TV with me, let us get to know each other? If you don't want to do that, then at least stay until I fall asleep." Walking over to me, he said, "I will do whatever you want to do. If you want to watch TV all night, if you want to talk and get to know each other, or have me stay until you fall asleep, I will do that. But warning, I might fall asleep beside you." I let out a chuckle then said, "I wouldn't mind that at all, but let me change first. How about you go change as well, and I will meet you back here." He nodded and then rushed out to go change. I didn't care what he wore as long as he wasn't naked. I'm not ready for that right now. I hurried to shower, dried off, and then got dressed in sweatpants and a hoodie. It was just a little chilly; us wolves do not get cold, but we do get chilly. I decided to change into pajama pants and a shirt that would warm me up nicely. When I walked out of the bathroom, he was there waiting for me. I gave him a smile and then looked him up and down. He was only wearing sweatpants. My eyes went to his chest, then lowered to his v-line. Oh, goddess, help me. He has a tattoo on his chest up to his neck. When I looked at his hands, he had tattoos on his hands as well. Yep, he was the man in my dreams. "Do you like what you're looking at? You know I am all yours, right?" I blushed as I knew I got busted checking him out. I couldn’t help it; he looked sexy as hell, and I could eat him up all night long. This man was made just for me. And damn, his abs... I could just lick for days. I nodded, and then I said, "Yes, I do like what I see." He let out a chuckle and walked toward me, putting my hand on his chest. "You can touch any time you want." We got into bed and talked about what we liked and didn't like – our favorite foods, drinks, colors, everything from rogues and everything else. I didn't know what time I fell asleep, but I felt so safe with him beside me. Maybe this was what I was missing all along. It felt a little strange, but I could get used to this. I didn't dream that night. Perhaps it was because my mate was right beside me; it was something different. I was all ready for it to happen. Maybe this guy beside me wasn't my mate, and my true mate was inside my dreams, but the dreams never came. It felt amazing. When morning came, I heard the sound of birds chirping by my window. I had to look because it sounded really cool. Getting out of bed, I went to the window, opened the curtains, and saw the sun shining brightly outside. There was a bird's nest outside the window; little baby robins were chirping away, wanting their momma to come and feed them. I closed the curtains so I wouldn't disturb them, went to the bathroom to splash water on my face, and then brushed my teeth. I honestly didn't know what to do since I wasn't really here to check out the rogue problem. So what else was there to do? I knew he was already up; he was probably in his office. So when I got dressed and slipped on my sandals, I headed toward his office. I was met by several pack members bowing their heads at me, calling me Luna. I had to stop this; there is no need to bow their heads at me. So I kindly said, "Guys, you really don't have to do that. Just say hi to me; you don't have to bow your heads at me. As long as you respect me, I will respect you." One of the girls came up, saying,
Hi Miss Luna, aren't you the mafia king's daughter? I thought this was what we were supposed to do. I wondered what her name was, so I asked her.
"Honey, what is your name?"
"My name is Penny."
"Well, Penny, yes, I am the mafia king's daughter, but now my brother Isaiah is the mafia king. Nevertheless, you still do not need to bow to me. Everything is okay, I promise. You won't get into trouble if you don't bow your head to me. I won’t mind at all," she nodded, then said, "Okay, thank you for speaking with me, Luna. I will let everyone know." She hugged me and then walked away. Well, that was a simple and easy talk. I started walking down the hallway when I noticed the office door was closed, so I simply knocked. Hearing his voice, "Rachel, you don't have to knock, honey. You can come on inside," I opened the door and walked inside. "Do you want me to shut the door?" he nodded, so I shut it. Once I walked over, he got up to move around the desk. He moved over to me, pulling me close. He kissed my cheek, then my forehead.
"So, how did you sleep? Are you well-rested?"
“I actually slept very peacefully. Thank you for staying with me until I fell asleep.
Well, to be honest, I slept by your side all night. Then I knew I had work to do, so I got up early, showered, and came down here to get the work done. How about we try my room next? If you are comfortable, you can sleep in there with me. I had to think about this. Well, we had already slept in the same bed together. I’m acting childish, so I need to stop being nervous.
"You know, that does sound like a good idea. Let's sleep in your room tonight. I mean, we are mates. I need to stop being scared and suck it up," I saw his eyes light up, damn those beautiful green eyes I could just get lost in them. We were talking about making popcorn and watching a movie after his work was done when someone opened the door. I heard him growl,
"What is it, Rida? What was so important that you had to come in here without knocking and interrupt my time with my mate? You know damn well to knock when I have my door closed. The only one that doesn't have to knock is my mate." She stood there in one spot, looking shocked to hear him talk to her like that. Why was she looking at him like that?
Then suddenly, I had a vision. Why I was having this, I don’t know. It looked like it was in the past, but how long in the past? I did not like this, and I have a feeling she did this on purpose to interrupt us.
"I'm sorry, Alpha, I didn't know Luna was in here. Maybe I should come back some other time," she was walking out. Oh no, she won't. She is going to say what she needs before she walks out.
"So, you tell me that you won't say what you wanted in front of me. Why not? It’s not like I didn't know you slept with my mate." Her jaw dropped open, but she shut it. She recovered quickly.
"He told you?"
"No, but you just did. That's in the past, so if you came in here to try to create a little drama, it won't work."
