Those words from that poem were indeed a Curse Unseen - no thanks to my heritage on my father’s side of the family. All of Trisha’s life, I have been her trusted guardian. I made sure that she had a babysitter, reading her lots of stories to keep her safe from my pack and the outside world. As she grew older, my mate and I - even the babysitter - had to tell her the white lie. That her life is in danger from dark witches. But his contacts are keeping a close eye on them, since they are still searching for her because of her special heritage. Unfortunately, the Elder Council will only tell her everything on her eighteenth birthday. But things changed last year when she turned seventeen, and her interests in poetry grew. Once a week, she would only allow my mate and I to read her poem book. However, the weird part was when I read her new one yesterday morning. That is when those words started to echo at random times throughout the whole day. Last night was even worse. Pure nightmares of my family’s history and other dramas. I know that Trisha’s birthday is in two days’ time, but I can’t have those haunting words plaguing every part of my mind and those horrible dreams. . I sat patiently on a wooden chair inside a young dark witch's work room. I watched her make another ten pink containers of the fifty tablets that were supposed to be for my son's so-called 'sinus problem'. I hated the fact that I had to play Moon God to twist the fate of the mate bond between my son and Trisha - since she will be turning eighteen in two days time. Justin better feel the full pull of the mate bond with her. But I also need that other girl to make the other half of my plan to work. Just hoping that the shifter will find her before the two days are up. I didn't spend seventeen years to alter my son's and Trisha's mate bond to let my plans go up in smoke. As a result of my family heritage on my father's side, the evil bastards had been responsible for killing every lycon over two thousand years ago. . As long as everything goes smoothly, I can go on an early retirement and... “Richard! Get your head out of your ass!” I heard the dark witch, Alice, snap at me. “You’re wasting my time! So pay attention. I made each pill dissolve instantly in water or any drink within three seconds. Leaving no aftertaste. Make sure they get the new tablet every four hours. The High-arch Mother says payment is the firstborn. And the other three green containers should block whatever curse has a hold on you - which you need to take one table every hour.” As usual, in a blink of an eye; I was back in my office with a big box sitting on my desk in front of me. Part of me felt ashamed and slightly irritated by my ancestral lineage, that strived for greed and power. Where they even agreed to make sure each generation carried the burden - with no objection. Then again, there has been health, wealth and happiness through all those years - and the bonus part was: No low smelly rogue attacks in that time. . However, there was no time for a pity party when my wolf, Blade, smelled that fake b***h portraying as my mate, opened the office door. The high and mighty shifter does not enter, posing like a model over the threshold. And she spoke in her sweet voice with some condescension, coldness, and a hint of mockery. “My son just called, and I think we have a ... slight dilemma. So finish up your business now. Dose up your son and that b***h. We’re leaving in thirty minutes.” I arch a brow, leaning back in my chair. “Don’t give me that look, fleabag. Just do as you are told, and I will quickly sort out your mate.” She slammed the door in a protest to say that I just pissed her off on one of her insane good days. . Letting out a frustrating sigh, I looked down at the box. Noticing it wasn’t a cardboard box but an old witch’s box, with their dark symbol on the lid. After opening it up, I pulled out my bottle, took out three tablets, and threw them in. I gulped down the bitter tablets. Next, I placed my bottle next to the box before taking two different colored bottles. Dark purple for Trisha and dark orange for my son. Putting them to one side on an open area on my desk, I closed the lid, and spoke the word for the witch’s box to disappear. I was about to pick up the two bottles again, when my office door burst open and a furious Trisha entered. She stopped two feet over the threshold, holding a bottle up for me to see. “The Moon Goddess Selene has informed me that you have been poisoning me and your son for years. Twisting our mate bond with this s**t! Why? Why would you do this to your own family? WHY?” Trisha asked harshly, screaming the last word, with tears running down her cheeks. I didn’t move, but blurted out a lie, hoping that she would believe me. “Your stepmother is the one. She is a shifter. Afte-“ My mouth was now hanging open in disbelief as I shared a look with the shifter b***h. Before the disappearance act of Trisha, I wondered when she tried to sneak behind the young girl. . “You have a big problem. Why didn’t you-“ She tried to blame me, but I just snapped at her. “f**k OFF!” I shouted, letting my Alpha aura out, making some items in the room shake. Breathing deeply through my nose, I counted to ten to calm down. I then said the witch’s word again, and the box appeared in the same spot. As I put back the three bottles, the poetry words reiterated inside my head. “My mate better be in my room. And you can go to the witches to explain. I don’t have the energy since I also have to deal with the echoes.” I glared at her, watching her if she made any move. She said nothing else when she picked up the box and disappeared. My next step is to check on my son, moving through the house, up the stairs, all the while sniffing the air. Something smelled different in my house. I quickened my pace to his room and stopped dead when I saw a bag hanging from the door handle and a note on the door. Grabbed the piece of paper and began to read the note. It said: “Dear Dad, I have found my true mate... Bla, bla, bla. Trisha turns eighteen and finds her mate... Bla, bla, bla. White dust in the bag is your shitty tablet... Bla, bla, bla. I have my mom with me - enjoy your life.” I saw red as my fist connected with Justin’s bedroom door. ... ...
