Poem: Life After Death
…
From shadows deep, a tale unfolds, A journey fraught with stories untold. From the brink of death, a phoenix rise, Golden red fur, under moonlit skies.
Lycon, reborn in hues so rare, A creature of grace, beyond compare. Whispers of life, in every stride, A dance with destiny, side by side.
.
From darkness to the golden glow, A metamorphosis, a vibrant show. In fur of red, a beacon bright, Guiding through the silent night.
Embracing life, a second chance, The moonlight's tender, enchanting dance. Lycon, in your golden grace, Find solace in this newfound space.

It was the 14th of November, marking the celebration of my sweet 16 birthday.
There's a yearly tradition in our home on anybody's birthday, when my mom crafts the most incredible breakfast for us - when it's her birthday, everyone helps out to give her breakfast in bed.
I refused to let the awareness of my imminent death ruin my morning; I set out to create an unforgettable experience with my family.
I looked at the time, and knew I had ten minutes before 8am to collect all my things and place them by the front door.
While carrying the four items to the front door, I tried to sniff the air for any lingering scent of food being made.
The only conclusion that crossed my mind was that perhaps they were preparing a spontaneous breakfast surprise for me in the kitchen.
Within the foyer, my eyes wandered over the bags of everyone, until I heard Anthony shouting outside at the top of his voice.
My ears heard my secret code being bellowed out of his big mouth, as the i***t began to bang on the front door like a lunatic.
I hurriedly closed the gap to the door, as panic gripped me, emphasising the need to keep our special code confidential.
Awe overcame me the moment I swung the door open, my eyes shifted from Anthony's smirking face to the majestic grey-silver wolf standing proudly behind him.
If I didn't learn about werewolves and packs from the Moon Goddess, right now, I would have pissed myself.
All thanks to Selene, I have already come to terms with my fate and the new life that comes with it.
Caught by surprise, my mother's voice spoke inside my head, insisting that I join Anthony and Lexi, promising that all would be explained at Silverstone Waterfall.
In the ten seconds she spoke, I quickly scanned my surroundings, hoping to see where my mother could be standing, only to find no one.
My heart skipped a beat when the massive wolf began to growl and snarl, its focus was directed towards a different target.
“Ruth, you know me. So please move your pink tickle duck ass onto the wolf, before the bad guys sell our souls to make a quick buck.”
I knew if he said those words in that order, then it was very serious.
“Chillax, Anthony. Get on the wolf, I need to grab my small bag.” I said, motioning towards the wide array of bags and suitcases.
As I retrieved the main bag that I needed, a ten minute heads-up sight popped inside my head.
I witnessed a group of massive wolves making their way to my house. I could swear, from the brief sight, those filthy wolves emitted a stench as if they hadn't bathed in months.
Whoa, that was a combination of cool and freaky hitting me, prompting me to rush outside, gasping for a breath of fresh air.
Between breaths, I managed to tell Anthony about what I had just seen.
He helped me up onto the wolf, giving me a few instructions on what to do and don’t do. Quick. Simple.
With my bag secured on my back, I hugged Anthony from behind, my excitement filled me as the wolf rose and sprinted down the road before veering off into the woods.
...
With my eyes shut tight, I savoured the rare thrill of riding on the back of a wolf - horse riding was one thing, but this ... you only read in books.
If my future involves transforming into this type of animal, I'd make it a daily routine - depending if I can't when I become pregnant.
I heard a chorus of howls echoing in a distance far behind us.
Anthony's voice spoke inside my head.
*Hey, Ruth. How are you feeling? By the way, this is what we call a mindlink in the supernatural world.
*I'm ... fine, for now. But Anthony, you and the others need to give me a thorough explanation. Selene, the Mood Goddess, has only revealed to me some of my future. Nothing more about pack or werewolf lifestyle or even the mindlink. We have time to kill before we reach Silverstone Waterfall.
Anthony clarified that in the werewolf pack, the 'mindlink' makes it easier to connect with someone. Unless they've blocked it, or they are a heavy sleeper, or are travelling to another country.
*Sure. I said. *And now I feel the need to unload the information Selene told me; it's been weighing on me.
My heart was breaking as Anthony acknowledged every painful truth I shared. Inside, I wanted to cry, and appreciated the mindlink for allowing me to talk with him without the risk of my voice betraying me. Even now, my dream that was meant to make my last day a special family memory was shattered into pieces.
If we had driven by car, it would have taken one hour to reach the waterfall.
However, I was travelling by wolf, and the speed between an animal and a car were completely different. Deciding to change the topic, I asked inside the mindlink.
*Anthony, by wolf speed, how long will it take us to get to the fall’s?
*That’s easy...
At that moment, a dormant energy erupted within me, and before I knew it, I was experiencing the world in the form of a magnificent Lycon.
The sensation I felt as my new shape was running on all four legs, that was then accompanied by an overwhelming surge of built-up energy.
Anthony’s voice broke through my beasty moment inside my head.
*Ruth! Ruth! Are you ok? Where did you vanish, Ruth?
I found it to be an unusual question to ask, considering I was still holding onto him. With my eyes still closed.
However, I could feel another part of me wanted to break free again, and run alongside the wolf.
*Ruth, it’s Lexi. How do you feel?
A smile played on my lips when I heard my b.f.f. voice inside my head.
From her voice, I felt an odd, forceful warmth coursing through my body, and the only thought now lingered inside my head was: Where is Gabriel?
I answered this instead. *I have this desire to transform into a ... lycon and run freely. Yet, can someone explain why the energy in my body is causing me to overheat?
