The Escape
Today was the day most women feared. The day where the single billionaire men chose a bride. If you weren’t chosen you were considered lucky. If you were chosen, say goodbye to everyone you know. But not me. No, I wanted to be chosen. I want some man to take me away from my nightmare of a home. Nothing could be worse than the abuse. I don’t care if the man is a Vampire, it can’t be worse than the cold, wet, sleepless nights. I just need to escape this hell. I thought to myself as I waited in a line as the most popular Vampire studied each girl before him.
Isaiah Dirge. If I remember correctly he is the last surviving member of his family. Every year he has refused to chose a bride but this year broke the world. When he announced that he was looking for someone he did not hesitate to announce how very strict he would be in what he is looking for.
You see, only the males are vampires well, all of them now. There hasn’t been a female vampire for a thousand years. Some of the female vampires created a cult and tried take over the world and can get rid of the male vampires. One thing lead to another and now there are no more female vampires. That’s what happens when you get power hungry I guess.
“Give me the next girl in line.” Isaiah said, waving the girl in front of him away.
I was shoved up front, almost staggering into him. His iced blue eyes pierced into my soul, like he was searching for something. I didn’t know what to do or if I should even say something. But I didn’t want to ruin my chance, I could tell my stepfather was getting frustrated with the requirement of being here. I just prayed Isaiah didn’t send me away.
Suddenly his stern face softened, he took his time to study me, circling my body, looking me up and down.
I was a small thing, my stepfather made sure that I wasn’t given too much food. He hates heavy girls. My long blonde hair was brushed into a loose pony tail stopping at the middle of my back with stray hairs alongside my face. I was dressed very casual (jeans, a t-shirt, etc.) because my stepfather is banking on the fact that I’ll be going home with him since Isaiah Dirge is in dress pants, shoes and a white dress shirt tucked in with the collar open.
Isaiah stop right in front of me. Staring down on me, he grinned and held his hand out.
“And your name is?”
“Alexandria.” I gently placed my hand into his.
“Well Alexandria, how about we start a new life together.” He rubbed his thumb across my hand.
I was lost for words. Actually I forgot how to breathe. Everyone just stopped what they were doing. Jaws dropped tot he floor. Even flies stopped buzzing.
He.
Chose.
Me.
He chose me and all I could do was nod my head.
“Good.” He pulled me closer. “I’m helping you escape from hell. But don’t worry, I will not hurt you like he does.”
