12- Malachi

This was getting borderline obsessive. I know, but I just couldn't help it. I just wanted to catch a glimpse of her. Taking a deep breath, I walked across the field and took a seat on the empty bench. I made sure to keep my face stoic and seemingly unapproachable.  Most were too afraid to come up to me since I would be their King one day. However, that was not the case with all. Mostly with girls. They wanted to seduce me, hoping that I would fall in love with them and make them the future Queen. What they failed to realize, or just chose to ignore, was the fact that I was of royal blood. Therefore, I will have a mate out there waiting for me. A mate that I hope I found sooner rather than later. "Malachi," a high-pitched voice said beside me, letting me know almost instantly who it was. "Tabitha," I said in a monotone voice.  I should have never encouraged her, Sure she was fun for a while, but now she just wouldn't take the hint and go away. "We haven't hung out in a while." she gave me a coy smile. When I didn't respond, she inched closer, angling her body towards me, and began running her nails against my forearm.  Once upon a time, I would have responded to the obvious signals. Now, all it did was make me want to run away from her and her touch.  "Yeah, I've been busy." my voice once again flat, hoping to dissuade her from continuing whatever plans she had.  "Maybe I can help you relax and forget a bit," she said, trying to make her voice sound sultry but failed. Her breast was pushed up against my arm, her hands slowly trying to make their way towards my chest. "No thanks. I'm just trying to clear my mind and think." I said, but she didn't take the hint.  Before she could say another word, I saw Annabelle walking across the yard towards her dorm. Quickly and shake off Tabatha and stood up, "Catch you around." I said, over my shoulder, already walking away, trying to control my feet and keep them from running.  Annabelle quickly disappeared into the building, and I followed. I don't know what it is about the girl. There was just something about her that called to me.  I had never felt that before, not even with my ex, which I cared deeply for. I don't think I ever really loved her, but she was kind and sweet, so easy to get along with. Yet I let her go. It had just been too easy to be with here. There was no passion, no fights, not even loud, obnoxious laughter. It was comfortable, sure, but that's. Not what I wanted.  Climbing the stairs two steps at a time, I quickly made it to Annabelle's room. Taking a deep breath in and slowly exhaling, it knocked on the door.  Someone opened the door and gasped lightly. "Your Highness," she said, lowering her gaze. I quickly recognized her as the girl Annabelle had lunch with the other day. I couldn't help but smile at the memory. "Hey, what's your name?" I asked, a smile still on my lips.  It took all I had not to start laughing. Her eyes had gone wide, her cheeks a deep red, and I could see her taking short deep breaths, trying to calm herself.  "Mase, who's at the door." I heard Annabelle's soft melodic voice say.  "Maisie?" She said again when the girl, Maisie, did not respond.  "Uh," I let my voice carry into the room for her to hear me. "I think I broke your friend."  The door was pulled fully open, and there beside Maisie stood Annabelle. Towel in hand as she tried to dry her hair. An oversized plain white shirt with Jean shorts gracing her body. Was there nothing she didn't look good in?  Annabelle smiled at the realization that it was me at the door, and I could have sworn I felt Onyx heat at the sight.  "Come in." She said lightly, grabbing her roommate's hand and pulling her inside to make space for me to walk in.  Her laughter filled the room, causing me to smile.  "So, what do I owe this visit to?" She asked to which I just shrugged. I didn't want to seem too desperate by saying I just wanted to see her because I missed her.  Instead, I said, "I got bored and figured we could hang out."  "Well, maybe we can go grab some coffee? Give Maisie enough time to get her brain to stop short-circuiting and maybe then join us?" She peered directly at her friend, who was shooting daggers at her, which caused Annabelle to start laughing.  "Sorry, you're highness, I just did not expect to find you at my door." Maisie said in a low whisper. "You two go ahead. I have a lot of school work to get through."  "I'll bring you back your favorite." Annabelle slipped on her shoes and grabbed the bag on her bed. With a blindingly gorgeous smile, she looked up at me. "Let's go, your highness."  Rolling my eyes, I followed her out the door, suppressing the smile currently trying to escape and take residence on my face.
