Alpha Queen & Her Unexpected Mate

My First Alpha Meeting

** TEAGAN’S POV **

It’s been a few weeks since I took over as Alpha for The Golden River Pack and I’ve been extremely busy. As Alpha I not only take care of the logistics of running a thriving pack but I refuse to just sit at my desk. I take shifts patrolling the borders and attend trainings just as I require all pack members above the age of 15 years old. Granted the younger members train at a less intense pace but I want everyone to be able to protect and defend themselves if it’s ever needed.

After Nico attempted to mate and mark me forcefully that night he was banished from our pack and forbidden from stepping foot on our territory. My mother and his father actually decided his punishment and to be honest it made me a little sad. Nico and I had known each other and were friends for so long and it was hard to realize the Nico I knew was gone replaced by an evil selfish wolf. Liz was still here although seeing as how she had gotten pregnant with someone who was now a rogue her family kept her inside and I hadn’t seen her.

I hadn’t seen or heard a word from Mason since the morning I warned him but I of course saw and spoke with Xavier who let me know that by the time he had returned home that day Amanda was gone and Mason was in his room angry. Since then he hardly leaves his room other than to take long walks for hours in the woods. Xavier is desperately trying to connect and start a relationship with his son and honestly that’s all I’ve let myself inquire about. I’ve stayed away from Mason because I’m still upset Of my actions that day. I’m Alpha and my pack is my first priority.

“Teagan sweetheart oh you look every inch The Alpha Queen.” Mama says pulling me from my thoughts and I smile at her in my wardobe mirror. I’m doing one last check to make sure the black suit skirt set is perfect and my burgundy satin tank matches. I’m wearing my black stiletto sandals. My hair pinned up in a twist with the curls cascading back down and my makeup light. I’m happy it looks perfect and then turn smiling at my elegant and powerful mother in her royal blue suit and her dark brown hair in an elegant twist. “You ready to go?”

“Yes let’s get going.” I reply grabbing my things before locking up and heading downstairs and out the front door. We climb into the back seat of one of the black Yukons the pack owns and I’m surprised to see Xavier in the passenger seat. “Good morning Simon. Good morning Xavier.” I greet one of the omega drivers and Xavier.

“Good morning Alphas.” Simon replies

“Good morning Alphas.” Xavier replies as he looks first myself then mama in the eyes and I happen to notice how he lingers on mama for just a few moments. Interesting. Xavier looks worn out and a bit frustrated. “The rest of our team is following behind but will be close. Alpha Teagan during the meeting I’ve assigned one of our best to be your guard.”

“Is this really necessary? I mean it’s just the annual meeting of Alphas. I really don’t want to take guards off the pack in case something happens.” I say and my mama beams in pride as Xavier smiles warmly.

“The pack is very well protected. We only are taking 4 guards with us two for both yourself and two for your mother.” Xavier tells me. “It’s vital you both are protected just as each Alpha attending will be.” I smile as we pull into the local convention and meeting center. Since we were hosting it wasn’t too far but not on our territory. Having all these Alphas on one packs territory may have been overwhelming for us all which is why it is always held on mutual ground. Simon quickly parks and gets out opening my moms door and offering his hand to assist her out of the Yukon while Xavier does the same for me. Once I’m out of the car I realize how many Alphas there are and I am glad it’s on neutral ground.

“Don’t let it bother you Teagan you’re more powerful than half of them combined.” Xavier says quietly and it makes me smile. I turn to look at him.

“Thank you Xavier I needed that.” I replied and he gives me a warm smile. We walk around to the other side of the Yukon and join mama before the three of us and my guard Michael (who I’ve known most of my life since he’s only a year or two older) walk towards the front doors and into the meeting room. I’m beyond pleased with the job the omegas have done on decorating. It’s simple and perfect. The tables are set up in a U shape and have black table cloths and simple flower arrangements. There’s a long table set on each side with refreshments and snacks and lunch is to be served.

“Alpha Teagan it’s so good to see you.” I smile as I hear Fiona walk up next to me and give her a hug.

“Alpha Fiona you’re glowing cousin you look amazing.” I reply knowing her mate is steps away. Fiona met her mate Damon right after we went to visit Tiana so we haven’t met him yet. After she hugs my mom she reaches over and takes a man’s hand guiding him to stand beside her. He is tall and muscular reminding me of Mason. But Damon has light brown hair that’s cut short and brown eyes.

“Damon this is my cousin Alpha Teagan.” Fiona introduces me and I shake his hand.

“Actually just Teagan is fine. We’re family.” I say and he chuckles

“It’s a pleasure to meet you Teagan your cousin had told me a lot about you.” Damon says with a warm smile.

“She’s told me a lot about you as well. I’m glad you found one another.” I reply and then smirk at Fiona. “I’m sure we’ll get to know each other better this evening.” Fiona, Damon, Tiana and her mate Greg are staying the night at the pack house before they head home tomorrow. Fiona introduces mama and Damon while I greet Tiana and Greg. We spend the next hour greeting different Alphas as they enter. I’m standing by the door when it’s opened and a tall lanky man steps inside. He is older probably 10 years older than I am. His shoulder length. Black hair is straight and appears greasy. His eyes are dark brown and he has a scar that runs from his eyebrow to his chin. When he locks eyes with me even Michael tenses up as do mama and Xavier. He walks over and offers his hand. I place mine in his and immediately feel cold. I pull away politely.

“Alpha Teagan I’m Alpha Tim of the Black Mountain pack. It’s wonderful to meet you.” He says as I feel him run his eyes up and down my body before looking back into mine filled with hunger. I am disgusted and feel physically I’ll. I need to shower after that.

“You also Alpha Tim. Please make yourself comfortable. There’s snacks and refreshments and we’re just about to get started.” I say with an even voice and he arched a brow but greets my mom before heading to the tables. I pull myself together and turn to Danielle one of the omegas.

“I think we’re all here please lock us up.” I say and she nods before quickly locking the doors. It’s imperative we make sure no outsider overhears our Alpha meeting for the protection of all of our packs. Mama and I walk around taking our places at the head of the tables and Xavier is kind enough to bring us each a cup of coffee and a bagel. I grin at him when he brings them exactly as we like them. Mine is toasted with cream cheese and mama has toasted with butter and grape jam.

“It’s time Tea.” Tiana whispers in my ear and I put my game face on and stand up. The room goes silent as everyone is looking at me.

“Welcome ladies and gentlemen to our Annual Alpha meeting. As you’re all aware it’s been a busy and interesting year for all of us and we have a lot to discuss. Let’s get started.” I say and the meeting begins with Tiana going over the business from the past year. After she’s finished each Alpha is offered time to air any grievances he or she may have which is what takes most of the rest of the day. It’s fairly relaxed as neighboring Alphas settle any property or other disputes and come to an agreement. For the majority of the time the Alphas figure the solution out themselves. Doing so here in this atmosphere may seem fairly straightforward and easy but that’s because it is. Trying to argue over land or anything else when you’re home and surrounded by pack members almost always gets out of control. We’re Alpha and wolves. We are fiercely proud and protective of our packs and yes most wolf shifters are known for our quick tempers.

It’s not until almost 4pm that when Alpha Tim stands and looks at me with that same hunger I immediately am on edge. He starts to speak while not looking away and it pisses me off as he has hunger and something else in his eyes I can’t figure out.

“Thank you for hosting Alphas of Golden River pack. As we’re all aware the laws which govern our kind have existed for centuries.” He finally looks away and I wonder what he’s up to. “They’re the main reason why our kind have managed to exist for so long.”

“We’re all aware of our laws Alpha Tim what’s the point of this?” Alpha Monroe of the Eclipse Valley Pack asks. Alpha Tim looks at him for a moment before clearing his throat and continuing.

“We’ve changed the laws as needed to keep up with times but one law that has been ignored and not followed to the letter would be # 5 which states that any Alpha who has not mated and marked their mate by the time they turn 21 years old will be mated to another inmates/unmarked wolf that claims the right.” He says and everyone knows he’s correct. My blood goes cold and I look up to see him again staring at me.

“Alpha Tim that law has never been enforced and was only placed as a law back when they were written so that Alphas weren’t forced to give up their packs.” My mother explains and the room agrees.

“I suggest we reform the law to 20 years old and enforce it.” Alpha Tim says. “As each of our packs know that the alpha position is handed down to the eldest child of said Alpha on their 18th birthday. If said Alpha never finds his or her mate and have children they could just be Alpha for centuries. What if they are killed?”

“The beta would become Alpha which is also stated in our laws Alpha Tim.” I answer and everyone nods. “I say we should table this discussion until next years Alpha meeting and vote then. We can all gain more knowledge and vote informed rather than changing a law that affects us all on a whim.” Im I say as I look at Alpha Tim with my head high.

“I second Alpha Teagan’s motion.” Alpha Monroe says.

“All in favor of revisiting said law change next time we meet say Aye.” Tiana calls out and the entire room says aye. “All opposed?” Tiana calls out.

“Nay” Alpha Tim says only.

“The ayes have it.” She calls out.

“Alright it’s been productive and we’ll see you all again next year at the Black Mountain hosted meeting. Safe travels.” I call out ending the meeting. We spend the next 45 mins saying goodbye to all the Alphas and then I notice that Alpha Tim must of snuck out because we didn’t see him. Not that I’m complaining. The omegas had cleaned up as we were saying good bye so we lock up and get into the Yukon heading home.

“I’m so proud of you sweetheart you did fantastic. Not many Alphas are expected to hold the Alpha meeting their first year as Alpha.” Mom says and I smile at her.

“I had you to help me so it wasn’t all me.” I reply and reach down to undo my stilettos. “My feet are killing me.”

“Mine also.” Mom says and we discuss the meeting as we head home with Xavier contributing amazing advice. Right as Simon pulls up next to the front of the house both mine and Xavier’s cell phones go off and we quickly answer.

“This is Teagan.” I say and jump out of the SUV as I hear Skylars panicked voice.

“Oh thank the moon goddess Tea you have to come to the southern border right now. It’s on fire.” she says and then answers others questions.

“Alright where are you?” I ask running barefoot towards the trees. Damn I liked this outfit.

“By Xavier Russo place it’s on fire.” She answers and my blood goes cold again. “Mason is in their. Xavier said he doesn’t leave his room.” I say and hear Skylar order some people that we have someone trapped before I drop my phone and shift. I don’t bother to strip and just shift. Tempest is running faster than ever and she’s so upset. I don’t understand but can’t ask her what’s going on because she’s shut me out and pushed me back. She is focused on getting to the house and isn’t hearing me.

I can only make out 1 thing that’s consumed her and that’s the name she keeps repeating :
