Alpha Queen & Her Unexpected Mate

First Day as Alpha…

** TEAGAN’S POV **

I am woken up by the bright sunlight shining into my window and I open my eyes before stretching and grabbing my phone off the nightstand. I wake up the screen and see it’s 9am and I need to get up. I have so much to do today including my meeting with Xavier Russo. I make my bed and step into my closet pulling out my clothes before stepping into my bathroom to get ready. Right as I pull my black stiletto knee high boots on I feel a link opening.

“Good morning sweetheart.” Mama says and I smile as I grab my things and lock up my room.

“Morning mama. How’d you sleep last night?” I reply.

“Like a baby. You?” She asks and I tell her the same. I end the link when I step into the dining room and sit down in the Alpha chair. Breakfast and lunch have always been low key in our pack because everyone has work and school breakfast is served between 7am - 1030 am. Lunch is 12pm - 130pm and pack members come and go. Dinner on the other hand is served at 7pm and even though it’s not mandatory it’s a time for the pack to connect and go over pack news. To my surprise the dining room is packed with members and that’s when I realize that word has spread regarding the situation from the party and everyone’s curious about my reaction. Time to shut this down. I stand up and the dining room goes silent.

“Good morning Golden River Pack.” I say and smile at my pack.

“Good morning Alpha Teagan.” They say together and I love being called Alpha.

“Now as I’m sure the majority of you are aware of the situation that occurred early this morning. First of all let me apologize. I should not of allowed a personal matter end our celebration and I can promise to keep any private business dealt with in a private setting. I’m so sorry if I scared anyone.” I tell them and am very thankful there’s nothing but acceptance and understanding in everyone’s eyes. “Lastly I want everyone to know that just as my mother did, I want you all to know my door is always open. If you see me out and about or here and you need to go over something with me, or speak with me please let me know. Today I will be getting settled and getting my office set up. My office is the one next to my mothers and if I’m not available she still will be.” I end my speech and everyone claps. After asking if there’s any questions I sit to eat. My mama, Tyler, Skylar and her mother are all at my table. As beta Skylar sits on my left side while mama is on my right. I love our pack house. It’s 5 levels and a log home with rock siding on the bottom. As you approach the front entrance you see that the floor to ceiling windows open it up to the world. Every floor has windows in every room so the natural light warms and brightens the interior. As wolfs we all find strength and happiness by the sun and nature. The ground floor has the entertainment room which is a multi seat theater, kitchen, dining room, conference room, and the omegas quarters. The laundry room and storage area is in the basement which also has our emergency exits in case we’re attacked or just need to escape there’s two tunnels that lead away from here and to the woods. The first floor is all guest quarters. While the alpha and beta offices are on the third floor. The fourth floor is my beta and gamma’s residences with Alpha’s on the top floor. I love the pack house and am so happy I was born and raised here.

My favorite part is that when you step out back you have our outside entertainment area and celebration site, our pool that includes a hidden grotto and waterfall. A lot of the she wolfs will spend all summer laying out in the sun while the pups play in the pool. When you step into the woods behind the pool you can smell the salty ocean and the woods. Everything goes quiet, and the peaceful feeling of nature surrounds you. This is my favorite place. I love running through the trees and seeing all the wildlife going about their lives. Finally breaking through the tree line and finding our private shoreline.

“How you really feeling Tea?” Skylar asks over the link.

“Honestly I’m not surprised. They can have one another.” I reply and she nods.

“Nico is a prick and you deserve better.” She says and I smile before hugging her as we all stand up and leave the dining room. I head upstairs to see my new office. I picked out the furniture and colors but haven’t seen the final result and I’m super excited. Mama joins me. As we step into the office I smile as I see the dark blue and burgundy office with the light oak furniture, my sofa and two chairs in the sitting area and filing cabinets. I also have a closet with clothes in case I have to change quickly or need new outfit after shifting. The en suite bathroom includes a large walk in shower and vanity. It’s perfect.

** KNOCK KNOCK **

“It’s open.” I call out as mama and I turn towards the door. It’s opened and a young she wolf steps inside. She’s about my age, maybe a few years older and has straight long golden blonde hair that is down and dark blue eyes. She gives me a small smile.

“Good morning Alpha’s. I’m not too early am I?” She asks and I know I’m confused but suddenly my mom nods and gives her a warm smile.

“You must be Rachel. Im sorry it’s been a busy few days.” Mama explains before turning to me.

“Sweetheart Rachel is Donna’s daughter and your current personal assistant.” Mama says and I give her a warm smile also. I hold out my hand.

“It’s fantastic to meet you Rachel.” I say as she places her hand in mine to shake it and visibly relaxes. I quickly scan through her thoughts and memories and she has no idea only my mama and Skylar know about my gift. Yes I can scan through your memories and thoughts by shaking your hand. It showed up when I was 12 or 13 and the first time scared the s**t out of me as it was my teacher and he was thinking horrible thoughts about me in his bed. I immediately linked my mom who made it to the school in 5 mins and the teacher was arrested by our guard within ten mins. Turns out he had a detailed plan written out in his apartment about kidnapping one of his female students, he just hadn’t decided which one. The vile man had a list and yes my name and Skylar’s were on it. He was executed.

“Here let me show you your office.” I tell her and lead her to the office next door which has a door to mine. “I’ll let you get settled. If you need anything let my mother or I know. I have a meeting coming up with Xavier Russo will you let me know when he arrives?”

“Yes Alpha.” She replies and I smile.

“Please call me Tea or Teagan were going to be working together a lot.” I say and she nods smiling. I leave her to settle in and head back into my office to finish getting it set up. I sit back in my chair an hour later and smile as I look around my office. It’s definitely me. I’ve known since I was young that on my 18th birthday I’d become Alpha and thanks to my mom and Noni I’ve been training both in the office and out on the training grounds since I turned 13 years old. I know I can do this.

I find myself staring out the window which overlooks the backyard and my beloved woods. My mind drifting back to the guy from yesterday. He ended up in most of my classes and I just couldn’t understand who would be so cruel to continuously dose him with wolfsbane to suppress his wolf. Even though I personally have only experienced it on my hand as part of training I recall how badly it burned. I caught him staring at me multiple times with that same look he had as I left my first class but we never spoke.

*KNOCK KNOCK *

I’m pulled from my thoughts when Rachel pops her head in.

“Mr Xavier Russo is here to see you.” She informs me.

“Please show him in and hold all calls and visitors.” I reply and she nods before stepping back out and a few minutes later I stand as Xavier walks in.

“Thank you Alpha for agreeing to meet with me so quickly.” He says shaking my hand. I immediately scan his thoughts and intentions and smile as I see he’s a good man who’s just upset at whatever situation he’s dealing with.

“Of course and please call me Teagan. Have a seat.” I reply before I move to my chair and sit down. I smile. “So Xavier what can I help you with today?” I ask and then wait while he collects his thoughts.

“I recently found out that my sons mother passed away and he has come to live with me.” He says and I nod. “His mother left me 16 + years ago because she found her mate.”

“Ah so you never mated or marked each other?” I ask understanding.

“No. We were just casual. Apparently she discovered she was pregnant before they mated and marked one another.” He explains. “The mate refused to accept him so she put him in a boarding school.”

He pauses to collect himself.

“They put him in a human boarding school at 5 years old. Prior to that he lived at a facility from birth where the staff began injecting him…” Xavier has to stop to calm down and I immediately know what he’s going to say.

“With wolfsbane to subdue and hide his wolf.” I finish his sentence and my anger is out of control. How could anyone allow their baby to be put through so much pain and agony.

“How did you know?” Xavier asks me concerned and I smell fear coming off him.

“Don’t worry Xavier we are your pack and we will help you in anyway we can. Let me bring in my mother.” I say to make him relax. He nods and I quickly mind link my mom to come to my office.

“How did you know what I was going to say?” Xavier asks me clearly confused.

“Your son was in my classes yesterday and I could just faintly sense his wolf and immediately knew his scent was being masked.” I reply “I know there’s only two ways to do so.”

“You can smell his scent?” He asks me clearly surprised and I nod.

“Faintly but yes. You can’t?” I reply and he shakes his head No and right then my mom walks into the office shutting the door.

“Xavier it’s nice to see you again.” She says to him.

“Alpha you also.” Xavier replies standing and bowing to my mom before stepping aside to let her take the other chair.

“Xavier Ive informed mom of what we’ve discussed. What exactly can we do?” I inquire

“The thing is Mason (my son) doesn’t know he’s a wolf. He isn’t aware shifters exist. I need to ask that you accept him into the pack and then I’ll figure out how to tell him the truth.” He says sadly.

“Of course we will. It will be impossible to do without touching him.” I say since when the Alpha accepts a new pack member they place their hand on the members shoulder to form the pack bond.

“I understand. Now that I have your word I will head home and tell Mason the truth. In the morning I’ll bring him here to become a member if that alright.” He asks and mom and I exchange a look

“Yes that’s fine but Xavier I have to ask, why are you in such a hurry to have him bonded to our pack? We will protect him regardless of when he becomes a member.” I inquire and look at him.
