7-Malachi

All I could do for the past half an hour was lay in my bed staring at the ceiling. I don't know why I was so bothered that Annabelle had smiled politely at me and excused herself when I said I wanted her to get to know me.  Scoffing loudly, I tossed myself onto my stomach, trying to get comfortable.  Of course, the one girl I want to get to know wants nothing to do with me. Maybe it's karma or payback for all the girls I strung along over the years, with zero intentions of ever being serious with them. Hell, I never even wanted any of them to be friends.  A knock on the door had me pulled out of my thoughts.  "What the hell are you doing to Onyx? Noir can feel his annoyance, which means he then annoys me." Murdoch walked in, sitting on the side of my bed.  With no intentions of explaining to my brothers that I was just moody over a girl who didn't care to know me, I stayed lying on my stomach. Taking a deep breath, I closed my eyes.  Maybe if he bought that I was tired, he'd let me be.  "Why is Sable harassing me to check on you?" Micah came into the room. One brow raised on his face when he sees both Murdock and me here. "Why wasn't I invited to this brotherly pow-wow." He dropped his face acting like he was hurt.  "It's not a pow-wow moron." Murdoch launched one of my pillows, hitting Micah right on the face. I had to hold in my laughter at the indignant look he had.  "Sorry, I'll tell Onyx to tone it down with the dramatics," I mumbled since half of my face was face down smooshed into my pillow. "And why does he have dramatics?" Micah asked. I gave a half-hearted shrug.  Murdoch looked at me intently for who knows how long. I even closed my eyes for a bit, and when I opened them, there he was studying me, trying to peel back whatever layers he thought were there until he got the answer he wanted. "Is this because of your talk to mom and dad?" Micah asked, and I thanked all the beings that watched over me for giving me an out over this conversation. "I guess. I don't want to deal with looking for a wife, or even a mate for that matter. Mates can weaken you, I mean, look at what happened to uncle." It was a low move, but I knew bringing up our uncle would get me out of their minds, at least until Onyx stopped whining to their dragons.  Uncle had been a fierce warrior. Known as Damon the Demon Dragon, he was an almost perfect fighter. Never having lost a fight or battle, and with enough darkness in him that enemies never asked for mercy, knowing it would never come. At least that's how he was until he found his Mate, then all of a sudden, she didn't like him killing. Didn't like him fighting, and Damon the Demon Dragon vanished. In his place stayed Prince Damon, the PeaceKeeper. He tried to talk to everyone and keep the peace. That is until he ran across a Wolf that did not want peace. But because he had promised his Mate he would not fight, they were able to kill him.  "You are not Uncle. And your Mate will not be Ysabel." Murdoch's voice was low, his emotions on the verge of snapping. Uncle was his godfather, and he was the one who trained us all to fight. My brothers nor I had forgiving Ysabel for making him promise not to fight. If he were not compelled to not break his promise to her, he'd be alive today.  "So, do you want mom choosing for you then?" Micah asked, amusement in his voice again. "Cause you know Christine has been buttering her up lately."  "f**k no."   Maybe it was in the way I said it, full of shock and horror. But Murdoch and Micah burst out into fits of laughter.  "Ok, out of my room. I need sleep." I grumbled, still not amused by their laughter.  Once they had left, I turned back onto my back, resuming my stare down with the ceiling. "What is it about her? I can't get her out of my head." I mumbled. She is pure, so is her dragon. What do you mean, her dragon? Isn't she the halfling? Yes. To say I was shocked was an understatement. But if this is true, she could be in danger. Many old bloodlines that have long ago lost their dragons would not be welcoming to this information.
