** TEAGAN’S POV **

“The thing is, Mason has no idea who and what we are but apparently his ex girlfriend that he went to boarding school with does and yesterday she called his phone and texted which he left at the house.” Xavier explains and I feel myself getting more and more angry. I want to rip the b***h apart. I suddenly stop and realize how angry I feel.

“Why do I feel so angry over this ex girlfriend.” I think to myself

“It’s not the time, but soon you’ll understand.” Tempest replies and then steps back. Mom hands me the phone and I start reading the texts.

**TEXT MESSAGES *

Amanda: Hi baby. I miss you so much. I know it’s only been a few weeks but I miss your touch.

I growl as I finish the first text but don’t look up and start the second.

Amanda: Baby are you alright? I haven’t heard back from you. Please tell me you’ve been taking your meds. You have to.

I open the next one and the b***h’s tone and concern gets worse with each message.

Amanda: Baby please take your meds or you’ll die. You know you have to take them.

The following texts get more and more intense until we listen to the last one.

Amanda: that’s it Mason I’m about to board a flight. I’m on my way to you. I’ll call when I land.” She says before ending the call and I look at the day and time stamp.

“She’s been on a plane here for 2-1/2 hours and would be landing in an hour and a half.” I say out loud before looking Xavier.

“I hate to rush you but you have an hour and a half to tell your son the truth and bring him here to become a member before she arrives and it appears she is worried about him not taking his meds and finding his wolf.” I say and he nods.

“You’re right. I will do this now and then bring him here. “ he says before running out of my office. My mom and I exchange a look before she heads to leave my office. I suddenly remember something Xavier said

“Wait mama. I need to ask you something.” I call out and she stops and closes the door before walking over to me.

“You can ask me anything.” She says with a smile. I’m so lucky I have such an incredible mom. I look her in the eyes

“Xavier asked me how I knew what he was going to say and I explained that Mason had been in all my classes and my first class I could smell his scent. Barely but I did which is why I came to you.” I say and my mom chuckles. “Xavier seemed shocked that I could sense him when he can’t.”

“I’m sure he was.” Mom says and then smiles.

“Why?” I ask her and she shakes her head.

“You will figure it out on your own soon.” She replies before walking out of my office and closing the door. What is going on? I truly detest being kept in the dark. I spend a few more hours working on pack business before saying good night to Rachel and heading upstairs to my room. I change into my black leggings with sunflowers and the matching top, my running shoes. I pull my hair up into a high ponytail, grab my AirPods and phone before locking up my room and heading out back. I start my playlist and start my run. I love running and as I make it to the woods all I hear are my footsteps and my woods. This is my happy place. I reach the beach 45 mins later and after drinking some water from my bottle I plop down on the sand and stare out over the seemingly endless blue water. I turn my playlist off so I can listen to the waves lapping the shoreline, behind me I can hear the chattering of squirrels and other animals as well as the birds.

My mind drifts back to Mason and the unimaginable pain he must of endured. His mother knew what was being done to her child and just forgot her child and let him go for her mate. How could she? Not to mention, what kind of man refuses to accept an unborn baby. I couldn’t understand those types of ppl human, shifter, or any other entity. I decide to stop thinking about it because it just made me furious even though I didn’t understand why I was having such an intense reaction.

“Had a feeling I find you here.” I growl in warning as Nico plops down next to me. He holds his hands up in front of him. “Easy baby…”

“Don’t call me baby. I’m not your baby Nico.” I growl and he looks out at the ocean.

“Sorry. I know I messed up Teagan. I know I’m the dumbest wolf in the universe.” He tells me still staring out into the distance. “Do you remember the night we went to senior prom and then went to Lyka’s party at the hotel?” He asks and I feel nauseous knowing where this conversation is going and needing to hear everything.

“Yes of course I do.” I reply.

“We had such a great time until i sprung the room I had gotten for us a few weeks before on you.” He continues and it brings those memories back up front so I can picture the entire night. “I’d wanted you so badly for so long and then you were on the bed and we were making out. When I tried to run my hand under your gown you pushed me away and jumped off the bed.”

“Yeah Nico I was there I remember. You were furious and began yelling at me about why I wouldn’t let you f**k me.” I growl “That you knew we were mates and how you had waited so long and put up with me being a tease. Then you informed me you didn’t know why you bothered when any other girl at our school would of been honored to have you buried inside them.”

“I am a total jerk.” He says still looking out at the ocean. “Then you ran. I got off the bed and you ran out of the room and hotel. I tried to chase you and called your name but you wouldn’t stop.” He sounds lost in the memory of that night. “I finally stopped and I was furious and upset when I returned to the party. I started tossing back shots and drinks. An hour later I was drunk and that’s when Liz walked over to where I was sitting on a chair and straddled my lap.”

“So you hooked up with her” I say as a statement not a question. I knew something had happened that night because he changed. He started being distant and secretive. What’s strange is I’m not even upset. After we’d been together for over a year you’d think finding out he’d cheated would make me upset but I wasn’t.

“Yeah. I don’t recall most of it but I do remember waking up the following day in the hotel I’d gotten us in bed with her and we were both naked.” He says sadly. “I tried to tell her it was a mistake and wouldn’t happen again but she said I’d come to her anytime she rang me or she’d tell you and apparently she’d recorded us hooking up.” Nico finally looks at me. “At first I didn’t want to lose you but then I started enjoying it. Yesterday morning she texted me to meet her in the gym and when I did she informed me she was pregnant. She showed me proof.”

“Which is why you were such an asshole in class and why I didn’t speak to you all day.” I say and he nods. “I shifted all by myself Nico. Thank the moon goddess Tempest got ahold of my mom.”

“I’m sorry Teagan. Thing is I love you. I’m in love with you and only want you. I want to mark you and mate.” He says as his eyes show his intentions I jump up and start backing towards the forest.

“We’re not mates Nico. I’m not in love with you.” I say as he jumps up and starts taking steps towards me. His eyes go dark and he smiles an evil crazed smile.

“Don’t run from me baby. I know you love me and want me. I’m not fighting it any longer. I’m going to make you mine right now.” He growls and I feel the forest floor under my shoe. I turn and run into the woods as fast as I can and Nico let’s out a roar in anger and I hear him chasing me. “STOP RUNNING BABY.” I hear him catching up to me and know I can’t out run him Nico’s quarterback and runs track. I can’t let him mark me. I can’t let him take me.

“Let me out hun.” I hear Tempest say in my head and I know it’s my only option.

“Don’t let him do this.” Is all I say and let her take control as I shift without missing a step. We run and it’s crazy as we dodge or jump any obstacles in our way. We’re still pretty far from the pack house when all the sudden something crashes into me from behind knocking me onto the ground and I shift back to catch my breath. I struggle to get free but he’s holding me down with his body on top of me.

“Damn baby your wolf is just as sexy as you are. Now I’m finally going to f**k you we can do this the easy way or the hard way it’s up to you.” Nico says and he pins me down as he sits back on his heels and roughly flips me onto my back. He licks his lips as he looks me up and down. He reaches out to grab my left tit and starts pinching my n****e. “Finally. I’ve waited so long to touch your naked body, to kiss and suck on your perfect tits.”

“Stop Nico. Don’t do this. Get off me.” I beg and he growls.

“No you’re mine. You belong to me.” He growls before his hand slides down my abdomen and he slips it in between my legs. He rubs my c**t.

“GET AWAY FROM ME NOW.” I roar using my Alpha voice and he immediately jumps back and offers his neck. I’m livid. I stand up and glare at him. “You pathetic piece of s**t how dare you try to force yourself on your Alpha.”

“I’m sorry Alpha… I just need you so badly.” Nico whines. I glare at him.

“You will leave The Golden River Pack and never return.” I order and he agrees. I turn and start heading home when I hear:

“WATCH OUT !”

I turn to see Nico lunging for me and suddenly the 6’3” gorgeous, sexy guy with shaggy black hair and those incredible eyes tackle Nico from the side knocking them both to the ground. They both jump up.

“Mind your business guy, before you get hurt.” Nico says and tries to grab my arm. “My lady and I were just about to hook up.”

“DONT TOUCH ME” I yell and wrench my arm away. Nico whines.

“Fine but this isn’t over baby.” Nico says before running back into the woods and I drop my head and start taking deep breaths.

“Hey are you alright?” Mason asks which makes me jerk my head up and look into his cerulean eyes. Then I realize I’m standing there naked and I try to cover myself with my hands.

“I’m fine thanks to you. Oh goodness I need to go home excuse me.” I say before running to the the pack house completely mortified. He smelled so good though.
