Alpha Queen & Her Unexpected Mate

18th Birthday Part Two

** TEAGAN’S POV **

After 3 classes where we sat and did nothing but talk it’s finally lunchtime and I’m starving. I walk down the hall with Skylar and am still being wished Happy Birthday constantly.

“Ok what’s got you all serious Tea?” Skylar asks after we clear the last group of students. I look at her and shake my head letting her know not now and she nods. We walk into the cafeteria and go to our normal table. Suddenly I’m not hungry any longer. My whole body feels hot and I quickly turn and run for the parking lot. I hear people calling my name but I ignore them. I jump in my car and quickly drive away from the school. Not even 5 mins later I hear a voice in my head and know it’s my wolf.

“You need to pull down the dirt road now. Get out of the car.” She says and I know she’s right so I turn onto the dirt road and speed down it until I see another road and I take it. I slam on my brakes and throw myself out of the car. “Ok I can’t say this won’t hurt but I’m with you.” She says softly and I nod.”By the way I’m Tempest.”

“AHHHHHHHHH DAMN” I scream as I feel my bones break and move. “Tempest it hurts so much.” I cry out in my head.

“I know it does I’m sorry.” She tells me and I feel a bit better knowing I’m not alone. “Just hold on Teagan I’ve called in support. Your mom’s on her way.”

“How?” I ask as the pain intensifies.

“I linked her wolf.” She’s cut off as the shift completes and the pain goes away. “Are you ok?”

“Yes I feel amazing.” I reply. I can tell my thick fur is dark brown with red highlights just like my hair. My paws and chest are massive.

“Oh my sweet girl you are gorgeous.” My mom says from behind me and I turn to see her with tears on her cheeks. She walks over and runs her hand over my fur. “Oh Tea you remind me so much of your daddy.” She says and it makes me so happy. “Well shall we run?” She asks before stepping into the trees and then stepping out as her wolf.

“Yes please I need to run.” Tempest says over our link.

“Lead the way.” Dalia says over the link and Tempest doesn’t waste a moment. We take off running full speed as we dodge boulders and jump over fallen trees. The air rushing through my fur is exhilarating and when we finally stop at the lake on the far side of our territory we stop to drink. After sitting in the peace and quiet for awhile we head back to get my car and return home to start getting ready for the celebration. I’m getting out of the shower when I remember the new guy and all my questions.

“Mama why would someone’s scent be extremely faint but they’re sitting right in front of you?” I ask over our link.

“Tea there’s only two ways to mask your scent. Either the wolf is doing so on purpose or someone is dosing them with wolfsbane.” She replies. “But you already knew that didn’t you?” I chuckle.

“Yes mama. I just don’t understand why would anyone force a wolf to injest wolfsbane? The pain the wolf would be in.” I say and a chill goes up my spine.

“I truly don’t know. So this new guy, started today on the last day of school?” Mama asks

“Yes it was weird. He was in every class and when he sat in front of me I knew he was a wolf but as I said his scent was extremely faint and it smelled of wolfsbane. He wasn’t masking his scent.” I explain to her everything that I knew and then she was quiet as she absorbed what I had said. The hair and makeup people arrive and start working their magic while I wait. Finally mama speaks.

“Listen sweetheart let me do some research and make sure there’s no other explanation, and we’ll figure out our next step tomorrow.” She tells me. “Tonight let’s focus on my daughter becoming Alpha. Tonight’s about you.”

“Sounds good thank you mama.” I reply.

“I love you Tea and I’ll see you outside in an hour and a half.” She says before dropping our link. I spend the next hour and a half being primped and primed before I stand in front of my full length closet door mirror and my jaw drops.

“Wow I hardly recognize myself.” I say out loud. My floor length black satin gown hugs my body in all the right places. It’s off shoulder with sheer black sleeves . The back dips low and I’m wearing stiletto sandals. The ruby red crystal design runs down the back to the floor. My hair is pulled up in an intricate updo that still has curls cascading down to the middle of my back. I look so classy and adult like.

“Wow sis you look beautiful.” I turn to see Tyler standing in the doorway in his suit. “You ready? It’s time to head down.” I nod and accept his offered arm as we lock up my room and head downstairs and out the back patio door.

“Oh sweetheart you look stunning.” Mama says getting emotional.

“Just trying to keep up with my mama.” I reply and it’s true. Mama is wearing a dark green gown that has a fitted top and a-line skirt. Her beautiful dark brown hair is in a French twist. She’s the perfect example of what an Alpha female should be and I can only hope to be half as amazing as she is.

“It’s time Alpha.” Meredith one of the omegas says and we turn and start walking toward the altar. The chairs are set in a circle around the altar. There are burgundy roses and tiger lilies everywhere and the omegas did an amazing job decorating with my burgundy and black colors. Our pack symbol is everywhere and I’m so happy. The entire pack is here and silent as mama and I step up to face my Noni who is performing the ceremony as my mom will when I pass the pack down to my daughter.

The ceremony is not long and it feels like moments later and my Noni says:

“Golden River Pack please stand for our new Alpha. Presenting Alpha Teagan.” She declares and I get emotional when everyone cheers and it’s clear my pack believes in me.

“Congratulations Alpha Teagan.” I hear echoed throughout the crowd and raise my hand causing my pack to go silent and Sit down.

“Thank you all. I promise to do whatever it takes to keep our pack safe and thriving. Now will Skylar please step forward.” I say and Skylar steps up in her form fitting red gown in shock. No she has no clue what I’m doing. “I’ve chosen Skylar as my beta. If she accepts.”

“OMG Teagan really?” she asks with a giant grin and I nod. “Of course I accept.” She squeals and hugs me. There’s no one else I’d want as my beta. I glance out at the crowd as I hug Skylar and lock eyes with none other than Liz who is glaring at me with jealousy. What is that about? I arch a brow and she quickly looks away. I’m going to have to keep an eye on her she’s up to something. I pull back and address my pack.

“Alright let’s eat and party.” I say and everyone cheers before Mama, Noni, Skylar and I all head into the pack house and out to the front to pose for photos.

“Congratulations Alpha.” Henry the photographer says before letting us know he’ll have the proofs in a few days. I thank him and we stand outside for a minute before heading inside and to the pack dining room that’s decorated beautifully. As we walk in and head to the table in front the room goes quiet. I wait till Noni, Mama and Skylar are seated.

“Please everyone let’s celebrate.” I declare and the servers begin serving the plates of either ribeye steaks, baked potato or salmon with asparagus. I’m starving since I haven’t eaten since this morning so when my steak is placed in front of me I thank the server and dig in. It’s delicious and I’ve already decided to give the omegas a fat bonus for the incredible work they’ve done. After I finish I look around and it occurs to me I haven’t seen Nico all night and it doesn’t bother me.

“Excuse me Alpha.” A wolf I know is a pack member but I don’t know much about him approaches but waits 50 ft away for my permission which I give him by nodding. Mama must sense I’ve never encountered him before because she smiles.

“Teagan this is Xavier Russo. He lives at the far south border of our territory and is one of the top guards we have.” She introduces him and something about. him puts me at ease and I offer my hand which he accepts.

“Pleasure to meet you. What I can I do for you?” I ask and he looks around making sure no one’s listening before looking at me and I sense the nervousness and fear on him.

“I need to speak with you regarding a personal issue.” He says and I can tell it’s important but I can’t just leave the celebration

“Can you come to my office tomorrow say 1130-12?” I ask and he breathes a sigh of relief and smiles.

“Of course thank you so much alpha.” He says before quickly running off. I look at my mom who just shrugs. I decide to let it drop until morning.

It’s hours later and going on 1am when most of the adults had already retired to their homes and just us younger people were partying and dancing. I’d already changed out of my dress and into a tight black skirt and dark green top. I’d kicked my stilettos off an hour or so prior and was dancing with Sam who was training to be a guard. Sam was at least 6’3” with a muscular body and jet black hair. His eyes were just as dark. He was ok. I’d known him for years and never felt more than friendship. My mate wasn’t here. I knew that for certain. That’s when I realize for the second time tonight that I hadn’t seen or spoken to Nico at all, not since this morning. Truth is I haven’t even noticed.

“Damn Tea you are so sexy. How come I never got a shot with you?” Sam asks with a grin.

“Please Sam you friend zoned me in middle school.” I reply as we both laugh. “I wouldn’t have it any other way.”

“Neither would I Tea.” He agrees and hugs me tightly.

“WHAT ARE YOU DOING WITH MY GIRLFRIEND?” We hear and turn to find Nico standing 10 feet away glaring at Sam.

“She’s my friend. It was a hug. Are you crazy?” Sam asks a furious Nico and I realize Sam’s livid. I step in between them and glare at Nico.

“How dare you? How dare you disappear all day and then show up and make a scene at my party?” I growl in frustration.

“When I do get here I find you making out with another guy?” Nico replies and I want to punch him so badly.

“Are you mental? It was a hug Nico.” I say and his next words damn near have me leaping at him but thankfully Sam realizes it and wraps his arms around my waist pulling me back against him and stopping me.

“Well I guess the truth is coming out. That perfect precious Tea is a dirty little skank.” Nico says before starting to walk away but he’s stopped when Liz steps up flush against him and crashes her mouth to his. Nico wraps his arms around and grabs her ass pulling her in and I can’t help myself I start cracking up. My hysterically laughing makes the people who had gathered around step back and even Sam releases me and steps back.

“Tea uh hun you ok?” Skylar steps towards me and I look at her. “s**t. s**t. Everyone parties over. Time to go.” She says ushering everyone that the front. When she returns she has Derek and my brother with her. I’m still laughing holding my stomach. Even Liz has stepped away from Nico and they’re both frozen watching my every move.

“s**t. This is bad.” Tyler says before stepping closer to me slowly until he’s standing in front of me blocking my view of Nico and Liz. “Sis look at me. You ok?” He asks and now that I don’t see those two desperate, pathetic asses I slowly calm down. Tyler just looks into my eyes until he sees something and his whole body relaxes. “Sis you better?”

“Ty I’m fine.” I reply and try to head into the pack house but he stops me.

“Hold up. If you’re fine how come you were hysterically laughing and you were just about to shift.” He tells me.

“How do you know?” I ask confused.

“Tea you’re eyes were black.” He says and I look over at Skylar who nods. s**t he’s right. When you’re eyes go black it’s the first sign that you’re wolf is taking control. I look at him and nod. I look around realizing that it’s just the four of us and that’s a good thing. I’m alpha. I can’t attack a pack member for being a w***e.

“Thank you all. I’m tired I’m going to shower and bed.” I say as I walk towards the pack house. “Skylar. Derek I’ll call you both tomorrow.”

“Sounds good. Get some rest Tea.” Derek says

“Yeah. Love you Tea.” Skylar replies

“Love you sis.” Tyler hollers and I smile at him.

“Love you too.” I reply. I go straight to the top floor where the Alphas family and VIPs stay and go into my room locking it behind me and showering quickly before getting my pj’s on and crawling into my bed. I fall asleep immediately.
