** TEAGAN’S POV ** “Teagan last call. Get up and get ready for school.” My mom hollers through the door to my bedroom and I throw the covers back and get up. “I’m up mama.” I reply and step into my 2 story walk in closet to pick out my clothes. It’s the final day of school why do I even need to go. I pick out clothes and strip my pj’s off before jumping into my huge walk in shower and stand under the water. I quickly finish getting ready and grab my things before closing and locking my room. I head downstairs and into the kitchen. “Wow you look amazing baby.” Mama says and hugs me. “Happy Birthday sweetheart.” I hug her back before my brother Tyler hugs me also. We sit at the table and the omegas bring out our plates. When my plate is set in front of me all I see is a box. “What’s this?” I ask the Omega whose name is Kelly. “Open it.” My mom piped up and I apologize to Kelly. I unwrap the box and gasp before getting emotional. I lift the fob from the box and without another word I rush out of the pack house to see my dream car. Ferrari Spyder in Burgundy and I look at my mom in tears. “Daddy started saving on your 15th birthday and made sure I knew you had to have it on your 18th bday.” She explains getting emotional. “You have so much responsibility Teagan after tonight’s ceremony, this is one way you can take a break.” “It’s amazing mama. Thank you.” I say hugging her tightly. Suddenly the door to the pack house opens and Tyler walks out carrying both our bags. “Alright alright. We gotta head to school you promised Nico you’d meet him early so he can give you your present.” He reminds me and I roll my eyes. “Alright I remember.” I say taking my bag. Tyler hugs mama and heads to his car. Mama steps closer and has a worried look. “Teagan you need to be very aware today. If you’re temperature rises, or you get a severe headache or throw up you have to get to the woods away from anyone quickly.” She says and I nod cause I’ve been paying attention all day. It’s our last day of senior year and the school is taught and run by my pack but a few humans also attend from the small town a few miles away. The most important rule of being a shifter is keeping our secret. “I promise mama any sign I’ll leave school immediately” I say and get into my car. I hit the start button and when she roars to life I grin “Damn gets me wet.” I say and look at mama in embarrassment and she laughs. “Pretty sure that’s what the designers intended.” She tells me and laughs. “Now get to school. Nico’s waiting.” “Whoopee do.” I reply as I pull out of the driveway and head to school. I love living here. The forest is so peaceful and you can smell the saltiness of the ocean from the pack house. I have been born and raised in the Golden River pack. My grandmother was our first female Alpha after Grandfather passed and she passed it down to mama when she turned 18 years old. Tonight mama will pass it down to me. I love my pack and will always protect them. I turn into the driveway of Golden River High School and then park in my assigned spot right in front of the doors. I immediately see Nico who’s face is down looking at his phone. I take a moment to look at him and don’t get me wrong Nico’s hot. He’s tall and built. His father is our top guard and he’s training Nico to be his second until he steps down. Nico has short brown hair and brown eyes. Truth is Nico and I have been close our whole lives and when he asked me out a little over a year ago I said yes. No one else had approached me. I’m sure it had to do with my being future Alpha but still. Nico declared himself my boyfriend and I didn’t argue. We haven’t had s*x. I know a lot of our pack has hooked up with each other and I don’t look down on them, I mean we’re wolves and our s*x drive is high. Nico and I’ve kissed and done some heavy petting but that’s it. I want to wait till I find my mate. Nico is convinced we’re mates and doesn’t understand. I don’t think we are. I care about Nico but I’m not in love with him. “Damn baby you’re so sexy.” Nico says when he looks up as I set the car alarm. He looks at the car and his jaw drops. “Is that yours?” “No Nico I stole it.” I reply rolling my eyes. “Is that yours? Who else’s would it be.”I grab my bag and start walking to the doors. Nico walks beside me. “So Tea I’m bringing an overnight bag. Once you realize we’re mates I’m going to finally make love to you and mark you.” He says with a lustful look in his eyes. “Let’s see what happens.” I reply and his eyes go black in anger but before he can say a word his cell phone rings and he looks at it. “I gotta do something. I’ll meet you in class.” He says and rushes away. I’m not complaining I really didn’t want to get into it about this again. I step into the crowded hall way where students are laughing, making out or just hangin out in front of whoever’s locker. I chuckle as I see me locker with my best friend Skye and our other friend Derek. “There’s our birthday girl now.” Skye says spotting me first. She hugs me. “Happy birthday bestie.” “Thank you.” I say stepping back and immediately being hugged by Derek. “Happy birthday Tea.” He says. I step towards my locker and open it up. I start cleaning it out. It doesn’t take long. I’m definitely a very clean and organized person. After I finish Skye, Derek and I start walking to our first period. We had AP English with Professor Ness and I’m so thrilled I got an A since I loved the class. Almost every person we see wishes me a happy birthday and I smile. We walk into class and take our seats in the back of the room. Today is rather pointless. It’s pretty much just turning in books , cleaning out lockers and signing year books. Once we’re seated Derek walks over to talk to some guys he played football with and Skye turns to face me and she has her serious no bs look on. “So what’s wrong Tea?” She asks knowing I’m not happy about something. I guess when you know someone for 18 years you can tell. I can with her. “Come on Tea. It’s your bday and your ceremony is tonight. We’ve planned everything so why the face?” “What if I never find him Skye?” I ask and she gives me a confused look. “What if I never find my mate?” “Tea you will.” Skye agrees that Nico may not be my mate. To be honest Skye isn’t a fan of Nico’s. She puts up with his presence because of me. “Where is Mr I’m dating the future Alpha” she asks and I shrug my shoulders. “Said he had something to do and he’d see me in class.” I reply right as the 5 min warning bell goes off and ppl start pouring into class. Skye and I keep chatting and as the final bell rings I look up to see Nico slip in. He keeps his head down and doesn’t look at me as he slides into his assigned seat beside me. I exchange a look with Skye and whisper to Nico. “You ok?” I ask and he doesn’t answer. Right as I start to get annoyed cause I know he heard me he replies. “Fine” he says and I turn to face the front in irritation. He can take his fine and shove it. I lock eyes with Liz who is walking into class and smirks at me. Liz is a blonde hair blue eyed head cheerleader and has hooked up with most the guys in our class. She thinks she’s perfect and she hates that I’m future Alpha. Always has. Her father was Alpha for a neighboring pack before we were born he was caught attempting to blackmail The Lycan King and he was stripped of his Alpha title and refused to be just a member of the pack that was his so mother agreed he could join ours with his mate. “Well. Well. Well. Happy birthday Teagan.” I’m pulled from my thoughts as Liz smirks at me and I just smile. “Thanks Liz. Did you need something?” I reply knowing she didn’t come over to say that. Liz doesn’t do anything unless she is getting something out of it. “No just can’t wait for your after party tonight.” She says with a sparkle in her eyes which shows she has something up her sleeve. She’s going to pull some s**t. “Great.” I reply and am interrupted by professor asking everyone to take their seats so we can go over some announcements. Liz sashays to her seat at the front. I glance over at Nico to see him texting someone. I shrug it off because honestly I don’t care what he’s doing. “Attention everyone. Let’s get this…” Professor Ness is interrupted when the door opens and my jaw drops at the 6’3 built guy who steps inside with his long black wavy hair and cerulean blue eyes I can see from the back of the class room. Who is he? He hands the professor a slip of paper before walking down the aisle to the desk directly in front of mine. “As I was saying let’s get the announcements out of the way.” Professor Ness continues and I wish I could say I heard a single word he said but I kept getting distracted by the guy in front of me. He is definitely a wolf I can tell by his scent but it’s very faint like it’s being or has been suppressed for a long time. I have to wonder if he even knows he’s a shifter and if not why would someone try to do so. The only way to suppress one’s scent is by training yourself to do so or by using wolfsbane. If it was someone else who had been suppressing this guys wolf that means they’d been somehow giving him it either by mouth or by injection. I shiver ingesting wolfsbane is horribly painful and makes wolfs very sick. Who would purposefully put anyone through that? “Tea? Hello.” I’m pulled from my thoughts by Skyler and realize class is over. I stand up and gather my things. I head to the door and Skylar and Derek follow. “Where’d you go?” Skylar asks and I turn to answer only to see the new kid staring at me with a look I can’t quite place on his face. “I’ll tell you later. Come on.” I reply and head to my next class.
